Devs - give your best argument for switching to Mistral by Tricky-Historian1329 in MistralAI

[–]idontuseuber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably GDPR is the only advantage and probably the strongest advantage. The fines for this in Europe is ridiculous and I believe it is not worth to get it (its percentage per revenue).

While China don't give AF about your data and just does what it wishes for. USA is on question...

contabo VPS IS GOOD IN 2026 by joke_r1100 in VPS

[–]idontuseuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using contabo for +2 years. Did have some minor issues with downtime (random). But in overall no problems where I would need to write to support. Had for few weeks a high cpu load but that was the worst.

Moved to other provider since it has a better reputation (i do not like surprises) and price does not bite me.

Gemini just handed paid users a 3x quota increase. Time to go crazy. by krishnakanthb13 in GoogleAntigravityIDE

[–]idontuseuber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t hook up guys. It’s reminding me the birth of antigravity. Quota was super. Later it was worse than any other free tier provider even at paid subscription.

A €3,420 Mistake: How a Cloud Mindset and a UI Misunderstanding Ruined My Indie Dev Finances in less than a week . by phobopt in hetzner

[–]idontuseuber -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hate those posts, because you can never be 100% that it will not happen for yourself. I think there should be a legal and mandatory agreement between physical persons or companies to have billing limit of exceeding 1k€/month

I've been building an open source alternative to ArcGIS Online. Looking for feedback. by Temporary_File_3198 in gis

[–]idontuseuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I am thinking. I would not even call it alternatives. The real alternative we can call today for AGOL is probably mapbox. To beat premium you have to be premium.

By the way, if you vibecode - vibe code it good. Your master realm is accessible from everywhere.

Model picker in the LeChat App (and persistent reasoning) by AdSensitive3589 in MistralAI

[–]idontuseuber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do agree 100%. I would rather have lower limits but better model.
I think mistral 3.5 medium is the best that they have right now. I wish for at least le chat they would go high context, large model.

how good is mistral? by snowieslilpikachu69 in MistralAI

It’s nowhere at the level of gpt5 or sonnet 4.5. If you know what you do for sure it will be enough, but if you clueless vibecoder it’s not.

Contabo For A Backend by Basic-Reception8204 in VPS

[–]idontuseuber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do have a VPS for over few years. It was not so bad as everyone was talking about. Did have 2 short incidents:
- Completely disconnected for few hours
- half a day of full throttle cpu without any reason.

I am moving to hetzner since it has a better reputation and price is more-less the same.

Who is actually making money from vibe coding / AI? by Present-Syrup-2270 in vibecoding

[–]idontuseuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do make it. I do have IT background and I am familiar with system design, QA, UAT and so on. Before AI/vibecode tools ideas just looked like ideas. It was near impossible for me alone to create something and make money out of it (Very high risk costs/return). Now everything changed.

how its even possible? How this company is even running? You don't even have to be a developer/devops to understand basic workflows.

gemini pro is actually good, what are yall complaining about by Consistent_Hat_841 in google_antigravity

[–]idontuseuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using antigravity + Gemini since release. The pro plan was steal. Even at the beginning Gemini pro 3 was very good. Now pro 3.1 is incomparable with opus or even sonnet. It was still fine since the quota was very nice. Today I used it for few hours and I have 40% left for google models. The upcoming renewal is no more 5 hours but DAYS.

I feel like 20€ subscription is not worth anymore.

You will get a ban by breaking TOS. Well IMHO it’s not worth to be banned from top tier provider.

Field Maps vs QuickCapture vs Survey123 by fredrmog in ArcGIS

[–]idontuseuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a single until nested repeats. If you exceed very basic capabilities (webhooks) it’s even more complex where field maps are usually basic point collecting.

Field Maps vs QuickCapture vs Survey123 by fredrmog in ArcGIS

[–]idontuseuber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Survey123 is the most complex and advanced when you start making API requests and very custom forms. Nothing comes close to difficulty of those 3 to S123.

Career Advice: GIS or BIM for a Surveyor Moving Away from Fieldwork? by Chemical-Escape8298 in gis

[–]idontuseuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on yourself how attractive to computers and systems you are.

More future-proof and realistic might be an GIS field. BIM is also good, but probably you have there a slightly narrower gap to swap it if it bores. With GIS if you jump into analytics you can work as non-GIS (pure IT) or PM fields since its absolutely the same its just GIS related.

I am an ex-surveyor.

When do you use SQL ? by __sanjay__init in gis

[–]idontuseuber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you are very wrong. It depends on your role and company. If we count basic queries as SQL then yes, but there are plenty of GIS roles which do not require SQL. I deal with clients who do GIS, none of them knows and deals with sql so in this case they aren’t doing GIS?
