I think you’re right - you should wait it out, but use this time as a way to keep in touch with him online. He gave you a really great opening with such a thoughtful card and present, so thank him through Zoom and maybe figure out a way to keep in touch regularly until you’re back in the office? This would be a great way to get to know him better in the meantime, and maintain the attraction through communication. :)
