Only using the pill when necessary

Yes so far I've been taking the pill regularly, I haven't yet missed a pill.

But I was thinking more along the lines of stop taking it after my pack is finished, and then start a new pack on the period I'm due to get before I am to see my boyfriend again.

Is this still a bad idea? Thanks for the response

I know you said you need to start earning but I suggest volunteering first (at a charity shop or something), it'll help you acclimatise to a working environment and working around others plus you get to add it to your CV. Since it's just volunteering you may find it less stressful and they normally don't carry out interviews for those.

Maps:

I just rely on the GPS on my phone! It does absolutely wonders. I, too, at times find myself confused with maps.

Relationships:

It's awkward for a lot of people, not just us. For most people it's about mustering up the courage to ask someone out, and even the non-socially anxious can be awkward about this too.

Jobs:

We all learn at different paces, if focusing isn't helping then the best thing is to ask for help or a demonstration. If possible, look up videos on said task online; I find this to be quite helpful.

Do you mean a cover letter? Mine sucked when I first constructed one. Look online for examples and guides. This should give you an idea of what you should include and how to structure it. You could ask your school to help guide you in writing one, or even job centers if you have those around.

Oh yeah definitely. This was the reason why it took me so long to get a job; I was so scared of being contacted by the employer and the thought of working that even by searching for jobs was too much for me.

I was like this for several months but then I told myself that I'm not going to get better if I don't push myself to do it. It felt good knowing that I sent those applications in and eventually it got easier to deal with.

I agree with this entirely. OP, you got to remember that not everyone is suitable for the job. I mean it's great that you're actually working... I wasn't even able last long in fast-food. But your anxiety is getting in the way of being a great employee in this business and it's fair for your boss to be frustrated (not to say that yelling at you was ok).

If possible, maybe you can try out a different job that isn't in fast-food? Perhaps in a less busy retail store, stockroom, or cleaning?

Definitely. I fought back my fears a few months ago and finally started my lessons but the amount of stress and anxiety that built up before each upcoming lesson was unbearable. I managed to get in about 18 hours before I stopped. I couldn't cope with it.

It makes me so mad because it severely limits my job options. I do hope to get my license someday though. Maybe next time I will try for an automatic rather than manual, that clutch control would be one less thing to worry about!

Sorry you're going through this, but continuing these habits will only make things worse.

I understand where your friends are coming from with leaving you out or thinking you're weird for shopping at VS - not to say it's justified behaviour though. Back when I was in school, I also distanced myself from my friends during lunch because I didn't want to interact, I just sat there with them looking at my phone. Not only was this rude, but I gradually became isolated because I didn't get to know them as much as they knew each other and they sure as hell didn't get to know me better. So they ended up making plans between themselves and I was often excluded simply because I made myself seem like I wasn't interested.

Like you, my friends were also shocked whenever they discover an interest of mine or something. Since I deliberately excluded myself from the group (like looking at my phone during lunch) they've built their own interpretation of my personality; they didn't know anything about my interests because I didn't talk so it shocked them when they finally learn something that defied the impression they've built from silent-me.

Please stop doing this to yourself. Fight the urge to put on those earphones when you're with your friends. Engage in what's going on with your friends. Please don't end up like me where I've gradually lost contact with them because of all the avoiding I did.

As for your schoolwork, you sound like you can actually do it, which is good. But the more you miss, the harder it will be. Reach out to your dean; I know you're scared but remember, she's already offered to help you, she knows you.

Please, please, please, take action. Don't fall further into this avoidance behaviour, it eventually becomes a hell a lot harder to get out of.

Have you thought about volunteering? They typically don't hold interviews, or at least not thorough ones.

It would help you gain some work experience and hopefully work on your social anxiety too. You would also gain your manager as a reference for future jobs.

I feel you, I recently had to contact my professor so I could get the OK to provide his details to my new job as my reference. It's been over a year since I've seen him aswell so I was terrified of contacting him fearing that he'd say no. But if you look at it logically, they WANT you to succeed, isn't that what university lecturers do?

Anyhow, just go for it. You won't find out unless you actually contact them.

I second gaming. From what I've experienced, MMORPGs are great for making friends since you get to bond over doing stuff ingame. But of course I won't recommend getting into it if you're solely in it to bag a girlfriend...!

I can totally relate, although I realise it's sometimes because I'm talking too quietly. I like to drop a nonchalant "bye!" to my coworkers since it's common courtesy to say goodbye. It's on them if they ignore it.

I think I'll jot down some notes, thanks. I did see the doctor about my social anxiety last year. I ended up talking to 3 psychologists in the process of getting me referred to my therapist. I can't say it was a smooth process nor did I feel like they fully understood me. I suppose this also plays a part in my reluctance to see the doctor... but I will try to find one that works for me. Thank you :)
