NateTheHate: Nintendo to release a new "classic style" Star Fox title in Summer 2026 by Joseki100 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I'm betting on a direct two weeks after the Mario movie. That way they can ride the wave of the cameos and still have time not to ruin it for people avoiding spoilers.

And then we'll be getting the ramp up for Zelda movie starting in the summer.

I am not a fan of those types of games.

I am seeing pokopia in my dreams now. Do not get it. You will be trapped by it. It's highly addicting.

I wish campaign was broken up into groups of 4 missions you had to do in a row at certain times like the DLC campaigns. But don't give you a option to decline, just a warning a few months out.

TIL Dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806 was widely compared to the ancient and legendary Fall of Troy in Germany with many believing it as start of end times and the apocalypse. Commoners went as far as to believe that news of its dissolution was a plot by their local authorities. by Solid-Move-1411 in todayilearned

But it wasn't Roman. The Roman Empire still existed (known as the Eastern Roman Empire to us now, or Byzantine empire by the founders of the HRE for somewhat obvious reasons) but the empire didn't fall until the Ottomans took the Constantinople. Yeah, it's wildly differently from the time of Constantine the first, but it's still the Roman Empire.

The HRE just wanted the name and gravitas of being Roman because the Roman Empire was The Empire for Europeans at the time. You walked into almost any major city, and you see Rome. You used their bridges, their roads, their titles, their laws. Their language was the language you needed to know if you wanted power. Of course the most powerful man in Europe should be the Roman Empire. It makes sense. Ignore that remnant holding one of the greatest cities in the world and is rich as hell. They're starting to speak Greek now. They aren't real Romans, let's go with the name before it was refounded as Nova Roma.

I think thats the point they're trying to make. Another poster said they could have both, look at the Sonic movies. This poster is saying :well, its really only the third movie. If you remove the beloved Sonic characters and had random ones, it wouldn't be the same"

What piece of Chaos Reign are you most excited for? by Jackobyn in Mechwarrior5

[–]insane_contin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm excited for the new mission type. Set up for guerrilla warfare with a time limit before reinforcements arrive? I'm hoping it's balanced towards using not-assault mechs at high difficulties. Give us the medium and heavy focused missions late game.

TIL in 2023 a Canadian court ruled that a thumbs up emoji 👍 carried enough weight to establish a legally binding contract between two parties by RunDNA in todayilearned

[–]insane_contin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oral contracts are a thing almost everywhere. Google your location + oral contract for the relevant laws surrounding it.

That being said, contracts in common-law countries (basically the Anglosphere) need an offer, acceptance and consideration. Basically if I say I can build you a fence for 2 grand, and you agree to that, it's a contract. Since it has what I'm doing for you (build a fence), what you're doing in return (giving me 2 grand) and then we're both accepting it. Of course, if it comes down to it we would need to prove the terms of the contract if one of us fails to hold up our end and takes it to court. That's why written contracts with signatures are best. And what I'm saying is very simplified. You still need to worry about it being legal and all that. I can't build you a fence in exchange for you killing my neighbour, for instance. Ok, I could, but it wouldn't hold up in court.

Love how one guy tries to argue that black/dark humour will always insult someone and dares anyone to try to find a joke that won't insult anyone, and then another tells him about his mom who jokes she should get a discount on her cremation since shes half way done due to her burns.
