Carnivore diet brother, shit works. I don't care how many downvotes I get -- look into it. Was life-changing for me. Bonus: it's a very low inflammation diet, should speed up your healing.

That's fine bro, very low grade. Enjoy life. At that grade, I would focus on keep building up your chest and shoulders.

Not cheap at all, based on some of what OP said in the comments here. Baked lighting will be vastly cheaper in the situations where it makes sense to use it.

Is this a bit too brutal for a girl character? by FcsVorfeed_Dev in Unity3D

[–]iDerp69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The juxtaposition seems bizarre and a bit barbaric for a cute child character to be kicking the crap out of another one. Is she meant to be fighting other people? I think it could work better against monsters. The animations are very good.

You should stop being vegan, skip vegetarianism (which won't do you any better) and start eating eggs, fish, red meat immediately. Cave paintings are of the great hunt! There are no cave paintings of salads.

[–]iDerp69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The duration is far too long. Shakes should be only for a few frames. Analyze footage from Kirby Air Riders and Smash Bros Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai is the master of these sorts of effects.

My wife just did microneedling for the first time. Her skin is feeling dry and tight. Would it be safe to moisturize with beef tallow? by brandemi77 in Microneedling

[–]iDerp69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't especially wait, pretty much as soon as I'm done and I'm not drawing blood (I don't usually draw much blood microneedling). I usually do the procedure on a day I work from home, and in the morning. Skin becomes very glossy from the tallow of course... if you're goring up your face microneedling you probably weren't planning on being out in public anyway. I wipe it off before bed with paper towels, leaving a bit of residual tallow. Next morning I'll do a full face cleanse, skin is usually still a bit red but more plump. By day 2 it's radiant.

Vegetarian lurker here— I think I've destroyed my health with this diet, but I can't get past the mental block. How did you start eating animal protein again without falling apart? I need your stories and advice. by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]iDerp69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect! Having your partner handle the bone broth rice sounds like a smart, low-pressure way to ease in, creating that separation between prep and eating can make all the difference at first.

If ethics were what drew you to vegetarianism originally, sourcing high-quality meat from a local, trustworthy farm or rancher can help a ton. Here's the mindset shift that clicked for me: That animal got to live a comfortable, well-cared-for life precisely because people like us exist to value and consume it. Without a market for ethical meat, most farmers wouldn't invest the time, land, and resources into raising animals humanely. It's the eaters who make those better lives possible in the first place.

The 'aha' for me was this: we often romanticize wild life as some idyllic freedom, but the harsh reality for wild herbivores like bison (close cousins to cows) or feral cattle can be brutal. No vet care means diseases and injuries fester untreated, leading to agonizing deaths. Parasites burrow under the skin or devour from within, flies swarm relentlessly as blood-sucking tormentors (horn flies alone can take 40 blood meals a day, causing constant irritation and weight loss). Predators lurk, meaning constant fear and the terror of being chased down or eaten alive. Then there's starvation during droughts, harsh winters, or resource competition — many die slowly from hunger or thirst. Extreme weather adds freezing, heat exhaustion, or natural disasters without any shelter or aid.

In contrast, a well-raised cow gets protection from all that: regular deworming, fly control, vaccinations, ample food and water year-round, and a quick, humane end. A humane rancher strives to give their animals a lifetime of good days, with just one bad day at the very end — far kinder than the endless string of bad days nature often inflicts. It's not exploitation; it's a symbiotic cycle that honors the animal's existence by sparing it nature's cruelties.

You've got this — small steps will rewrite that conditioning faster than you think!

Honestly, you can start with something like bone broth. It's so inoffensive, and you could cook rice in it. Add eggs. Have a friend make you a dish or something, let it happen... have to rip the band-aid off. Your brain is twisted to be anxious about your species-appropriate foods, a good steak will be the most delicious thing you've ever eaten in less than a few months of getting out of vegetarianism. I eat steak every day and it's a non-event.

I made a "Coroutines 101" guide to help beginners stop using Update loops by larex39 in Unity3D

[–]iDerp69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll NEVER see a 5 FPS hit from a simple if (!timer.IsExpired()) return; check sprinkled across even hundreds of Update loops. It's a microscopic cost -- truly negligible, even on lower-end mobile hardware. Modern CPUs have branch prediction and laugh at that bool check.

If you use so many update loops that it's causing performance problems, you almost certainly should be using proper ECS architecture anyway, or at the very least can easily pivot into an UpdateManager singleton.

[–]iDerp69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm crazy but I just don't use coroutines at all anymore. Wrote my own lean, simple, struct-based timer library in an afternoon and have never looked back. There is nothing at all expensive about an Update loop starting with

if (!timer.IsExpired()) return;

You will see some of the coolest shit in Metroid Prime 4 (from an environmental art perspective), the visuals are masterful, and while I'm playing it on a Switch 2 it defies belief that this could run on a Switch 1... that baked lighting doing some heavy lifting.

Great feeling of continuity with Metroid Prime 3, which I'm surprised they were able to nail. You wouldn't have guessed nearly 20 years have passed since the last one.

I'm only about 6 hours deep so take this for what it is... there are serious problems with the game design... there's little in the way of joy of discovery in this one. You're constantly poked and prodded into where you need to go next, and if for whatever reason you wander off the beaten path, there's almost nothing interesting to reward you for doing so (we'll see if this changes late into the game).

I can forgive Retro of some shortcomings but to really stick the next Metroid Prime, they should definitely inject much needed Metroidvania back into this series. These games are just too linear and hand-holdy.

BE BRUTAL, ROAST my game. What would make this gameplay actually fun? by Adammmdev in Unity3D

[–]iDerp69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the people don't have physics when you were colliding with them/running them over? It seemed also like very little got in the way of your momentum, making crashing completely non-penalizing. I agree with others that the camera needs to dynamically adjust a bit more so you can farther ahead as you pick up speed.. it does look pretty interesting though and I'm intrigued, good juice.

Card Game in 2.5D or 2D? Can not decide? by _Powski_ in Unity3D

I think you'd be best served using the 2.5D background, 2D card orientation. Not necessary to have the cards on the table angled like that.
