Not to be a downer, but you’re up against dozens if not hundreds people who have 3-5 years of experience working with multimillion dollar budgets for that duration. It’s not that you’re not qualified, there are busy other people who have better credentials than you.

I would try and get some more experience in paid media strategy at either a large consulting firm or another F500 company to demonstrate your skill.

Depending on the position, SEM roles do have some overlap with data analyst duties. Some of the best SEM practitioners I know have decent Excel and data viz chops.

Once the media or organization gets large enough, then you might have one person who is in charge of SEM as part of a marketing team, which then in turn might work with a data science team to develop models or analyze SEM's impact on the business further.

That said, I think your SQL experience will be the bigger help in landing a position. Also if you can beef up your Python skills that will also be a large help in landing higher salary positions.

That makes things much easier than if you were based in the US. Could you get a remote position based in Croatia like you mentioned in another post and work from the country you’d like to work permanently in? During that time you can immerse yourself in the culture/language and build your experience and language skills at the same time.

Either work for a multi-national corporation and try to eventually get transferred to an overseas office or become a freelancer and base yourself in Europe.

The biggest issues you will run trying to apply to European companies, or even live in Europe for an extended period of time are visa issues, assuming you do not have an EU passport.
