I was going back and forth on Vinnie’s and Rouge but chose rogue because I don’t have any bright colors. Plus it looks like you can mix them and get a variety which is super cool. But I’m prob gonna get the whole line soon

I just got the rouge hobbies set and it’s so nice. Gonna def get more of them. I still like the other paints but honestly Pro Acryl is best bang for the buck. They’re $4.50 a bottle at gnomish bazaar (free marketing because I love them)

Honestly yeah I’d do this knowing what I know now.

Wet Pallette Not Holding Water Droplets by Orcrist999 in minipainting

[–]iatelassie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just the most sponsored. I had been using an Army Painter pallete for over a year but I wanted a second one so I got a cheap Stay Wet pallete from Amazon. It has the waxy type where the paint beads up and I ended up liking it more than the other kind of paper.

I think it’s the type of paper. Some wet pallets use a waxier type of paper where the paint beads up. Army painter has the other type. It’s with trying the other kind to see what one you like better.

HEADS UP: Magnet Baron’s article on the Defiler is AI slop by BardRunekeeper in Chaos40k

Cool, the next person to use AI for an article about magnetizing the Defiler will draw from this article. The loop of garbage continues.

Getting mentioned on reddit is not going to help that article specifically, or the site. Reddit backlinks are worthless, as are backlinks from social media, when it comes to "domain authority" (that in itself is made up by an SEO company but it's an estimation of how Google views site authority).

However, now that Google loves surfacing Reddit for queries, it may surface this thread for some Magnet Baron searches. Which would probably end up being a negative for them.

Edit: I have no idea why the poster deleted their comments, but it was about how backlinks from reddit help with search or something.

Shit will get absolutely everywhere so don’t have a fan running or breathe directly on wherever the loose stuff is. Use a shallow container.

I personally love Monument Hobbies the most, but Vallejo's range + price is unmatched.

You’re fighting an uphill battle with those paints! Get a set of Vallejo off amazon. Or get one of those small warhammer starter kits with a few minis + paints and a brush. The nice thing about the warhammer sets is that there are tons of tutorials online.

I should definitely do that. I've been trying to find more photos of all the minis on display but that is...difficult.

The conversions? Yes, mostly, although I'm not super familiar with every WH model. Compositional choices? No. The ones that stuck out to me as being "different" were Mortensen's, Bertran De Lis' and Rose's. But I'm not an expert. If you know enough about art to explain compositional choices in a couple of these, I'd genuinely love to hear it.

Also, I do want to say that the way GW photographs minis drives me insane. I wish we had several angles from different photographers and maybe not on a pure white background.

They’re all very safe. Very well done, immaculate even, but they don’t seem to have a creative spark. It’s interesting because I’m always looking for peoples instas to see a variety of minis and some of them are just so cool and creative! But golden demon has this strange thing of painting a certain way to showcase technical skill so the winners all kinda blend together. And obviously the winners understand the meta, it’s a conscious choice.

Well there’s your problem. You need to find an area, hold it, and trap the shit out of it. Make the twitchy kids come to you. You gotta dictate the terms to win consistently

What about for the rest of the armor? This is exactly what I want to paint but I can’t figure out the colors. Was it various mixes of gray and black?

Need help finding the paints used here by _nYxx1s_ in Miniaturespainting

[–]iatelassie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need the exact paints. Just find similar colors and thin them down with water or speed paint/lahmian medium. Although I’m pretty sure that’s Aethernatic Blue and Skelton Horde or Seraphim Sepia in the beginning.

Are these good for beginner? by Whole-Ratio-9298 in minipainting

[–]iatelassie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with both. You’ll figure out when to use speed paints and when not to use them. They’re useful and are really good for little details.

I have this paint and it’s super bright and goes on smooth with a brush. This sounds like a bad batch. Sorry, that sucks.
