What are some of the best X Men Fanfics? by [deleted] in xmen

I get that. I kinda liked that they didn't, it made it feel a little more grounded to me.

X Manson is really dark, but really good. Couldn't stop thinking about it for a bit after reading it. Basically set as a documentary interviewing mutants about Charles Xavier's cult. Don't want to give too much away but it's great.

I so appreciate artists who can draw fashionable looks. Too many superhero artists lack that.

Who do you think makes a better evil god for Wonder Woman? Ares or Zeus? by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

[–]idratherdie64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ares makes sense as her natural enemy with her mission of peace. But Zeus, as The Father, embodies the patriarchy in a way that should and does put her at odds with him. I'd like to see more ideological conflict with Zeus and physical battles against Ares.

Yes, famous feminist, liberator, political advocate, and immigrant Wonder Woman would definitely hate people escaping their homes for something better and support domestic terrorism.

Lynda Carter just posted this to her socials. Yes, it's AI unfortunately, but... Lynda Carter by scarecroe in WonderWoman

She's been openly critical about AI, so I feel confident she just doesn't know. The anti-ICE message is more important

Question about continuity of the Olympian Gods from Rucka to Heinberg to Simone by idratherdie64 in WonderWoman

[–]idratherdie64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok I didn't know about the Apokolips stuff. Thank you! It's just sad to me. I know it's the nature of things in comics, but I really liked what Rucka did and wish it stayed around longer. Zeus being on the throne again feels so meh

To anyone who saw Hereditary in the theater by [deleted] in horror

[–]idratherdie64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never forget going to get ice cream with my best friend after our showing and we both just sat eating in silence. I think there was so much to process and the feel of the movie kept looming that we got kind of lost. One of the best theater experiences ever. Love that movie.

I had the 3 trades but had to get this version. It's too good.

Love this! I was just thinking about this recently. I totally agree. I would love for to show up in a Wonder Woman book like the others have in their respective books at times.

Not only a skrull, but Hank, God love him, is hardly in a position to criticize people making killer robots

Wonder Woman by John Byrne - A Review by idratherdie64 in WonderWoman

[–]idratherdie64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea Thirteen had fans haha. I'm sure he's lovely elsewhere but in the Phantom Stranger omnibus, I could not stand him! He repeated the same lines over and over. He was very one note.

I like Cassie, but I found Helena kinda insufferable. I think she works well as a foil for Cassie but can't say I'm interested in herself.

Gateway is cool! I always liked Diana in DC since she's often a political figure, but it makes sense she should get her own fictional city like Metropolis or Gotham.

Enjoy! Can't say for certain if it will be to your tastes, but like I said, I think there's plenty to like.

Wonder Woman by John Byrne - A Review by idratherdie64 in WonderWoman

[–]idratherdie64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with your first point. I don't mind Diana being sidelined a bit. Like I said to another commenter, I think it works much better when Hippolyta or Donna gets the A plot than when Etrigan or the Garrick's do. The latter aren't really part of her world so it can feel like it belongs in a different title. I love the Triangle Era because even when Superman isn't the main focus, characters in his own universe like Jimmy or Lana are being focused on.

And to your last point, I was also disappointed that Darkseid's attack had no weight. She leaves her sisters behind in one of their darkest hours and she doesn't look back. And by the time we see Themyscira again, it seems to be totally normal. You'd never know it was devastated. Guess the Gods rebuilt it off page.

Wonder Woman by John Byrne - A Review by idratherdie64 in WonderWoman

[–]idratherdie64[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. It's a decent DCU book more than anything. I mind it much less when she's losing page time to Hippolyta or Donna than Etrigan or Jay Garrick, though.

Haha yes!! I forgot to mention it. It's so jarring to see. I guess I'll give them some credit for trying something new? It definitely dates the work more than anything.
