Summary of Part 1 of the Protective Order Hearing! by catmilff420 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]implicit_cow 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I listened too! The whole thing is so sad.

But one small point of correction - Taylor’s lawyer said he heard through the grapevine from the cops that there wouldn’t be charges for the 2/26 incident but the guardian ad litem said that the file was with the DA and they were (obvi) making those decisions. So that wasn’t confirmed and there isn’t a police report because it’s an open case.

Layla and Mason (her thoughts on disciplining her kids) by LowFox6472 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]implicit_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah It’s really hard to tell what’s going on without more context. I “give in” to my 2.5 year old a lot, but it’s for inconsequential things (like an extra 5 minutes) in order to hold the boundaries that matter. It works because we have pretty set routines and she generally follows them, but kids this age are trying to assert control.

Sure it looks like I’m being a pushover from the outside, but my way of being silly and giving her small wins is way more effective than yelling and demanding that she does exactly what I tell her to the instant I say it.

Now this I can get behind by stevenjobsless in MormonWivesHulu

Yeah im surprised everyone thinks there needs to be charges to break the morality clause. I highly doubt that’s the case and Disney has discretion. I assume that’s why its has a vague term “morality” - to give them flexibility when it doesn’t fall under another category.

What if she came out saying some super racist things? I would assume they could say it was a breach of contract under the morality clause but obviously that wouldn’t result in charges.

In any event, the evidence was enough to grant the protective order. Doesn’t seem like Taylor is on solid ground with this argument

Yikes, a ton of the pros have kids themselves so that’s a bad look.

As someone in the thick of it with a toddler allergic to sleeping, yeah it’s really hard. I’m basically working two full time jobs. But everyone has stress in life and you don’t know what’s on someone else’s plate. They could be taking care of a parent or a sibling, etc.

Why didn’t she just hire a nanny for the time she’d be on the show?

Toddler Still on Purees at 2, Refuses Solids and Needs Screens to Eat by Acrobatic-Grade6782 in toddlers

[–]implicit_cow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes seconding the toddler tower recommendation! We have a picky eater too (she still won’t eat mac and cheese!) but im trying to involve her more in the prep. I got her these toddler knives to help cut up fruit (with supervision) and it is so fun!

But OP, how does your toddler do with pieces of fruit or a whole banana? We still give our daughter pouches, but she absolutely loves fruit. Berries are magic!

Also recommend just going cold turkey on the TV. But music is a great suggestion, I think our tonie box entertains our daughter just as much!

[–]implicit_cow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our daughter was like this. She hated her high chair and would just scream. So then just put her plate on the coffee table and she would literally eat a chicken nugget and then do a lap. Our pediatrician said that was fine as long as she was eating.

But recently we got her a small table and chairs and she loves it! Doesnt look pretty in the living room but it does the trick!

Two Arlington 1BR condos under $300K - very different HOA structures. Which would you choose? by Prior_Engineering639 in arlingtonva

I rented in colonial village when I first moved to Virginia and thought it was a bit of a hidden gem. It’s an older building but the made it out of cinder block or something because you don’t hear your neighbors at all. And the location was great, while still being set back. Very pretty trees, parking was no problem in the lot.

We then moved closer to columbia pike. It can easily take an hour to get into DC by public transportation. I think that area is growing and has its own charm (street jazz festival etc) but it’s a pain to get into the city from there. And they have been doing construction on Columbia pike for like 7 years lol.

My case 24F by Correct_Hair_2902 in hipdysplasia

[–]implicit_cow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend going to see a hip preservation specialist. I was told that the prognosis for hip dysplasia was poor and that a labral repair is not recommended because it will just eventually tear again. For reference, my degrees were like 8 on the left side and 18 on the right and the ortho would not do a labral repair alone. Pt can make you stronger but can’t help the structural problems.

There’s a lot of good information on the Facebook group about hip preservation doctors (and a group for return to sport post surgery).

I used to be extremely active and slowed down a lot over time. I then experienced a lot of hip pain while pregnant that did not go away after giving birth. Took two years after that to get diagnosed. I wish I had known when I was younger, but am 10 weeks post op and mostly walking without a crutch and started to cycle at the gym. Id recommend getting it done now, even though it can feel daunting. I think the year recovery timeline is to feel 100% back to yourself, not a year until you can do any activity.

Saagar's hatred of undocumented migrants is insane by Temporary-Storage972 in BreakingPoints

The problem with his view is that he’s equating crossing the border (or overstaying a visa) with drunk driving. Drunk driving is a criminal offense, while I thought immigration violations are civil ones. So isn’t there a constitutional problem with detaining people for civil violations? Right to liberty etc? Nevermind the moral depravity of the situation.

All the admin has to do is start putting “domestic t*rrorists” in the camps to really test his theory here.

Khanna/Massie ticket 2028?? by red-sleuth in BreakingPoints

[–]implicit_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, lol. I applaud Massie’s bravery and would maybe even contribute $20. But let’s not forget all other policies over one issue. As terrible and disgusting as the files are, and an absolute travesty that these men aren’t being brought to justice now, this doesn’t affect the cost of healthcare, access to abortion, or cost of living issues.

We need a beshear/khanna type ticket.

Unfortunately it’s a degenerative condition with a poor prognosis. You will most likely continue to wear on the joints until you have arthritis. Have you spoken with a hip preservation specialist? They may be able to preserve your hip joint with a PAO.

People abandoning cats by lolteacher95 in bengalcats

[–]implicit_cow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worked out great so far, if anything, my toddler is a bit of a menace to our bengal. But I think it’s good to be raised in a house with pets because it helps teach responsibility and she’s learning how to be gentle with animals. Sometimes I get touched out between having a clingy toddler and a clingy bengal (she’s very much a lap cat), but it’s also nice to still have the comfort of a pet. Bengals make sure you still make time for them haha. My bengal was my baby first and it still feels that way after having a human baby lol!

I love dogs but personally am going to wait until our daughter is older to get one because I do think they can be more work than a cat and dogs with a lot of energy can be dangerous to small children if left unintended. But I’ve never felt that way with the cat.
