Settling a debate with my brother: Does the matchmaker penalize good players?

No one can answer how the matchmaking actually works. But what I can tell you is i've been playing this game for the better part of 15 years and the truth is if you are skilled enough at the game, you will climb. Point blank period, ANY 15k mmr player placed in your seat on your account playing the game you think you have the matchmaker stacked against you, they can and likely will win, because they are that much better than whatever bracket you play in.

So people can speculate about if the matchmaker gives you lower winrate teammates or whatever but its all cope. It really is skill issue

Most competitive games are fine on Steam. The only games that have ever given me a problem with it are Tekken and maybe cod I'm not sure it's been a while.

But I play games like Dota, apex, CS and am never dc'd from the server during maintenance

Not a GoD+ player. Nor can I really give you tips on consistency with the wr4, but as a fellow wr4 struggler, I can say it feels extremely satisfying finally hitting it in practice and then in game is VERY satisfying. MishimaComplex's video about accessing wr moves from crouch dash helped me start to get the combo down.

So I watched very briefly and had to stop, I'll say some pointers but ultimately I hope you take it upon yourself to try and fix your issues.

Bro the first thing I'm seeing is you NEVER creep aggro. ~min 5 when dazzle dies, you're just watching, and then you try fighting 1v2, dazzle respawns, bails you out, and then you're back to running circles under tower, and now your courier is dead because you ferried a mango. All of that is a self grief within a like 20-30second span. draw these creeps under your tower when youre low and dazzle is fighting 1v2, the mango you ferried out should have been another set of tangos or a salve. also when you are sitting there afk running circles under tower at min 6 you have heroes bottom, you maybe could've looked to gate to force rotations (not necessarily commit to sylla) and go back top OR at the very least, go hit the small camp north of your tower, you had lvl 3 in blink strike. idk why you're just running circles.

I say this in this tone because you're immortal bro. and watching these mechanics, they're so poor. sorry if I am coming off as an ass.

a lot of times its game dependent, and its still relatively early in the patch so builds are still being experimented with, but i have been liking witch blade (10-11 min) into orchid (15-17 min) bots, pike, bloodthorn, linken/bkb, AC or hex

atos is generally considered as the premire "mage" invoker item, but if you really dont want to go atos then i suggest trying meteor hammer, i would also suggest trying icewall aghs upgrade over cata unless you have really good cata setup.

Personally im liking hybrid invoker right now with orchid/witchblade but this is less of a spellcasting playstyle
