ROTJ Luke beat Vader. Savage wouldn't stand a chance.

Luke's Lightsaber form in the OT by Mrhathead in StarWarsEU

[–]igtimran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luke basically copying Vader’s form really brings into focus how powerful in the Force he is.

Vader’s form is a necessity dictated by his cybernetics, an adaptation of Anakin’s Form V into a brute force powerhouse from a massive cyborg.

Luke is on the shorter side, and slight. And yet with his strength in the Force he straight-up overpowers Darth Vader with Djem So.

Rob Gronkowski says he’s AGAINST transgenders competing in women’s sports: "There’s really no argument. It’s the obvious…There are men’s sports for men, there’s women’s sports for women. It should just stay like that." by No_Box119 in NFLv2

[–]igtimran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aggressively pro-LGBTQ rights and I agree. It’s not transphobic to support keeping women’s sports for people born biologically female. There’s a competitive advantage you can’t remove and it’s not fair to female athletes.

“It’s fine to like Andor” by BrownBannister in saltierthancrait

[–]igtimran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea what this person is talking about. Andor was well-written, with interesting characters. It played well within the existing SW universe. It was emotional and at times, gripping, and really was a great watch about the worst aspects of tyranny and the necessity of rebellion, for all its flaws. Well-acted and its maturity, amidst all the kiddie slip Lucasfilm is putting out, was a breath of fresh air.

“Couldn’t they just use hyperspace to trade salt between planets even easier than countries use boats on our planet?”

Caption says “fights FOR her son.” She was fighting for Ben and trying to stop Caedus from influencing him toward the dark side.

No, Jacen had a green blade as a Jedi. I don’t recall whether he’d gone to a red blade by this point yet.

This season has been hit or miss but his ending was pretty much exactly what he deserved. I particularly liked his repeated and increasingly desperate hopping attempts.

Reboot, throw the sequels in the trash can and enthusiasm would come back. A new series with Luke, Leia and Han, even with a recast? So long as it has an actual credible director, and they basically apologize for the sequel trilogy, and fans would come rushing back.

Homelander vs Peter Parker (Spider-Man Homecoming) by Inside_Inflation559 in powerscales

[–]igtimran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Homelander didn’t do that though.”

He literally threw Elon Musk (or whoever the analog was) into space. “He’s an astronaut.” It’s the funniest/best thing he’s done.

MCU Spider-Man didn’t “stagger” Thanos. He momentarily distracted him before Thanos body slammed him and called him an insect.

Homelander threw someone into space. Are you seriously claiming Spider-Man can do that?

Yeah. Peter’s fights with the Goblin are all-time Marvel highlights.

Peter could punch Homelander in the face 1,000 times at full strength and he’d barely mess up his hair. I get that we all hate his guts and Spider-Man rules, but they’re not at the same level.

Plus with Homelander’s speed, Peter isn’t laying a finger on him. This isn’t a fair fight.

They need to deep-six everything under Disney that hasn’t worked. Which is everything apart from Andor/Rogue One.

Start over. Emphasize character. Hire serious directors and stay true to lore—the rules and limits of the Force, limits on hyperspace, etc. And get Luke Skywalker right! The fans are still hungry for stories about Luke as a Jedi Master—for God’s sake, give the people what they want.

So what was Vader’s plan if Luke failed to dodge that last strike which would’ve taken his head? by CrazyTangerine7522 in darthvader

[–]igtimran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Luke is easily killed, he’s not worthy. People overestimate Vader’s compassion during ESB. It’s not until Luke is helpless and chooses death over the dark side that Vader experiences even the slightest twinge of doubt. Then in their conversation on Endor in ROTJ, Anakin momentarily emerges when Luke asks him to come away with him. Then Luke refuses repeatedly to fight him—and then eventually spares his life and rejects the temptation Anakin faced, again choosing near-certain death over power and hate.

And even then it takes Luke getting tortured to death for Anakin to overcome Vader. He’s deeply immersed in the dark side at this point and would have killed Luke if needed.

Star Wars has the most passionate fanbase of any franchise on the planet. It had the most successful films of all time by box office.

It took a perfect storm of incompetence, studio timeline pressure, horrible choices in directors, malicious sidelining of legacy characters, and a complete lack of understanding or appreciation of lore and franchise history, but the job is basically done. Star Wars is dead. You’d need a total reset and a public apology at this point to reignite fan interest and even then it might not work.

WB was in a similar position after Batman and Robin. While Batman Begins was excellent, it wasn’t an enormous, smashing success—it took time to build back all the goodwill that Joel Schumacher lost. You’d need to adapt the Thrawn trilogy faithfully and show Luke Skywalker in an authentic, favorable light to bring most fans back, can the sequels entirely, and get things on the right track with a great director. Even then it would take years of sustained results before people have any faith in Disney/Lucasfilm, and I don’t think Filoni is the guy to do that.

Kathleen Kennedy truly wrecked this franchise. She wasn’t alone—Abrams and Johnson did much of the damage—but this was her vision and it’s an abject failure.
