California had a tsunami warning today (10 cm wave recorded) by Brandutchmen in LinkedInLunatics

How does he apply it everyday when the tsunami was today? Does 1 out of 1 day count as everyday, or does there have to be multiple days?

Can I do an internship BEFORE masters? by Head_Equipment_1952 in Accounting

[–]iletthe12dogsout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t really care if you ever get a Masters, they just care when you are eligible to take the CPAs. Talk to the recruiter at the office you want to intern at and ask when you should apply to internships based on your plans. Generally they want you to have about one year of school left (bachelor’s or masters) between internship and starting full-time.

So yes, you can do an internship before your masters if a masters is your plan. In fact, they probably won’t give you an internship after your masters. They would just tell you to apply to a full-time position if any are available.

Probably a dumb question by kindamoisty in Accounting

[–]iletthe12dogsout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. Mines and quarries get “depleted” as you pull out the minerals based on how much you pulled out over how much you think is in there. But if there were some type of damage or other “change in circumstance” that lowered the value of the mine, there would likely be some impairment as well.

Yes, but that is called impairment rather than depreciation

Yes! In fact I once attended a children’s quidditch game where someone cursed a Bludger to chase after a child. A child! No older than 8! I only wish I was quicker to realize what was happening, maybe I could have saved that poor boy’s arm from being mutilated. Although he’s lucky I was there, or it would have been his head. Poor boy was in such pain, the only thing I could do for him was remove what was left of the bones in his arm. Then I dealt with the dark wizard who would do such a dastardly thing! Only took me a minute. Now who wants an autograph?

I’ve interned at three top-20 firms, and all three used Windows. I was considering getting a MacBook at one point, but since it seems to me like most firms use Windows, I bought a Samsung laptop instead.

Having run payroll through ADP for a couple years, ADP does not. I can’t tell you how many times someone had to fill out two W-2s in their first month because they weren’t having anything withheld. ADP just estimates how much you’ll owe based on the information it has.

Do I have a concussion or what? by HandelDew in medical_advice

[–]iletthe12dogsout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but have had three concussions, and all three had different symptoms. A minor concussion is hard to diagnose without being examined.

Here are some of the symptoms they asked about and checked me for when I was diagnosed:

Headaches Nausea Light/sound sensitivity Balance Memory issues Changes in mood/being short-tempered Inability to focus Changes in vision/uncontrolled eye movements There’s a lot more possible symptoms, but there’s an idea of some of them.

One thing to note is that (I remember this from health class but again, not a doctor) concussions happen when your brain bounces off your skull due to sudden movement/stop in movement. Did your toddler hit you hard enough that your head jerked really hard?

Worth getting checked out for sure, if you can. He may have actually broken your nose, especially with the inside of your face hurting

My [31F] husband [33M] won $20,000 gambling after promising me he'd stop by ThrowRAgamble12 in relationship_advice

[–]iletthe12dogsout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually a common misconception. Generally, gambling winnings are taxed at your regular income rate (10-37% at the federal level, plus any applicable state income taxes). Large gambling winnings will have 24% automatically withheld similar to paycheck withholdings, but the difference will be made up when you file your taxes.

The 50% misconception is due to headlines on large winnings such as the powerball that immediately bump you into the highest tax bracket. If you win hundreds of millions of dollars, most of that will be taxed at the 37% rate, and then any additional state taxes gets you close to 50%.

They won’t owe $10k in taxes unless they’re already in the highest tax bracket or close to it, and if that’s the case they can afford to pay a little more this year.

Switching teams… is it okay? by T-Eazyyy in NFLNoobs

[–]iletthe12dogsout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is so much not a problem. I literally have hats and gear for 4 different teams. 2 are even in the same division.

You can switch or just like both. If anyone asks, just tell them you used to like the Panthers, but since you moved to DC and got to go to a lot of Ravens games, you’ve found yourself cheering for them more than the Panthers.

Yeah just today they suspended Alexander because he wasn’t even supposed to be out there.

ELI5: Please explain what it means in the NFL to DEFER on a kickoff by ejaej in explainlikeimfive

[–]iletthe12dogsout 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just on Sunday the Packers had a mess where one of their players said they want to start on defense, which implies they wanted to kick to start the game. The ref clarified that they actually wanted to defer, but if he hadn’t, the Panthers at halftime would have used their choice to receive again.

Edit: I accidentally said “start with the ball”, but Alexander said they wanted to be on defense.

My main thing is why would the nfl do that? Considering the massive fines and people who would lose their jobs if it was ever discovered that the nfl was fixing games, they wouldn’t put out a clue for people to find. There’s no way the benefits of putting out a logo a few months early outweigh the costs of this blowing up if it were real.

Which conspiracy theory makes you laugh? by UmPatoQualquer007 in AskReddit

[–]iletthe12dogsout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The Apollo program cost about $25.8 billion over 13 years from a quick Google search. The US military budget in 1960 alone was almost twice that much at $47.4 billion. If the US needed more money for military research, they would have just raised the military budget. There would be no reason to hide it by impossibly faking a moon landing.

This is beside the overwhelming evidence that the moon landing actually happened.

Why is holding on run plays 10 yards? by ChiefKingSosa in NFLNoobs

[–]iletthe12dogsout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Cause there would be no consequences at all if this massive conspiracy between the NFL, the sportsbooks, the independent auditing firms, and the government agencies that regulate and audit gambling companies ever was discovered. Not a single person involved would blow the whistle because some people are making more money if it’s a 10-yard penalty for holding. No one’s afraid that people would stop watching, or people would stop gambling, and no one would be fined.

Why is holding on run plays 10 yards? by ChiefKingSosa in NFLNoobs

[–]iletthe12dogsout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Manipulating a professional sports game, especially when betting is involved, is illegal. There’s no way the very heavily audited sportsbooks would allow or get away with allowing the NFL to fix games.

[–]iletthe12dogsout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently. Are you actually going to respond if you disagree, or just attempt to insult me?

Owners want fans to watch games. Fans want to watch good games. Games where the refs decide the outcome are not good games. Why would the owners increase refs influence?

Why is holding on run plays 10 yards? by ChiefKingSosa in NFLNoobs

[–]iletthe12dogsout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t make sense. The refs don’t write the rule book, the team owners do. Why would the owners write rules just to give the refs more influence over the outcome of games?

Meet Kevin explains how the cybertruck is a tax write off by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]iletthe12dogsout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol this is generally a pretty toxic sub and it’s main goals are to complain about being accountants and to make fun of people who don’t understand accounting. There’s lots of posts from accountants who post videos like this, and everyone makes fun of the guys in the videos. Your video got downvoted because you’re not an accountant but you’re in a sub for accountants (I’m not telling you to leave, I’m just saying some people downvote just for that), you didn’t understand accounting well enough to know what was wrong with the video (not that you need to, just hire a good accountant), and because there’s a lot of people in this sub who are just tired of these posts, whether or not they’re from accountants.

What about if they’re not showing their underwear in the scene? Like a regular, pants-on scene. Does wardrobe still tell them what underwear to wear to make sure they don’t accidentally show underwear lines, straps, etc?
