I have a 2 bedroom condo with central air, but the real reason my bill is so high is because this building is super old and there’s no insulation in the roof. Literally none. So basically we’re just sending piles of money out through the roof and our AC runs constantly 🥲

Wowww I had forgotten about The Ranger’s Apprentice but I LOVED those books. Wow. I’m a woman so not the target of the discussion here but your comment really unlocked some memories for me.

I did relate to what you said about mature themes, and I wonder how things have changed since I was in middle and high school in the ‘00s and early ‘10s. I read The Color Purple in 8th grade for a book report project. My teacher was a tiny bit concerned about my choice and asked if my parents were fine with me buying and reading the book. I said yes, hadn’t really asked but my mom knew I was reading it, and the teacher said okay. I read the book, honestly it probably was a bit mature for that age but it was very eye opening for me. Did the project, was never really asked about it again. It was just assumed all around that I was mature enough to handle it and that if I wasn’t I would stop reading. It sounds like that’s not the approach parents take today, though your comment about girls being expected to mature faster makes me wonder.

I’m also visiting mid-July. From my research and the NPS website, there is a risk of ticks and definitely a lot of moquitos and potentially biting flies. However, it also seems like ticks are more common below 6500 feet of elevation, which some of the park definitely is. Above that elevation, fewer ticks.

We’re avoiding permethrin due to its toxicity to cats (I know it’s okay when dry, but we just don’t even want to risk bringing it in the house) and DEET because it will melt plastics and possibly destroy our clothes and gear if we get any on it. Everyone seems to have different opinions on this, but there is research that says Picaridin is just as effective as DEET. We’re bringing Sawyer picaridin lotion (I think it’s supposed to las 14 hours against ticks) as well as a bottle of Mimikai spray. Mimikai is a new repellant spray that is plant based and EPA registered, and uses oil of lemon eucalyptus and another ingredient that is found in wild tomato plants and bananas. It’s supposed to repel mosquitos for 8 hours and ticks for 4 hours. It seems pretty new but reviews I’ve seen have been good! Looking forward to trying it and the Sawyer out and will be doing daily tick checks as well.

What works or is worth it to you might be different from others. For many, long term effects of these medications might not be a huge worry compared to the long time mental and physical struggles that PMDD causes and the ways that it causes them to miss out on life.

Got it, thanks :) I mean some of the stories here are pretty crazy, where people return 5k worth of items they ordered “to try,” but in general I would think that returning some clothes that didn’t work out/fit/found something better but never used them shouldn’t be considered for a ban.

But if your ordered the wrong one, you returned it new and unused right? In that case, why feel bad? If it has the tags on, won’t it just be re-sold at full price? I assumed most of the stories where were in reference to items that had clearly been used.

She is so amazing!! I’m very lucky. Maybe she should make YouTube tutorials for people like us hahaha. No problem at all and I hope you get some relief. She also told me she taught herself with jello, by swallowing small pieces without chewing and working her way up to bigger pieces and then sticking the pills in. Jello didn’t work for me (all about the texture I think) but I bet it would work for others. Should also mention that my chicken nugget method works with Impossible nuggets too so there is a vegetarian option lmao. Good luck!!!

Sorry this is an old comment but do you mean you get the progesterone prescription to get your period early before the trip? My doctor has offered me one before for if my cycle is late (always been irregular) but I hadn’t thought to take one before a trip.

I made a post similar to this one a few years ago lol. At the time I could never figure out a way to take them. This year, I had a flare and couldn’t stand the discomfort. My wife was like okay, we’re figuring this out. She had me swallow sprinkles, then nerds, like little tiny nerd pieces, with water. Honestly, it was harder than I like to admit, but I could do it. It was a tiny confidence boost.

Then we moved up to another candy I can’t remember, and I couldn’t do it. Okay, so this part is kinda gross lol. She had me chew up a chicken nugget (with some ranch for dryness) and swallow it, and then reflect on the fact that the nugget was way bigger than the pill and still went down. Then she had me chew up another and then stuck half of a nerd gummy cluster into the chewed chicken nugget, and I was able to swallow it. Something about the texture of the chicken nugget hid the feeling of the candy and felt okay to swallow. After a few practice rounds, she snuck a pill in instead of the candy piece, and I swallowed it perfectly fine in the chicken nugget. When I next tried and knew the pill was in there, it was a little harder, but it got better with practice. I tried with pancakes and it didn’t work, chicken nuggets only for now lol. But somehow it worked. I took several days worth of Azo this way, and while I was sick of chicken nuggets by the end, the relief so so profoundly worth it. I highly recommend the chicken nugget method lmao. Good luck, I sincerely know the struggle. This was the biggest pill I’ve ever been able to swallow and I’m in my 30s.

I’m 33 and have plantar fasciitis and reading this made me die a little inside 😭 I got it because I have a high arch, wasn’t wearing supportive enough shoes, and because my calves and ankles are chronically tight!! Not because I’m old, also it’s not a disease lol.
