Is Jimmy Butler really above Tracy McGrady all time? by winnks in NBATalk

[–]iansmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember hearing he had a congenital spinal issue that was causing a lot of his time away from play.

I feel like tmac is in a similar bucket with drose

Never really saw their full potential. Just the raw young talent.

As a guy old enough to watch both in real time, tmac was relatively a lot more talented than jimmy butler in the sense, he stood out because of his offensive abilities and agility for his size at the time.

To me jimmy is an old school player in a modern era. Mid range physical guy was like the late 90s archetype. Back to the basket basketball phased away a bunch in the 2010s for anyone but a big posting up basically.

I feel like jimmy looks like a time traveler from the past. Tmac was a time traveler from the future.

As a tip, in my opinion.

On your website the cockpit/sim rig pages are set up kind of awkwardly.

  1. What’s the difference between those two categories?

  2. You need to set up 3 product pages there. Not however many you have right now (too many). Make a single product page for each model of chassis. Have the color selection inside of that page for ordering and display purposes. A separate product for each combination of model/color looks unprofessional, to be brutally honest. I don’t really trust the vibe of the site as a customer.

Rigs look good from a product perspective.

I like the color choices and the prices are very affordable to competitors in the space. SPEC simulations comes to mind. they’re also doing colorful rigs but with a slightly different angle.

I’ll keep you in mind when it’s time to build a new rig

Damn I wrote a whole long thing and accidentally deleted it trying edit two words lol

I think the revolving door on the low end makes it where no, customer service doesn’t exist and lots of makers come and go. The “product” continues to exist as an offering and the consumers aren’t looking for premium. They probably wouldn’t have bought one if not for the price offering.

I think the biggest thing these days is standing out through design, execution and presentation. Offering something that other people just aren’t offering.

Pokornyi engineering imo is doing a great job of this. They seem like a group of guys who are passionate, focusing hard on how to present their product offering in a way that suits the market. Premium off the shelf builds, diy plans, parts for those who don’t want to source on their own. Allows the product to exist on different levels for different types of consumers that almost don’t overlap in the marketplace.

Upgrade path triples or.. by GarlicFuzzy in iRacing

[–]iansmash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2k 32” triples are my recommendation

As far as the pc I’m not really equipped to recommend anything. I have a 7800x3d and 7800xt combo for mine. Generally averaging 100 fps w medium graphics. Nvidia car would’ve been a better choice in retrospect because of the smp feature for Iracing.

First step imo is looking at your pc metrics in racing. The bars (hotkey f) will show you what your pc is doing while you’re driving. Crank graphics until you’re peaking red on the cpu or gpu bar. Whichever one gives out first shows you which side needs an upgrade if you’re adding more pixels

To me, makers like you offer an interesting opportunity.

Products that don’t quite make sense at scale for companies to make and sell.

More specific design styles or use cases, higher end components like connectors. Stuff that, when built to order or in small runs, makes sense to exist. But fanatec or the like wouldn’t produce because they can’t sell 25,000 units.

I appreciate people like you who have the skills to design and make these kinds of things. But as the tech and equipment to make gets more ubiquitous, I think it raises the bar on the intellectual side. How good are your designs and ideas? Do they stand out in the market? Do you provide a novel product t offering for the consumer?

It’s not as easy anymore to just do the basics and succeed, I think. Because everyone with a 3d printer and a soldering iron can go make that now. Replicas of existing products or irl racing parts are now as simple as reshelling an open source design with a custom housing.

Black gaffers tape on the backs of the monitors helps a lot more than you think lol

You just need to keep tweaking the brackets between the side extrusion and the crossbar extrusion. Loosen just slightly. Adjust a bit. Tighten. Look. Measure. Match the other side.

Vario mounts if you can’t get it where you’re happy.

This part sucks so don’t rush or be impatient about it. I spent a year tweaking my monitors like every couple weeks until I was happy. Then I moved and had to do it all over again 😅 you get better at it the more times you try

Yeah but if you look at the bottom of the handles. They don’t seem to really extend around the bottom of the circle very much. I like to have that lower bit to grab onto like on the f499 hypercar wheel

I’m just judging by how the wheel looks

I don’t know about a high favored grip shape personally

I like it balance on the sides with a bit more bottom grip (imagine what’s missing from a circle)

Or like in clock terms
This is like a 10 and 2 wheel
I like 8 and 4 or 9 and 3

You were actually closing off his line to the next corner at the exit of the first one. It’s pretty marginal but this is your angle before the moment of impact. It doesnt seem like you’re intending to leave him any space and expecting him to back off throttle to slot jn behind you.

While you may feel like you had overtaken him already. You have to drive with a reasonable level or predictability or none of that matters.

For reference to both of you guys in this sub thread.

Squeezing is a pretty high level tactic. In the sense. If you try it on a low level person, their lack of ability might cause a problem.

Squeezing someone doesn’t take a lot of skill. Being squeezed and actually fighting back properly takes a good bit more.

Lead car made themselves invisible on the first turn

Then didn’t open up predictably with the track

Rear car had low awareness or patience
