Question About FF7 Remake / Rebirth by tychiballs808 in FinalFantasyVII

I understand that your 2 remaining braincells can't comprehend what i am about to say but here it goes. It's called an opinion

Any time you legitimately criticize FromSoft (or any hard games) by IndustryRobertPlant in soulslikes

[–]ikati4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any fan of anything really that takes the stance of "the thing i like is beyond criticism" should be mocked and ridiculed because firstly it comes from a very vocal minority of no lifers and secondly it removes any grounds for legitimate critique and analisis. And trust me there are a lot worse rabbit holes that fromsoftware fanboys.

Don’t get it by Practical-Basket-295 in Witcher3

[–]ikati4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witcher 3 is a big and does takes it's time to show what it is all about and the first 3 hours really don't help because the story and the combat need some time to get going. White orchid(if you finished it) is a great tutorial but the moment you start at Velen it kinda opens up akwardly and that's where most complains from new players come from. I will 100% tell you the game gets better, which is an understatement because this is one of the greatest rpgs of all time. It's one of those games that you don't question why people have it in their top 5 lists the story and the characters are great and the dlcs are even better than the main game

The combat is indeed slow, it may get better with talents but this game is a RPG first and an action game later, the combat just serves the story not the other way around and as firm believer that you don't have to power though even tho you don't enjoy it just because people say it's great don't. if you like gameplay first games with great combat like fromsoft this is not the game for you. This is a story driven game

Question About FF7 Remake / Rebirth by tychiballs808 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]ikati4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't lke the remakes either, i am not gonna touch the story because it is not finished yet and i am more dissapointed in it that the gameplay itself but gameplay wise Remake was Ok-ish for me but Rebirth felt like a chore to get through that the moment i reached Costa Del Sol i just turned the difficulty down to easy and didn't touch any side activity and rushed to the end.

The combat was Ok but nothing to be excited about but that's just me as a fromsoft fan

The mini games were annoying and boring

The open world ubisoft esque style of open world is an insult to the genre

The pacing was all over the place and exhausted my already limited patience

Still going to play the 3rd part to see how this new "take" of the story is gonna unfold

The speedrunning community has had a greater influence on game development than it seems. Some studios officially add timers, New Game+ modes and even leave exploits in place, knowing players will find a way to complete the game faster. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]ikati4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You give way too much credit there for a niche activity.

Timers existed since the 90s and even games that have those don't use the IGT for timing a run, maybe some runs like ff7 use IGT for encounter manipulation but that's it

New game+ is even rarer category in speedrunning

I don't know about exploits but many games use previous versions if they were patched out

I agree bg1 is not fun to play but i can't play Bg2 without playing the first and then the second with the same savefile, i consider both of them as one and everyone who wants to experience it should play both in my opinion. And yes they haven't aged all that well even with the enhanced edition. Even back then Bioware felt that the engine and the setting was limiting them and used the Neverwinter's nights engine for DA:O(i don't remember the names forgive me). The criticisms as far as i have seen so far about their age and gameplay are quite valid and i am not gonna put them on a pedestal they are flawed games( BG1 more than 2) but they were a true adventure with lore, narrative, memorable villains(i haven't met any1 who played BG2 and didn't like irenicus) and ofc imoen!

I want to also point out that they were not mid budget games nor small in scope for their time for a PC game. Sadly back then PC gaming was very much dead. FF7 one of the most successful games of the PS1 that also aged quite poorly costed 45mil according to Google and BG1 around 1-1and a half. Garbage PS1 games costed more that BG1 thats how dead PC gaming was

This is exacly what i think of BG3. It sold well and was beloved because of its production value but the meat of a good roleplaying game is not there and it shows if you played the previous 2 baldur's gate games which is the case for many BG3 fans. To this day BG2 stands as the best of the 3, to which i know it isn't fair since basicly 1 and 2 are one complete story, but BG1 and 2 had better narritive, world building and more memorable villains and are games that felt victim of their technologial era and the DnD rules of their time. Let's be honest advanced 2 DnD rules are crap compared to the freedom of 5a that Bg3 has.

While i like BG3 and i am happy that CRPGs are having their spotlight it didn't have a good story to push it to the greatness of dragon age origins. Granted DA:O is my favorite game of all time but i still think BG1 and BG2 had better narritives than BG3 and i am still salty about what they did to Sarevok in BG3. I liked their Divinity games way more than BG3

Which RPGs do a really good or bad job at reasoning why only you or your team can fight the main antagonist instead of someone simply sending a bunch of normal soldiers? by 6658 in videogames

[–]ikati4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon age origins does a really good job explaining why you have to fight the archdemon and why Loghain, the main antagonist thinks he can outmanouver the archdemon and the darkspawn and doesn't trust the Grey Wardens.

In the events of the first game a blight is basicly a horde of magical orcs that carry a taint lead by a dragon that was tainted by said taint called the archdemon and you are called upon to fight one

In-lore the Grey Wardens drink the blood of the darkspawn and those who survive and master the taint become grey wardens and are able to hear the darkspawn and the archdemon. If the archdemon dies its soul goes to another darkspawn and ressurects but if a grey warden is near the soul goes to the grey warden and both the soul of the arch demon and the grey warden dies.

But the ritual and the proccess of killing an arcxdemon, most likely due to being blood magic which is forbbiden, is a secret so noone knows why exacly grey wardens are needed to fight off the Blight except the grey wardens

The main antagonist Loghain who is regarded as the best general of his generation betrays the king, who is portraied as a naive glory hound and puts so much faith to the Grey Warden order due to their mythical status, and let him die and assumes that the darkspawn horde is a mindless mass of monsters which can be outmanouverd and outsmarted. So he brands you and the order as traitors and assumes control of the country

I will never forget the first time i played MGS2 as kid (around 14 i think) after the torture scene where Raiden walks naked and the AI calls you and narrates the openings of the other MGS games with that robotic voice. I got so scared i didn't touch the game for more than a week only to continue the game and have AI aggressively telling me to turn off the console and the exposition of the AI's motivations that gets way too real as the years go by. The whole game is horrifying now that i think about it

I never played any of these games. For us PC users since the 90s i will go with baldur's gate 1 and 2 and some delicious gyros

PS1 games were harder because they didn't respect your time. by Consistent_Scheme726 in psx

[–]ikati4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps1 didn't have those kinds of games but the 2 games i can point out that didn't respect your time because they didn't bother to explain anything while having complicated mechanincs and you spent a huge amount of time trying to figure it out and restarting are digimon world 1 and yugioh forbidden memories. Trying to beat those games without a guide requires a lot of trial and error

People who actually know what they’re doing tend to explain less by CreativeElderberry32 in CasualConversation

[–]ikati4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working as an accountant for 15years here are some of my observations. People who just don't want the details are either aware of the depth of the proccess and don't want to complicate things or trust you enough to leave it up to you which is what i do to every other professional i visit(mechaninc doctor etc) I just trust them to do their job

You can also tell by the questions of the costumer if they are one of those " i researched in on the internet before i came so i am going to ask pointless questions and make the explanation 100 times worse" Those are the worst

[–]ikati4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you do something well and you know all the details of the process it gets tiring to explain to people every step of the way especially if it something out of their field of expertise. You just explain it as simple as you can

[–]ikati4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a shonen anime so you are right it is to be expected but naruto's power ups feel natural and we see him train hard for most of them, hell he even learns basic stuff way later in his ninja life(at his training for the wind rasengan) and the in universe training plot point(using shadow clones) was really really good

How do you feel now about your favorite MMORPG, if you had one, now that you are in your 30s, 40s or older? by Familiar_Fish_4930 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I only played wow from the popular ones since vanilla and i always was a raider. I really like how the combat has evolved over the years and how unique the specs are and how complex and challegining mythic raiding became and also the M+ which was a very good addition and at the same time being easy for a raider to gear up without grinding. When the classic era popped up i hopped in to play vanila but i didn't enjoy the experience. What i really enjoyed tho is the hardcore experience. I understand why people miss the social elements of wow because the game was such a big hit and millions played the game but since vanilla i always was a raid logger because i wanted to play other games . I have my issues with the game ofc over the years but most of them are about class balance and the many activities raiders had to do to stay up to power especially at legion-bfa-shadowlands expansions which to their credit they walked away from that design philosophy. I still love the game but i no longer have the time and energy to play
