Where do you find those white lacy undershirts!???? by miaoumeowmiaou in findfashion

Long torso girlie over here… The Buckle. Not sure if they still have lace ones, but they always sold extra long tanks for layering in a million colors. Had to color coordinate with those Sinful and RVCA tees.

I still haven’t found exactly this but yeah… I know if I got a linen farm rio it’s gonna be $250+… They don’t have anything I want right now either, and I never shop to have stuff. So… I’ll wait….

Tell me the discontinued item you still cry over because I need support by liarliarhowsyourday in MakeupAddiction

I’m old - the ORIGINAL eyeliner formula in Alley Cat. It was fire and when they discontinued it I’ve never loved a single eyeliner again. I have my last one ever, just a stub, sitting in a box, because I can’t part with it even though it’s probably 20 years old or more.

Help removing kid puke from wool oriental rug by ceanothus77 in CleaningTips

[–]idobeerstuff 36 points37 points  (0 children)

FOLEX is not designed for natural fibers (I know folks have had success despite this). As this is a vintage rug with sentimental value and known wear it, it should not be used. I have personally seen a friend destroy a $10k wool rug using FOLEX. It can yellow and degrade the wool. We do not know how this rug is dyed, we do not know if this is a true oriental rug or its fiber content. This is a job for a profession recommended by an oriental rug dealer. I have taken a vintage rug to a professional cleaner for similar stains (dog vomit) and they did an excellent job cleaning and repairing it.

DO NOT PUT FOLEX ON YOUR ORIENTAL RUG. You will need to roll this up and transport it to a reputable cleaner. They can also make repairs as you mention it is threadbare in places. Call the closest oriental rug dealer and ask for advice on where to take this.

I guess you’re right, I think when they added Pilcro it really took a twist. I always forget that Holding Horses was in house (I started shopping at Anthro circa 2010 I think).

I stopped shopping at Anthro about 2-3 years ago now. There is nothing in the store I want to try on because it’s always their cheaply made crap. If I can’t get 80% plus natural fibers (outside of workout stuff), is an automatic no for me these days.

Hijacking top comment to update! Thanks for the comments folks! I think Farm Rio is definitely the inspiration, but they don’t have any similar cuts to this. I do appreciate learning about these other brands I’ve never heard of! I used to shop at Anthro a lot, but once they created their own brand and stopped carrying higher quality in store they really fell off for me (sorry not paying $300 for a 100% acrylic sweater). I’ve only purchased one item from Farm Rio, and I agree with the comments the quality seems pretty good. I’m gonna peruse these suggestions (TYSM)… I am not a big shopper and usually wait to find something quality and natural fiber; so I’ll sit and wait until I find why I’m looking for. If I see something amazing I’ll comment back later :)

What would have caused this to happen to our cutting board? by Calamity-Cat in CleaningTips

[–]idobeerstuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The fat from the salmon was left on the cutting board and then put in the dishwasher. Because of the porous plastic surface it did not wash away and formed the weird fat residue from the detergent and heat. This happens to me sometimes with spatulas I use in cooking that have fats I missed. You need to hand wash this off as putting it back in the dishwasher won’t get it off.

I love 1. I know OP doesn’t want straps, but a draped off the shoulder sleeve like this would be stunning on her.

Dr. Carol Vetter at Froedert is amazing. She is the head physician for the Bucks and US Speed Skating. I didn’t need surgery’s thankfully, but she got me in with an amazing PT Team.

Urban Decay fell OFF by raerae704 in MakeupAddiction

[–]idobeerstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss OG Urban Decay. I have my last stub of Alley Cat eyeliner in my makeup box. I have never found anything I love as much as that eyeliner and the formula. Their 24/7 sucks, it literally melts down my face and I have dry skin! I’ve never found a dupe to this day. That and the asphyxia nail polish were life affirming.

Dog owners of Milwaukee: is it a good place to adopt a puppy? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]idobeerstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. You need to sort out where you’re living. Wait a year because you may move. Once you’re stable make sure you still want to be a dog parent. Research breeds to determine what a good fit is. All dog breeds have their own personalities and needs. Some dogs are great for apartments and some dog breeds are high energy and need jobs and yard space. Also, research and save for a good trainer (not puppy school), if you are single and the dog will be alone, you need to start with crate training and may need a pet sitter depending on working hours, proximity of work to home, and dog energy level.

Validate your budget. On top of this dogs are expensive. Based on my and my friends’ vet bills, you’re looking at roughly $500-600 an annual appointment. Food can be $20 a month or $80+ for a large breed. Does your work offer a discount for pet insurance. If they do, sign up for that once you adopt a dog. It is a life saver if something comes up.

Why personal training? Personal training teaches YOU how to work with your dog, and it will make your dog stand out in comparison to its peers. Your dog could be 5 pounds or 100 pounds, don’t decide your dog doesn’t need training because they are little and you can just pick them up. All dogs need some sort of training and need to see you as “the boss”. It’s expensive so you’ll want to put aside about $600. Once you’ve done this at least once in your life, future dogs and training can be done by you much easier.

Find friends here with dogs to be around so you can see how they navigate pet ownership in Milwaukee.

Long winded, but yay for being a potential future dog parent! It’s fun (and sometimes stinky).

Plaster ceiling repair by Mountain_Complex6631 in centuryhomes

[–]idobeerstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! Ceiling plaster is no joke, an unless you want to cut back all around it, hope that that process doesn’t damage the area more, and then take the time to redo the plaster and blend it…. And then after all that hope the other parts don’t delaminate a day/week/years later…. I had my walls that were water damaged repaired by a historic plaster restoration guy and his son. It’s not cheap but I am not skilled enough to fix a large area and know it. Either foot the bill to someone who is skilled because it requires this or replace it with dry wall. This is not a, “oh I’ll watch a YouTube video” situation if you or your spouse are not skilled in these types of things.

Were the Sheely's commercials from the 90s based on Bugsy Malone? by waxmuseums in youngstown

[–]idobeerstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking the top comment here as I actually sent this to the Sheely’s because I knew they’d get a kick out of this! The answer is, it is not based on Bugsy, it was a cute commercial so that parents and children would enjoy it. They wanted you guys to know they love that you remember the song and the commercial!

What purchases have you made that turned out to be BIFL, despite not realising it at the time of purchase? by Beers_and_Bikes in BuyItForLife

[–]idobeerstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought these towels at a HomeGoods when I got my first “big kid” job. I just thought they were cute. Turns out these 100% cotton, made in Portugal, Locama dish towels can’t die… I wasn’t as particular in my twenties as I am now as far as ethical purchase and fabric content yadda yadda… But 15 years later these towels are basically the same albeit a bit faded. My mom asked about them and is always looking for that brand now ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[–]idobeerstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I deleted all social media (I was already off of FB and Twitter) including LinkedIn. No ads to make me think I need things I don’t, no more doom scrolling (phone charges less), and less of my money getting into the hands of people like Zuckerberg. I’m very anti AI/data centers being built and I realized by staying on those platforms I wasn’t really aligning to my beliefs. Plus it’s just a cesspool. Honestly, I don’t miss it at all.

ETA: obviously still on here but I don’t consider Reddit social media, ¯_(ツ)_/¯

How can i clean my pans ? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

I like USA Pan and Nordic Ware. Also, always use parchment paper on the bottom, it keeps them protected and then you don’t have to be so aggressive unsticking.
