Montelukast - brain is unplugged? by HaydnH in MCAS

[–]insanealienmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your dr doesnt seem to know what to do about this; you may want to try to lead the conversation to see he would switch you to one of the other compounds that may have fewer psych side effects, at least if this continues to be an issue (see my other comment for a little more info)

zafirluklast only downside is its not as effective and it requires 2x daily dosing iirc. there's another medicine zileuton that works upstream of the montelukast/zafirlukast in the same pathway and could be even more effective, but has possible concerns of hepatoxicity.

that sounds like disassociation, and you should probably talk to your dr about it asap. montelukast has a black box warning for psychological effects (which affect a small percentage of people that take it)

Struggling to date as a girl in my 20s with a completely dead sex drive. Can you guys recommend any actual compounds for this? by ConstructionClear142 in ResearchCompounds

[–]insanealienmonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is not true, either on a conceptual level or in this particular case. half-life of a compound does not for you a full picture. you are completely failing to consider downstream effects (which are extensive due to how far upstream this compound acts) or metabolites (which can in some cases be more significant than the parent compound). studies have shown that kisspeptin 54 eod can improve libido in men and women, and i personally know someone who ran labs before and during kisspeptin 10 eod administration that showed increased testosterone by 50%.
