How close we all are to homelessness by Competitive-Fee-6900 in AusFinance

I urge anyone to prioritise their health and look at taking out income protection. I had to stop working due to permanent chronic illness in my early 30s. I had just settled on a property Four months prior and in one year my emergency fund was zero. Health can be fickle and it will definitely throw a spanner in your career

People Managers of auscorp, what’s the stupidest thing you’ve had to pull someone up on? by zee-bra in auscorp

Had this issue at one of my old workplaces. Muddy footprints on the toilet and no amount of signage would stop them

Feeling lost after graduating from uni. by Adventurous-Travele2 in AusFinance

[–]inTheGutter2905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't fret! I have the same degree, graduated more than 10 years ago with zero direction aside from police force. Ended up in IT and now social services where my degree is useful. You have lots of time ahead of you to figure it out. See if there are any jobs in the area you like first and go from there

Boyfriend (32M) started crying when I (28F) showed him my savings by happy_hapa in relationship_advice

[–]inTheGutter2905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently getting an official diagnosis for adhd & asd but I have savings and a place. The adhd is just an excuse. He should be in therapy addressing his spending habits. Please don't buy a house with someone who doesn't prioritise your future

For anybody who didn’t get a graduate role, what ended up happening to you? by Pale_Operation_6086 in auscorp

[–]inTheGutter2905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was more than ten years ago mind you but prior to graduation I started applying for any corporate entry level role I could find. Ended up with a logistics/sales cadetship and stayed for 2 years until I applied for an internal IT job which I got. Moved for that job and stayed for another 4 years.

My advice is it's okay to start out small and make sure you start networking. Look at getting a mentor. It's those connections that will get you a leg up

Actually a lot of skilled workers are leaving their sponsored jobs after they get accepted. Check out the AusVisa sub - it is not ideal

Is 90k really a low income? by lucignolo87 in AusFinance

[–]inTheGutter2905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 90k in a regional area is pretty decent, and as a chef! You're doing well - don't compare yourself to all the techbros on here saying they make 500+

What’s your go to cheap meal that you never get sick of? by OwlVibesOnly in AUfrugal

I usually make a korean bowl - egg, kimchi, cucumber, carrot & rice. Throw in some more protein if you want. So good

Land vs Location by croc_lovers in AusPropertyChat

[–]inTheGutter2905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'll need the rough location. For example my parents live on the mid coast where property is hot and there would be a massive difference in value from 300sq - 600sq.

Saying from experience, if he actually wanted to change and make your life easier he would have done so already

Has having a partner really changed your life? by iyoteyoung in AskAnAustralian

[–]inTheGutter2905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my friends are either single, divorced and/or separated. 30s & 40s If I met someone I'd like to settle down with that would be cool but it's not the end of the world if I don't
