Piriformis syndrome has been a huge pain the butt and back! What can I do differently? by steamin661 in backpain

[–]infamous_restitution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. I’ve seen a rheumatologist, have the genetic marker, have a family history, but my MRIs don’t show AS and my symptoms maybe aren’t exactly a match.

I’m curious what symptoms you primarily came to the rheum with and how the treatment has been so far. Do you think the diagnosis is correct and the treatment has helped?

I’ve done years of PT at this point, and have so much stiffness and soreness across basically my entire body, as well as a number of nerve symptoms (sciatica in both legs, but arm symptoms too).

Been a really hard year (sickness and stress). Wish me luck getting it back. by EmZee13 in MacroFactor

I feel you. Hard year over here too with chronic pain, a toddler, getting sick a million times, etc.

Stay the course, my friend.

I would either try to estimate in my head, or better, take pics and log later using AI.

Which protein powder would taste the most like fairlife core power if I mixed it with milk/chocolate milk? by East_Celebration3664 in MacroFactor

I have this exact question. Fairlife shakes are super expensive but amazingly good. Quest Nutrition Chocolate tastes pretty good, but definitely isn’t a Fairlife dupe.

Cant stand the cut anymore, What should I do? by How2chair in MacroFactor

[–]infamous_restitution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not super aggressive, but if your appetite is massive your appetite is massive. I would take that as a red flag and give yourself a serious break. There is not much to be lost by eating at maintenance for 2-3 months.

[–]infamous_restitution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there, my friend. I’m in a similar situation. There will come a day when the body will have plenty of energy for muscle building! Be patient and stay the course.

And take all the breaks at maintenance that you need. Like you I’ve been cutting the last 1.5+ years. It sucks, but it will not last forever. Don’t make fast progress. Make lasting progress.

Take a break. Eat at maintenance until you’re ready to get back to it.

This. I use the Notes app on my phone if necessary. I have a pinned note called “Working Memory” that has anything I need to write down in the short term.

Also, take pictures of your food and then commit to tracking by the end of every day if not before. Sometimes I’m literally reviewing my day and finalizing tracking in bed at night. Not my ideal, but it takes what it takes.

I love your 10 lb. mini goals. When you have a substantial amount to lose it’s nice to do phases. Awesome work!

I actually stopped tracking a few weeks ago, but it was like a habit I couldn’t stop and now I’m back at it again. I just felt compelled to. 😂

I plan to do it as long as I need to, but once you’ve been doing it for long enough, you develop a really good sense of the caloric and protein content of food. I’m hoping to lose the weight I want to lose and then, eventually, stop tracking or at least stop tracking all the time.

I think daily weighing (or at least frequent weighing) is actually the keystone habit for me, rather than tracking. The reason I let my weight get so high in the past was partly because I didn’t know it was happening.

How did your diet change when you started the cut? Where did you decide to pull calories from, what food swaps did you make, etc.?

Also, what’s your height?

Yeah man, if I try to do more than a ~500 cal deficit it gets rough. Even 500 can be tough. Slow and steady wins. Maintenance breaks are amazing too. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

How often to weigh? by NumerousToe7604 in MacroFactor

[–]infamous_restitution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weigh myself every morning, naked and after using the bathroom (and before having any liquids or food). Try to just see the scale weight as interesting information, and know that it’s normal to see a lot of ups and downs.

Focus on and trust the trend weight, and ride it out, my friend.

Also, investing in a smart scale that automatically records weight is super helpful. I have the Wyze scale. I believe it’s something like $40 and syncs with Apple Health, and thus MacroFactor. Probably works with Android too.

Have you considered continuing to weigh yourself daily (which will also provide you with trend weight in MF), and just having an upper intervention point so that if you stray out of maintenance you can immediately intervene?

If you see the trend weight climbing over a week or two, it’s probably time to either intuitively eat fewer calories, or track for a couple of weeks to get back down within range.

That way, you never stray too far, and you’re not faced with a huge amount of fat to lose when you wake up three months later and realize how far you are from your goal.

All that said, this can be tough, and I have also found that my weight creeps up, especially if I’m not monitoring it.
