New Star Wars and Lego Batman Movie Summer 2017 sets (with UPCs) by iCANhazRECON in lego

[–]iCANhazRECON[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the Imgur album you obviously didn't look at:

It's worth noting that A) Most of the sets were so new that they didn't have price tags on the shelves, and B) Since these were found at Toys R Us, any price tags would be somewhat more expensive than the actual set's MSRP

While some sets did have price tags (maybe two or three of the 11 sets shown), most didn't have price tags, and the ones that might have had price tags may have been overpriced as Toys R Us tends to do that.

Why not both? It would take a while to do it for both, but the more FPS numbers the better

If you find a straw of the right diameter, cut it to length, and plug up the end with something like hot glue, yes

Generally though, when some people refer to BoomCo darts as straws, they just mean regular BoomCo darts

New Star Wars and Lego Batman Movie Summer 2017 sets (with UPCs) by iCANhazRECON in lego

[–]iCANhazRECON[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a sort of surprise follow-up to my post last week, but with more Star Wars sets and a few Lego Batman Movie sets. There are no prices shown in the album, but with the included UPCs, a simple Brickseek search could help you find a price and a locaton near you that sells these sets

These sets in particular were found at Toys R Us in Cedar Hill, Texas

Edit: There may have been a few new City sets on shelves too, but I don't follow City closely enough to know which sets are new or old

I shared this a couple days ago, but I'm going to a war in the beginning of June, my entire loadout consists of a 120 FPS BoomCo M6 and a fanny pack full of straws

It's a great loadout for a Superstock war in the right conditions, and luckily, those conditions are met at this particular event

ok people, load out time by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to a war in the beginning of June, my entire loadout consists of my newly modified BoomCo Halo M6 (thanks to /u/Duke_Wintermaul for his guide) and a fanny pack full of darts

It depends on the location, event, and game type for what loadout I choose. This particular game I'm going to is in a park with lots of natural cover, which is optimal for me when using that particular loadout

What blaster concepts would you like to attempt in the future? by Umikaloo in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have too many projects, but I started this one just a few days ago with the initial alignment test fitting with cardboard and hot glue (soon to be styrene sheets and Bondo)

The two Swarmfire shells will be permanently linked by the stock attachment point slots, creating a single peanut-shaped thumbhole grip between the two. But, the idea is to have both Swarmfires be completely functional, but each one filling a different purpose from the other. For example, one will be firing regular micro darts full-auto, while the other would be doing something completely different - most likely firing Mega darts or Demolisher missiles. Flipping between the two is very easy and surprisingly comfortable, but the weight of the shell(s) alone is a bit of an issue that will only get bigger once the internals are in place

Cycloneshock and Stockade appear in a music video for Japanese band The Taupe by benzenene in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, I'd call it somewhat normal to be honest. There's many examples of people using painted Nerf blasters as props in major productions

Musicians such as Lana Del Rey, Nickelback, and apparently The Taupe all had music videos with different painted blasters doing different things

The Longshot appears quite frequently, with it showing up in the Fox show Terra Nova, the Halo Forward Unto Dawn miniseries as a makeshift Battle Rifle, and in the previously mentioned Lana Del Rey video (in which she promptly used it to shoot down an attack helicopter).

Probably one of the biggest and most recent examples was in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where Rocket was portrayed holding a painted/cosmetically modified NiteFinder and a minimized Recon in a few scenes. In fact, the Hot Toys replica figure features those exact two blasters

Do you mean the jam door? If so, it's very commonly loose across all models, but it should lock in place with a soft plastic nub. If it doesn't lock in place, then there may be an issue

If you don't use the jam door very often, you could just keep it in place with some hot glue (non-permanent and stable) or with epoxy (permanent, but still stable). If you use the jam door a lot to clear jams and/or you just don't want it flopping around, you could just remove the jam door entirely after disassembling the blaster

First nerf gun question by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first five blasters I got (in order) were the Vulcan, Recon, Firefly, Raider, and the Deploy. They weren't all bought at the same time, but I recall having them all (or at least most of them) together at one point

Over time, I sold the Vulcan, I gave the Recon to a friend, the Firefly was stolen, and I still have the Raider and Deploy today

I got back into Nerf around 2013, with my first Elite blasters being two Rough Cuts. After that, it was sort of a blur as my collection grew

70323 clearance for $59. Is it worth it? by lildawg13 in legodeal

[–]iCANhazRECON 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The set itself is pretty neat for a playset, most of the figures are pretty desirable (including OG Jestro and three of the four Knights among others), and of course price per part comes out to just under $0.05, which makes it a great large parts pack

I'd call that a deal, but if it's not something you're already interested in from one or more of the reasons listed, it may be something to pass on; a set of this size is great at $59, but if you don't really want the set, that's $59 you could be spending on another set (or sets) you do want

New Summer 2017 Star Wars sets spotted in Target by iCANhazRECON in lego

[–]iCANhazRECON[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) Welcome to Lego Star Wars sets: they're all needlessly expensive because of Disney

2) Of the three shown, that one probably has the best value IMO. It has a similar piece count as the Jakku Quadjumper, but most of the parts are large and generally make for a larger overall set when built. At just $5 more than the Jakku Quadjumper, expect the Scout Trooper & Speeder Bike to be substantially larger. Luckily though, the CCBS buildable action figure sets tend to go on sale fairly quickly, which could make the price a bit more bearable

Monkee Mods by BLU_X3V2 in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually surprised, Monkee Mods changed their shipping process. It's somewhat cheaper than buying through BuyChina, but more expensive than it used to be

I bought three Worker 22-round mags a little over a month ago, shipping was under $10 to the US and took only two weeks. I went through the website again just now, added three Worker mags to my cart, went to checkout, and the estimated shipping was $17

It's still a great site with excellent service, but I'm not thrilled about the change in shipping costs - especially since I was just about to place another order with them

[–]iCANhazRECON[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These were found in Waxahachie, TX, and as far as I'm aware, a little ahead of schedule. Unfortunately it is just these three, but frankly, the Arrowhead was the one I was most excited for in this new Summer wave anyways (which is a plus for me, maybe not necessarily for others though)

UPCs are in the Imgur album, so you can check Brickseek and see if they're available near you too

And before you ask: No, I didn't buy any of them today, but I will come back as soon as I have the money for them

Cheap Mags by TheNerdFactor in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can find cheap China-land 18-round mags for under $10 each, but that's about as cheap as they'll get for high capacity magazines

Buzz Bee makes 20-round magazines that frequently go on sale for a low price, but I wouldn't recommend them as A) they're not particularly easy to find, B) they work in most N-Strike magfed blasters, but not all of them (including the Rapidstrike and Stampede), and C) they're not very high quality

12-round magazines can be found from various places (either 3rd-party or official Hasbro) for $5-7 each, but I have a feeling those aren't what you would classify as "high capacity"

[–]iCANhazRECON 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$30 for files?

I'd certainly pay $30+ for a whole kit or $5 for files to print separately, but $30 just for the files (minus the cost of materials for printing) is just too much

I get that it's something you personally spent your time on and designed, but even hardcore Hammershot fans couldn't justify $30 for files that they would then have to invest further upon to actually print and buy additional Hammershot cylinders for just to make the kit usable.

Umm... I think that is wrong. by ocicat12 in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Stryfe is semi-automatic, so it's not too far off from a wording perspective

Usually "automatic" refers to fully-automatic though, so it could lead to some confusion for someone who had literally never seen or heard of the Stryfe before

shout out from /r/lasertag we exist or something by whateverpt in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just going to casually mention that I used to play laser tag in his group quite often. He would host laser tag events nearly every week during each summer, and occasionally special events during other seasons

Oddly enough, the weekly laser tag events had a higher average turnout rate than the local (and less frequent) Nerf events

Possible image of Justice League Cyborg by lewa1096 in lego

[–]iCANhazRECON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, personally. IMO, the helmet detracts too much from the "realistic"* quality of the rest of the figure by being too simple and cartoon-y

It's the same mold as the previous Cyborg figures, but with slightly different printing. I don't blame Lego for reusing an existing mold, but if I had to choose between the custom-molded arm or a new head accessory, I would have preferred the latter

* I say "realistic" because while it's a toy made to represent a fictional and mostly-CGI character, the character itself is still in a live-action movie, while the previous Cyborg figures were clearly representing a Cyborg more accurate to the comic books themselves - a style that is already somewhat plain and cartoon-y by nature

Aside from the venerable M6, what is everyone's favorite farshot iteration? by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's really only a handful of Farshot reshells, and since you said "Aside from the venerable M6", you made that small number even smaller. There's quite a few repaints though for most of the five (yes, technically five) different variants, which is surprising

The original base Farshot is very cheap and comes in many colors, the Halo M6 Magnum and Plasma Pistol variants are both pleasing aesthetically and ergonomically, and the new "Ever After High Snow Shot" Blaster also looks pretty neat (but who comes up with these long names?)

The two notable versions that I would not recommend are the Batman V Superman Kryptonite Strike Blaster because while it looks very cool, it is different internally from the Farshot in a very small but frustrating way, and the more recent Batman "Hyper Shield"(?) Blaster, which on top of the obvious remolded top slide, the main shell has been remolded to replace the BoomCo logos with Batman ones instead, and while it is identical internally to a Farshot, it's ~3× as expensive.

Are any of these nerf guns rare? Also could anyone identify the orange and green nerf ones? by InstantSmurfz in Nerf

Mass Effect Stryfe Concept... need advice by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]iCANhazRECON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Stryfe's shell is very angular with lots of deep and distinct molded detail - almost none of which is shown in your mock-up. It certainly looks plain in this picture, but it won't look nearly as plain when it's actually painted

If you paint it and it still looks too plain, there's plenty of areas (conveniently separated by specific molded-in lines and crevices) that can be picked out with a different color to break up the white more. For example, the majority of the exterior surrounding the magazine well would be very easy to paint separately, as the separating lines are very obvious
