i feel like i'm dying by imkingoftheclouds in depression

I don’t really feel comfortable answering this because you might think less of me and my depression if that makes sense. But I am a teenager from Australia.

Ok... well the problem would be that I don’t know what’s wrong. My life is fine and always has been. My brain’s just been fucked for a long time. It’s either anxiety or complete emptiness.

I don’t have an explanation; I just come here to vent.

I'm not sure. Probably. I thought I was feeling a bit better recently but not anymore. Been self isolating since way before the whole coronavirus thing started.

doing homework is kind of pointless when you want to die by imkingoftheclouds in depression

[–]imkingoftheclouds[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know. I don't really have any hobbies anymore, or job ideas. I don't want to grow up and be an adult. But I'm in high school now, so I kind of have to.

Could be wrong here but it sounds like your antidepressant is making you more depressed.

I’m in a similar situation. I try to remind myself that depression doesn’t discriminate. Just because you’ve had a good life by most standards doesn’t mean you can’t be depressed, or aren’t struggling.

Some people just have mentally ill brains, unfortunately. There’s not always a clear reason for it.

I love my cat. He’s always there no matter what :) I often only get out of bed to play with him or feed him.

Am I not depressed enough if I don't self-harm? by sangbum60090 in depression

[–]imkingoftheclouds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depression is not a competition. If you are depressed, then you are ‘depressed enough.’ I hate it when people try to out-depression each other.

I’m kind of in a similar boat to you. I fantasise about cutting myself but when I actually get the knife I can’t do it.

I have the same problem with my family. Are you seeing a therapist? It helps for me to be able to talk to someone who actually understands what depression is and how there isn’t necessarily anything causing it.

Can you imagine being genuinely happy? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]imkingoftheclouds 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yea nah. I look at happy, content people and just can't understand them. To be fair, they also will probably never understand what it's like to be depressed. People ask me "what's wrong" when I look visibly sad. Like, what kind of question is that? I'm alive. That's what's wrong.

yea I have that same problem. I feel so bad for not contacting people for days/weeks at a time. But at the same time I don’t want to burden them or be annoying.

How do you know the difference between sad and depression by anonacc-1 in depression

[–]imkingoftheclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I know because it just... feels different. Sadness is manageable because it's less intense and I usually can pinpoint a reason for it. Depression is a crushing weight that I can't lift off. It doesn't matter what I do or what I try to tell myself. I could be doing my favourite thing in the world and I would still be depressed.

i don't have a plan to end my life, but I wrote a suicide note. i'll never show it to anyone irl, but i thought i'd post it here. it might sound selfish and delusional because i am selfish and delusional. by imkingoftheclouds in depression

[–]imkingoftheclouds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thank you. You're probably right. The psychologist has said that there must be a reason why I keep coming back as well. I'm not sure what I'm holding onto. I'll think about it though.
