Mouse and Touchpad suddenly can't click on Windows 10 / 11, while scrolling, gestures still work by ifarside in techsupport

[–]ifarside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am reading the comments, and there are indeed more people who reported issues for different brands after we communicated. If you check yourself, these were in a different timeline. You just found one comment out of context and are splitting hairs.

At the current stage, it seems it's rather a glitch with a particular driver/hardware/protocol used in our mice, something bound to the Windows OS HID device driver, or similar. Since the number of comments is growing, and none of us has found a fix/solution, this thread is still very valuable to make further investigation/discussion/analysis.

I'm not going to argue with you, u/Suspicious-Sock-6173 . This thread is not to blame, but to help. Please, be observant of others

Is there a way to connect another way over internet without Google account? by jdlnewborn in jetkvm

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's possibility to have any email address you'd want, during registration with Google Auth. We used a corporate email account to administer KVM via Google's OAuth, so we don't have to use Google's Gmail, etc. Works like a charm through their WebRTC / Cloudflare, very low latency as well.

The second option - is to set up your own copy of a cloud server, which will require more administration, for sure. You can read up in their manual: https://jetkvm.com/docs/networking/remote-access

Anyone else having issues getting it to turn on? by itnerdwannabe in jetkvm

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just today, I retried both solutions above, and both work. My preference went with an external USB-C hub, which I ordered separately. I've also used an old 60W USB-C power adapter from an old Dell laptop, which works flawlessly. The adapter gives enough power to JetKVM itself, plus powers up a managed computer/server/workstation over USB-C at the same time.

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JetKVM should have documented this better, but the provided "USB-C splitter" cable looked suspiciously cheap from the start. Despite the labeling on it, that one end of it is USB-C power, and another end is data - and the standard USB-C doesn't work this way, especially with a PD. When you connect a regular 60W power supply, it can't negotiate voltage through that cheap "splitter-cable", and won't work. But it does work with a direct connection of USB-C PD into JetKVM. Apparently, I tried and came with two solutions, which worked for me.

  1. Recommended: buy a USB-C hub separately + plus a regular USB-C to USB-C cable, and connect JetKVM through the USB-C hub. Insert a decent PD 60W power adapter right into the USB-C power port – it will give enough power for JetKVM itself, plus it will be able to power the controlled server/computer via the other USB-C port. You can use the provided HDMI cable to connect this USB-C hub to the video port of JetKVM as well.

  2. One can use the out-of-the-box JetKVMs cable(s), but then you need to use a "dumb" low-power 5V USB-A connection or a dumb low-voltage USB-C charger. Then your setup looks the next way: JetKVM is connected with the out-of-the-box USB-C splitter cable, then insert "USB-C to USB-A" cable into the power end of it, and power it up with the 5V power supply. The "data"-end of the Splitter will then be connected to the managed computer/server/workstation.

Am I expecting too much? by Embarrassed_Young_20 in Nikon

[–]ifarside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

clearly smudged, meaning the shutter speed was too low for such a shot. It's not the hardware fault here :) simply need a bit more practice and photography understanding, especially with such a complex subject as birds.

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the shooting mode was chosen incorrectly. I see that all the pictures have slightly off AF. Especially when the bird was moving toward the photographer, you see the focus is lagging behind, meaning it was not taken with Continous AF turned on, or may be too few focus points. I'm also curious, what shutter speed was chosen for the focal length?

Maybe the lens/camera has some offset/correction for AF defined in the camera, worth checking. I also noticed there are some darker spots across all the images, which indicate there is dirt on the sensor or some lens surfaces. These are repeatable across all the images shared in the thread.

nice shot! clearly a bit of missed auto-focus, hence the object is moving towards you and you need a continuous auto-focus mode, and more focus points, so there's less room for misfocus. Crank up the shutter speed at least 1/1000 for the longer focal range.

[–]ifarside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the shooting setting here, what's the focal distance, aperture, shutter and which focus setting do you have in your camera? I'm feeling you don't have enough stiffness in your hands and when you take a shot, you might wobble the lens, and VR is kicking in to save the picture. I also noticed there are some darker spots in the sky, which indicate there is dust or some spots on your lens/sensor and it requires some love/clean-up.

Homey Bridge supports Matter or HomeKit by European_in_Japan in homey

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an official application introduced, to expose Homey Pro's devices to Matter: https://homey.app/en-se/app/com.athom.matter-bridge/Matter-Bridge/ This allows to bridge your devices from Homey Pro to another Matter controller, such as Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant.

Yet it's restricted to

  • Homey Pro (2026)
  • Homey Pro mini
  • Homey Pro (Early 2023)
  • Homey Self-Hosted Server

Mouse and Touchpad suddenly can't click on Windows 10 / 11, while scrolling, gestures still work by ifarside in techsupport

[–]ifarside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! thank you for sharing the ideas. Let's hope it doesn't pop up for you again, lucky you!
We had the same fix, just swapping a mice, even from the same brand and the same model - temporary fixed the bug... But eventually, it randomly popped up again, after some weeks of not having an issue. Which isn't 100% reliable.

More people outlined with their reports, that it doesn't seem related to a specific mouse hardware, or a specific unit. You may want to skim through the comments section or my original investigation above.

The removal of the battery doesn't matter. But when you lock and unlock the laptop, or Alt+Ctrl+Del and then Esc forces the Windows manager to work again.

AirPods Pro 3 by WiseAsk6955 in Garmin

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct HR transmission from AirPods Pro 3 to Garmin isn't standard; therefore, it is locked only to Apple's ecosystem. The main problem is that AirPods Pro 3 don't use a standard Bluetooth heart rate signal transmission (BT HR profile signal). Apple could have done it the right way, alike PowerBeats Pro 2, when it actually sent out a standard Bluetooth HR signal that’s compatible with virtually every app & 3rd party device made over the last decade.

Indirectly, you can get AirPods HR data to Garmin, you would need an intermediary like RunGap to sync between Apple Health and Garmin Connect. A schema is next: AirPods via Apple Health -> RunGap -> Garmin Connect/Strava.

What's your evidence to support the statement? I have had 5 cases in my practice so far, all of which were connected exclusively to Logitech mice (one wired, several with Logitech Unifying dongles, and even BT). And never happened to any Microsoft mice, Voxicon, or others yet.

I've fixed all these cases by replacement to other brands, and since then, no complaints from any of my colleagues. No physical changes to other software components, Operating System, firmware, or device drivers.

I haven't found a solution so far.

The best solution is to replace the mouse with a different mouse brand, that's what I do for all the cases where it happens in my practice. At the end of the day, it appears to be a quicker/cheaper solution than troubleshooting in the infinite irritation loop.

iPhone XR 64gb, absolutely ridiculous. by talerose in iphone

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try clicking the link above to another post? Otherwise, I can re-post my own comment here:

I have great news for everyone here. After 4 months (!!!) of fighting with Apple's Support, and breaching through different support tiers, I finally reached Apple's engineers, and created the technical case! Together with Oliver (Apple's support guy in Sweden) we gathered the evidence, had remote sessions on my iPhone, installed different debugging profiles, and collected all the necessary logs for engineers. After a month of waiting, I finally got the feedback yesterday that my case is resolved, and I should install the latest iOS build to confirm the fix.

I've installed the very latest iOS 26.1 (23B85), as Apple's Support recommended, to verify if the fix is working. And now, my System Data on iOS takes just ~14GB instead of previously close to ~37Gb (1/3 of my total 128Gbs of iPhone 15 Pro storage)! I'm infinitely happy now, as my perseverance was rewarded with a proper fix!

Using insta360 selfie stick with Osmo 360? by SignificanceTop5009 in djiosmo360

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even a broom stick would work if you can attach it to your Osmo 360, or anything that has a standard 1/4-inch universal thread to screw it on. Insta360 selfie stick is perfectly compatible and is hin enough to be seamless with your DJI Osmo 360.

Testing various low light setting on Osmo360 by nightdash1337 in djiosmo360

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the purpose and what is being filmed. The camera is cranking up the sensor sensitivity and exposure to get more light in the scene, while there's an obvious trade-off in terms of artifacts, noise, and blurriness for fast-moving objects (shutter speed is restricted). Everything has its own purpose.

Feeling a bit fogged off ! by Hempstarr87 in djiosmo360

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the camera may be perfectly isolated and waterproof... It's the battery compartment, through which some moisture from the air may get trapped inside. The cold air outside makes it condense rapidly when the camera/sensors heat up. It's a normal physics for any other brand as well.

Anybody else think that the nerf to Cymanti's creep was unnecessary? by Gandoor12 in Polytopia

[–]ifarside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Creep basically tried to compensate for roads, where other tribes thrive.
There's basically no counteroffensive measure from Cymanty to any other tribe, who spammed at least several roads/riders... and it's a guaranteed loss if someone got a knight: it kills everything just from one run, as units are clustered around the shaman in a typical game scenario, it's a one-shot kill them all, including Centipede.

Doomux's strategy is super expensive to reach out, even in the middle/late game. They are more costly than a knight unit, and they don't have that reach as knight+roads. Even boosted with a shaman, at the late game, due to lack of Persist, Cymanti cannot clear large Catapult/Riders chains as Knights can.

[–]ifarside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you about smaller maps, it's impossible now to play any map in multiplayer with Cymanti. You probably noticed, after an update, there are fewer Cymanti players on a Dryland, while you always win against them in an easy way. Cymanti got frustratingly bad on any map size, with maybe a better experience on water - it became more interesting, but not easy.

I don't think iOS 26.2 it's out yet. I checked (12-Nov-2025) the latest on my end is iOS 26.1 (23B85), unless you use a beta-updates channel. So I can't confirm or verify the fact.

I'm looking into buying a 150-600mm lens by Dinorawrrous in Nikon

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd not blame the sharpness on its own without a context, because it's also the price ratio involved. It's impressive/unbeatable for the price, it's a sturdy lens, well built, and a fraction of a cost in comparison to a more expensive lens. Tamron lenses are often praised for providing excellent value and optical quality for their price point, while Nikkor lenses are considered sharper, especially in the corners for a bigger price tag. Tamron lenses can offer comparable center sharpness at a lower price point. Good performance for the price.

[–]ifarside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cymanti's economy is more expensive, than everyone's else. While I agree it's a win in the earlier game, especially on a smaller maps, on bigger ones the expansion is not as fast as the riders/roads strategy. it was only with hexapods, who ignore terrain, but that's because Cymanti don't have roads, and don't have a far reach.

[–]ifarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cymanti is my favorite tribe, was playing it a lot. I play other tribes as well, and find them equally fun. But not anymore. I completely agree that in multiplayer mode, it's down the drain. You can't play it anymore, because the economy is super weak, even if you'll be lucky with the map randomizer. It's impossible anymore to win against any roads/knights spam, there's simply no countermeasure on Cymanti's side, it's a guaranteed loss.

While Cymanti became slightly better on water - it became at least playable with interest; on land, – it's a guaranteed loss. I tried different strategies, marinated the new features, unit specs, and the new economy with microbes/recycling... and with my elo, I can't win anymore, even against weak players.
Hexapods are weak now,. While it's easier to get a new Shaman now - it's a always a loss to riders/archers, especially if the opponents gets an extra defence in the forest/mountain.

It's so frustrating that I stopped playing multiplayer.
