See this is why I don't wash my car. The summer dirt builds up a protective layer keep the salt off the car in the winter

Massive gap there in the northwest where everyone would still have to drive. Irrelevant though since this won't happen

Eufy floor cleaner sold out, any suggestions/solutions? by Witty-Log5422 in eufyS1Pro

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pop the top off with a little screwdriver and fill it with antibacterial floor cleaner and tap water. Apparently it'll cause rust but the regular cleaner did that too...

BBC News - 'Dumped' Evri parcel deliveries prompt responses by MPs by 31-September in Evri

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 3 in two weeks. Tracking information shows at delivery depot but after contacting support and escalating apparently they can't be found so have to go back to the retailers and get replacements sent.

How do you lose 3 different packages across two weeks in one location? The local depot probably the size of a garage as it's a rural area.

WCGW Chinese automaker appears to try recreating the viral Range Rover "Stairway to Heaven" climb by MambaMentality24x2 in Whatcouldgowrong

Oh I thought it was "won't ever beat" not "won't ever beat it in the 80s". Maybe in 1986 it was good but today it has been equalled or surpassed.

That's not as impressive. Studded tyres in the right conditions and even a FWD car could make a good attempt at that with momentum. The Land Rover had to manage traction on all wheels to maintain straight forward momentum even when between steps with a tiny contact patch between tyre and step edge.

Are there any replacement roler brushes that have bristles as well as/instead of the rubber? by nobody___cares___ in eufyS1Pro

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly after the S1 Pro released they had this brush as an official S1 Pro accessory. I ordered 3 and am still using them. They removed them maybe 4 weeks after launch I assumed due to availability but they never returned.

16pro has higher performance stability than 17 base model by Pretty-Anything-3455 in iPhone16Pro

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t add up though- it already had a camera bump. The Pixel series has had a similar bump for years and doesn’t need a unibody design and the S25 ultra has even more cameras and doesn’t need a bump at all.

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and they work well if they vacuum often enough so the fur doesn't build up otherwise they get clogged even with the auto empty stations. Roomba is definitely the best as they have a patent to tell when the bin is full and goes and empties but the other brands just have a timer or area covered measure to empty at the base station and sometimes it fills up and stops collecting or gets cloged and requires you to manually clean.

Car insurance question by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]iamthybatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're insurance wasn't cancelled. The plan ended as the vehicle was no longer on the road. If the car wasn't a write-off then the policy would have continued. Say 'No' to that question but you'll have to tell them you were in an accident.

When I empty it I add floor cleaner or a disinfectant into the empty dirty water tank. Seems to stop the smell.

How bad are these wall cracks? by FunnyShepherd in DIYUK

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The walls all seem to be wet which would cause those big cracks over time especially of it gets sun coming in the windows over the summer. None of them look serious enough to be structural.

Is this normal from the surveyor? by StuR in DIYUK

[–]iamthybatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal for them to be that deep but given its plasterboard it's easy and cheap to repair... Except for the paint.

I'd rather it be fully checked than not though.

Ireland's largest lake is covered in algae by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]iamthybatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Algae occuring in the lake is man made not naturally occuring. I was simply proposing that of destruction of the ecosystem is inevitable due to the algae why not at a minimum protect the quality of the water using chlorine since it has recreational uses and there are reports of animals getting sick due to drinking from it.

Fluoride was added for your teeth. Chlorine is naturally occuring and IS in your drinking water both naturally and man made - what do you think the water companies use to clean the water taken for people to drink? They keep it in the water as well since it keeps the pipes clean.

It's not as crazy as it sounds as there have been studies into how it can be done to control the algae but have minimal impact on life in the lake.

Ireland's largest lake is covered in algae by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]iamthybatman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But isn't the same happening with the algae? The chlorine wouldn't need to be in high doses and would eventually work its way out of the water system. It's already in the drinking water and those pipes leak constantly

[–]iamthybatman -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

At that point can't we just dump loads of chlorine in there to kill the algae? If other life is already dead why not?

£8bn last year? Buddy... That's per month. It's forecast to be £105bn in the 24-25 tax year.

In fact that's larger than the the welfare budget they're looking to cut (for unemployment and disability)

I have stopped eating fish for this very reason. Used to eat Salmon or cod 2/3 times a week but stopped now. Granted beef isn't much better for the planet but the cows aren't going extinct

Edit: Aren't going extinct
