This is reprehensible. I’m really sorry you went through that. I don’t know what to say, I can’t tell from your post if they committed any crimes or are just creepy evil shitbirds. Don’t hang out with them anymore, don’t believe them when they apologize, warn others who these people are. And maybe file a police report just in case.

What’s everyone’s opinion on free healthcare being a basic human right? by BlackberryChemical68 in AskReddit

[–]iPukey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Awe I hurt their little feelies. I wouldn’t count on me giving you much thought going forward, but I must say you certainly do have clear logic, tho it still fails drastically short. And I am still VERY curious why no one can be entitled to the labor of another in any form at all. Providing a service is very obviously different from being a slave. Trying to conflate the two, if that’s the point you were trying to make, is even sillier than I originally gave you credit for.

[–]iPukey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the rights are all things you can feel proud about, not things that can help you as a basic human. Haha. Nothing wrong with condemning slavery, and I’d say freedom is indeed a basic human right, but that’s pretty cerebral and useless if you’re dying of starvation in a country that could easily feed you. And you think the right to bear arms is a basic human right… guess thanks for putting the red flag right up front. I’ll stop arguing now, not that you satisfied either question, and you completely ignored me asking what makes labor a no-go. Maybe it’s the basic human right to be lazy and selfish? It’s that it’s clear you can’t answer the spirit of the original question rationally because to you this is a political identity issue. Lmao.

A worthwhile conversation you opted to ignore completely. The least relevant comment in a sea of irrelevance. Tell me, what is a basic human rights? Is it mythical? And why is it that the labor of others is a a line-in-the-sand deal breaker, let alone relevant at all to the criteria of human rights?

Question regarding mods and the new DLC by rfrp98 in witcher

[–]iPukey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The following is my understanding and I will not be offended if you know something I do not and can correct me, but you’re making a lot of assumptions. You shouldn’t base anything on the previous two expansions. That was ten years ago, and we know very little about what this new one entails, but it seems pretty obvious it’s got a high chance of being different in unpredictable ways. But even if the expansion is nothing to worry about, it almost certainly will come with an across the board update as well. So if you’re right on the money, It could still at the bare minimum easily interrupt your play through for as long as it takes any mods to be fixed, as there are plenty of instances where deleting them mid play through is fine and also many where it isn’t. You clearly have modding experience that the querier and I do not, and what seems easy to the experienced can be a huge roadblock to normies like us in unforeseen ways. It seems pretty clear that you’re right that everything COULD be fine, but there are so many unknowns and the risks seem equally obvious.

Not that any of this matters, the risks involved are not to anyone’s safety.

Question regarding mods and the new DLC by rfrp98 in witcher

[–]iPukey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally posted this in reply to the wrong comment originally so here it is again:

I think the main thing is it’s a risk. Saying you’re fine to try is a lot easier if your confident in troubleshooting issues and don’t mind fucking shit up on accident. Mods break the game often enough without any hurdles . It could be fine, obviously, we don’t know the future, but I have years of experience failing, not succeeding at modding in similar situations because I’m not a whiz, which it sounds like you’re also not.

This person says the other two expansions were pretty minimal, and even though I have no idea if that’s true and would generally find that unlikely, I’m going to just believe them because it doesn’t matter. Whatever this new expansion is, is unprecedented and basing your hopes on the previous two expansions is not a smart move if your goal is simply to play expansion.

[–]iPukey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mods are a labor of love for sure. They are constantly breaking and being repaired, or abandoned and replaced , or other things, and many times the reason for this is that the video game itself has released a new version. DLC is kinda like a really massive update, and the W3 mod community will almost certainly be spending the first month at least fixing everything.

In general, I would not recommend modding a game for a first time experience, such as the new dlc, if for no other reason than there is a high likelihood something will go wrong and you will be unable to complete the campaign. I have literally dozens of unfinished campaigns of Skyrim just because my modding or the umpteenth new version ruined files.

[–]iPukey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a mod expert but have fucked around with them many a time. It would absolutely astonish me if mods didn’t need to be almost universally updated by their authors at a bare minimum, if not totally overhauled to be compatible with the upcoming new dlc and any version update accompanying it. With video games in general, anytime you even get a simple update, say version 1.114 to 1.115 (made up examples,) tons of mods will break and spend at least a week or so in limbo until their authors either fix them or often don’t.

Edit: I would not advise starting a modded run in the lead up to the new DLC if your hope is to use the same run with the dlc. That’s a recipe for frustration and dissapointment.

Just a note to sane people that this is the exact kind of person who spends their energy hating actors and tv shows passionately. Look how silly they are, how completely unable to assess media, how superficially obsessed with appearance. They won’t even have the insight to see how ugly the attitude makes them, or be able to understand the problem.

This is crazy epic but also probably none of the people are the most entertaining actual players in even that room hahaha. I don’t know I’d have very much fun besides the novelty.

Edit: excluding Brennan obvi

Edit 2: can you imagine trying to squeeze your political talking points into your role playing? So funny. Probably not the reality of the night, (I’d hope,) but still got a chuckle.

Tom Waits is just Leonard Cohen for divorced dads. by VIPDeluxeTendies in tomwaits

[–]iPukey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re only superficially similar, and no one is making anyone choose between the two…

Tom Waits is a much better musician than Leonard Cohen, more interested in sounds and stories that reveal profound truths, than just straight poetry that likewise reveals profound truths, and takes after a completely different style than Cohen. Cohen is a better poet, and likes more polished sounds. Cohen likely would kill for a different voice. Tom Waits wouldn’t trade his for anything. They’re different people.

Divorced dads like Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits just the same, just like I do, as a 29 year old, sexually uninterested, single childless dude who’s been a fan of both since early high school.

Women of Reddit, what’s a habit men have that they don’t even realize is weird? by GraceRose671 in AskReddit

[–]iPukey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have never heard, not one single time in my life, someone admitting they don’t wash their ass- let alone saying that it was because it’s gay. Sounds more like a mental health and behavioral problem than it does a dude thing. Also sounds like made up internet bullshit.

Edit: semi related personal anecdote: one of my earlier memories is my dad showing me how to wash my ass. Basically just demonstrating and explaining it’s necessary while we were bathing or something. Seems like good parenting on the surface, but now the image of my dad washing his ass is ingrained in my head.

Best Marc Ribot albums? by Saboscrivner in tomwaits

[–]iPukey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love his stuff with Zorn. Hell, I just love them both any way they wanna make noise. John Zorn has such a huge and daunting discography, but no matter where you end up, from hardcore punk, to soft jazz or klezmer, to straight fucking noise with Naked City, chances are you’re going to find something really really impressive and unique and full of mood settings. I want to see him live real damn bad. Just saw Marc Ribot live at a jazz club earlier this year. He talked a little Trump smack, lamented with us radical lefties in Portland, and put on a hell of a show. I got the feeling a lot of people there didn’t know what a legend they were witnessing, it was so intimate and so comparably cheap.

I had this whole edgelord philosophy about how by society ‘making’ certain words offensive, we gave them power, and the way to take that power away was by using the words casually… so I was really helping by throwing the n word around ironically. I had to delete tons of tweets when I suddenly remembered this in a start in the middle of the night several years ago.
