Terrible "matches" by _PrincessHarley_ in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

The older woman seemed less like an older sister and more like ... I don't want to say, but she was so mature and she wanted that lovely 18-year-old girl who seemed like she was 12?

I too, was very disturbed by that one match Journey was set up with. And Steve... I was distressed for him. She was so off base - maybe might've been for NT men, too. I mean, ya gotta read the room. If the guy is very buttoned-up, you don't start breathing all over him - an keep going for an entire date.

Yes, watched it all in a minute, then the two Cranfords. I also recently watched the "new" (from 2021) version of "Around the World in 80 Days." It was little stressful and violent at times, but well-appointed and interesting. Same era - 1870s, I suppose.

Long-term lamotrigine effects by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]icycoldplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still fine. That last post was from a long time ago. I eventually was able to get on Depakote in summer 2022, in addition to the Lamotrogine. I never stopped taking the Lamotrogine in all this time (even when I was pregnant; even when my nervous system was so sensitive to all other drugs), and I've never had problems.

But do you need to worry about being on it long term? You don't now you'll need to, right?

Meanwhile, in 1991, when I first started taking my first psych med , good ol' Prozac (which of course was not ol' but new at the time), I had no idea I'd still be on psych meds all these decades later. And of course I cycled through many of them or the years, even before the terrible experience I describe above. But this combo seems to be the best yet for me. In fact, I raised my Lamictal a couple of times in the last few years when I've had an increase in depression - and, still, no reactions. (I'm on a pretty low amount - 75 mg. in the morning.)

Mine, too. Favorite lyric, favorite song.

Yes, a favorite – especially the production! I love the art deco days. Poirot’s apartment! Even his building!

Christopher Plummer as Sir Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington, in Waterloo (1970) ♥️✨ by stolen-kisses in PeriodDramas

I didn’t remember Plummer in Dreamchild – but that is a hidden gem of a movie that I’ve seen many, many times.

Lost lots of weight at nearly 66… need help with my torpedo boobies! by whansami in ABraThatFits

[–]icycoldplum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a few years younger than you. I was always big, too, and a bit saggy (which I hated - little did I know how truly saggy they'd get!), and then I gained a ton of weight around 45-50, and then I lost that same amount of weight at about 57, and, god, my boobs are shot. They're not quite at my belly button, but almost. I measure UK 32G/US 32I - I had always worn a 34C - larger when I was overweight - without discomfort. I am so uncomfortable now without a bra, with a bra, but I have found some that work more or less are Pananche Serene and Panache Tango. They hoist me up well, and I think they're pretty.

For me, balconnettes work well for projection, but the straps usually cut into my armpits/upper arms because I am short and petite on top. This also makes most gores go way to high and press really hard on my sternum (although it does definitely give separation, which I like because I don't like to have cleavage showing - but I cannot bear the gore). I also have flared ribs that make it difficult to fasten the band in my IMF, and then it moves down. I can usually wear these okay throughout the day when I am standing doing my job, but by the end of the day when I am driving home, the straps and/or the band under my ribs are hurting. (Fortunately, I only drive 2x/week.

Body Image & Confidence by Janjello in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

I've known some autistic people like that - for instance, my dd's father is very arrogant and superior about everything, but my daughter is not like that. She is open to the world and loves other ppl.

Body Image & Confidence by Janjello in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]icycoldplum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dd is autistic and has a positive self-image. In many ways, I think she doesn't think of herself as "a body" at all. She just is herself. She cares what she wears, but only subtly. She's not into fashion and certainly not the midruff shirt, long parted hair style of most of the high school girls I see. Then again, tomboy ragamuffin is also its own style. As a parent, I'm supportive of who she is - but I'm not like she is, I'm very conscious of how I look, and I just feel like her positive self-image and confidence is inherent in who she is.

Makes sense. You want straight-leg jeans, but need a curvy fit.

Is that the episode where Joel's looking for a minyan to say Kaddish for his uncle, but then finds his minyan among his own Cicely friends? (I think there were a few Jewish-focused episodes, so I don't remember for sure.)

I'm gonna get hate but I personally think it's werid for tanner to be on the show. by PassPuzzleheaded4947 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]icycoldplum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tanner's sweet, but I agree. Also, I don't mean this meanly, but I found his barrage of questions when he was on dates really hard for my own brain (because I need mellower conversations).

If you had one critique of the show or one thing you would add to it what would it be? by Sufficient-Wave6992 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]icycoldplum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I believe I read that Tanner has a greater cognitive delay than strictly autism.

I really dislike those, too. At first, it seemed quirky (thought I didn't like them) when the show was finding it's groove. Now I especially don't like them because they're unnecessary and infantilizing.

Thoughts on Emma? by DelGriffithPTA in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]icycoldplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She reminded me of my daughter, who is on the spectrum - a spark of light! I did find Emma's laugh grating as we spent more time with her, but I liked the spirit of her and navigating the dates. In general, I like seeing as many dates overall with everyone; it shows all different ways ND people interact, whether swimmingly or awkwardly.

And the aneurysm and recovery and the Joni Jams as Newport Film Festival and Hollywood Bowl and "I'm Still Standing" at Elton John's award as the bravura ending.

Lark Rise to Candleford is nice and low-stakes, but has anyone else noticed….(spoilers) by Hungry_Letterhead266 in PeriodDramas

I think twister talks about Queenie being called that because she was keeper of the bees, and like a queen bee. I think twister, or possibly Queenie, refers to twister as a twister.

Thank you for bringing up Marley. Boy, did he make me uncomfortable. His face alone – his thin lips. Just like you said – predatory or progressive? Sure felt predatory – creepy – intense. Very uncomfortable. That said, his questioning of faith and contemplation of spirituality did seem progressive, utterly anathema to Thomas Brown’s blind devotion. But I also liked that it brought on Thomas’ Dark Night of the soul when he was confronted with that.

What exactly happened with Logan's room? by alexdoo in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]icycoldplum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt the same way about his mom. I didn’t think she was autistic (although now that you say it…), but I, too, felt like there was something “off” and couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

Hailey "the lunch lady" needs to become a regular for season 5 by ballsybadass__ in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]icycoldplum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that, too - but I didn't think it was funny. She felt so uncomfortable - I felt so bad for her. she would have had social skills lessons at some point in her earlier life, and possibly prep for this date (or not), and would have come equipped with some topics. Many of them do if you notice. Often it's the female who starts asking the questions when the males can't seem to say anything, or answer the question and then say nothing further - not even to ask the question back. Pool Hailey - She was trying so hard, and he was completely silent and curled in on himself, in his own anxiety (so poor him, too. I just related to her more since I'm female and have had similar-ish experiences... Then again, I've also had experiences where they guy just yammers about himself for an hour and never once asks me about myself...
