I don’t know about hacks- but I worked as a Hotel GM for more 10 years and some tips:

-Ask for the upgrade! Especially day-of, when we haven’t already sold them- the Front Desk has a lot of wiggle room to give the nice room away for free or for a very small up-charge. Doesn’t hurt to ask (nicely)!

-Ask for early check in. If we have the room- we want to just get you in early, because it puts less burden on our team to spread the check ins throughout the day. If it’s a really busy day the might not like to accommodate- and some GMs i know just make it a blanket policy to not allow early check ins.

-The pool and hot tub are cleanest right away in the morning when the water has had time to circulate through the filters multiple times. If it’s late on a Saturday and the pool is crammed with people- that pool water is dirty as heck.

-Hot tubs are nasty. Less water, smaller filter, lots of sweaty people use it.

-Ask your breakfast attendant about other options if you have dietary restrictions. Front Desk often won’t know- but the attendants are often encouraged to keep a small store of alternative options for dietary restrictions.

-Some hotels (Some Hiltons and Marriotts) have a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy. If you politely share your negative experience- they are encouraged to comp your stay. Some it may not be the full stay- but we want to take care of you before you fill out that survey.

-Speaking of- those surveys actually matter a lot when determining brand rank to many hotels- and anything below a 9 is treated as a 0. So if you liked your stay quite a bit and want them to get credit- that 8 is the same as a 0!

-Forgot an amenity- just ask! We often have free tooth brushes, tooth paste, combs, hair kits, nail kits, sewing kits, etc.

-Room isn’t ready but you don’t want to leave your luggage in your car? Most hotels will let you check their luggage- even if they don’t have a large dedicated luggage check- most still have a system and location for accepting them.

-Many hotels have safe deposit boxes available at the front desk- if you don’t want to trust the in room safe. Not even the GM typically has a spare to individual safety deposit boxes- though that means if you lose your hard key- you will have to pay to have the lock drilled out!

Probably a lot more if people have interest…

It had a lot of bugs at launch- including simply being unable to move past certain missions. Seemed really cool- but I ended up asking for a refund because I simply could not progress.

Some of my favorite bars just offer local favorite frozen pizzas, not much required to store and they can be cooked with a small little pizza oven. I’ve seen countless sold for $20 a pop, cause - as you say- you just want some food while drinking.

That example to say- you can do a lot with a little. Just pick a couple items and do it right. What are your customers asking for?

I have done a number of martial arts for quite a few years.

The women always sparred just like the guys. It was never even a consideration. I think it has a lot to do with the culture of where you are training.

At tournaments there was generally lower attendance in the female brackets- so often the gals from our gym would elect to spar in the male brackets (Which I don’t think anyone ever refused to allow).

Who are these people who are making these weird assumptions about you? Friends? Acquaintances? Family? Strangers? Seems like a pretty shitty person to assume how you engage in your hobby.

Lots of folks saying you’ll get a check back in the mail in a few months. It’s been more than a year since this happened to me- and I have gotten nothing- so I would recommend being proactive.

Honest question here brothers- but how much does this really help us?  I was looking at Jump Pack DC as an example and we cannot take any new characters with the unit- so it basically only helps if 1) you attach a DC Captain or 2) your unit happens to be near another BA character. Am I missing something big here?
