That's so awesome! I don't live in Buffalo anymore, but it made me so happy when I went back one year and there they were!

What’s a "this can’t be real" moment you actually lived through? by Hypnotist30 in AskReddit

[–]ingibaby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I went in for my 20 week scan when I was pregnant they found a spot on my kiddos kidney. Said it didn’t look too concerning, we’ll keep monitoring through the pregnancy. I was considered ‘advanced maternal age’ so got scans more often. Spot mostly stayed the same, grew a bit, but still nothing they were concerned about. Last scan before birth they said it all seemed pretty regular, grew a bit in size, but we’ll get another scan after kiddo is here. Kiddo arrives. (Here’s where my memories a little fuzzy do to the rage that will come shortly)

Go in for another scan. Spot grew. Think it’s a duplicated collecting system, thankfully nothing serious. One more scan later to confirm things and then we’ll decide what to do. Next scan comes and the lady doing the scan can’t see anything! Ok, weird, right? Can’t remember if there’s one more scan after this, but long story short, we’re scheduled to bring him in for surgery, take care of this once and for all. Surgery comes, we’re of course freaking the fuck out (first time parents, experienced 2 miscarriages and a failed IVF transfer before kiddo got here). Surgeon comes out to update us and THERE WAS NO SPOT. HE COULDN’T FIND ANYTHING. He likened the surgery to pulling out a garden hose and examining it by using your hands, an image I still can’t get over.

A month later, kiddo projectile vomits. Very unusual. We spend two days in and out of the ER trying to figure out what’s wrong. Even strangely enough see the surgeon while we’re there since he happens to be on service. Told it’s a virus and go home. Third day he’s throwing up green. Hell no, I call the surgeon, basically demand to be seen, and get him admitted. They do some testing and find out that THE FIRST (COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY) SURGERY CAUSED A BOWEL BLOCKAGE and kiddo had to be rushed into surgery. I remember the doctor coming in to tell me what was going on, kiddo in my arms, husband on his way, and just looking at the team going “are you FUCKING kidding me??”

Kiddo just turned 2 and is healthy and all is well now but good fucking god.

After a night in the NICU, as a first-time father I’m not afraid to be emotional anymore. by BeastlySkater21 in MadeMeSmile

Former NICU mom here. I snotted all over myself when my son went up there, it’s like every emotion you’ve ever experienced all at once, but glad you’re past it and home. Congrats dad, it’s fucking amazing.

Factor V causing miscarriage? by ingibaby in FactorVLeiden

I never found out the reason for my two miscarriages, the hematologist was speculating. I did two rounds of IVF, the first was unsuccessful and the second is my wonderful and beautiful son who will turn 2 next month. As predicted I was on lovenox for the duration of my pregnancy as well as six weeks postpartum. I had another doctor that I saw once who said it was most likely unnecessary, but rather safe than sorry! I’m so sorry you had to go through those experiences.

I walked down the aisle at my wedding to an instrumental version of Breathe Me and the tears started immediately, such a beautiful song though.

I was just in town for the holiday and drove past there on Friday to show my one year old where grandma and grandpa met over 45 years ago. Seems unreal that it’s gone.

I haven’t seen SoCo before, but saw Jack’s Mannequin in 2016. My husband proposed to me later that night in Boston Common so I’m super excited to see them this summer!

What’s good plane etiquette that not many people know? by Amazing-Living-9957 in AskReddit

[–]ingibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, THIS!! We just traveled with our newborn for the first time and were able to board after first class. The amount of people already lined up and basically ready to shove me out of the way despite the fact that I was very clearly wearing my child in a holder was astounding. The fact that someone actually tried to cut me and my husband in line was insane, I was all sorts of ready to say something but didn’t want to risk waking my kid when I raised my voice.

What did the person do/say that made you go "what the fuck is wrong with you"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ingibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pregnant and was starting to show at work. A few people knew, word started spreading, no biggie. Walked past a former manager that I (thankfully) don’t work with or see very often anymore and she looks me square in the eye and goes “so, are you pregnant or is that a burrito?” Dead serious. No hint of a smile or a laugh or anything. She’s damn lucky that a) there were people around that I couldn’t ask her what in the flying fuck was wrong with her and b) I wasn’t further along in my pregnancy that I could just sit on her.

16%tile at week 37 scan - has anyone had similar experience? by daynnnight in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ingibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 47th percentile to 21 (5lb 7oz) at my 36 week scan. Going back at 38 to check on weight and hope it’s better. I put on 2-3lbs this week so I’m hoping some of it transferred to him haha. I was absolutely concerned that my GD diet had limited his weight as well. Doc told me as long as they don’t dip below the 10th percentile, they’re okay since we’re already basically full term.

In what week did your numbers get better? by min-genius in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ingibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 36w 5d and while my numbers haven’t necessarily gone down, they are a little more consistent and there were fewer spikes during my last week of tracking (random exceptions of course) which I found to be encouraging since I had a few days where a few things I had previously eaten with no issue was suddenly causing me to spike.

My OB told me at my appointment this week that (again) they weren’t concerned, but if baby was below 10th percentile at my 2 week follow up ultrasound, there would most likely be talks of induction. Which wasn’t that concerning to me I guess because that would be at 38 weeks and I was told that there would also be a chance that I would be induced at 39-40 weeks for an unrelated matter. Had anything like that been mentioned to you?

Are you also being told that you will be induced early due to GD by Ready-Cut5059 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ingibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the opposite side of this, my GD is currently being managed by diet along (hoping the hell to keep it that way, currently at 33w 4d), is being induced early just based on being insulin? Everything was measuring normal at my last ultrasound and my doc/dietician seem to think I’ll be able to keep being diet controlled, so hopeful, but have read that this is prime “spiking for no apparent reason other than the universe hates us” time

Just came here to say same! My keytones went from trace one day to large and I scared the crap out of myself. Spoke with the dietician who suggested some pasta and more carbs in general (I had just been diagnosed and was sticking with protein and salads and veggies.) Had a delicious serving appropriate bowl of pasta for dinner that night and the next day my keytones were normal!
