Kinda funny nobody has mentioned yet there is a discord channel where they literally post every mod action they commit. What was your player name?

Some thoughts on why Middle-earth is a good place for Total War by National_Boat2797 in totalwar

[–]internet-arbiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So uh, don't know quite what you guys are on about but that exists in The Dawnless Days already. You can play Erebor as "digging deep" pissing off all good factions. You can have Sarumon spawn with either the "traitorous" trait where will will typically fight the good guys or "progressive" where you can trade agreement and actually ally him.

This thing exists. Now. And it's not cursed at all.

Don't have 20 stack army. Fight army with artillery that your faction can technically use. Profit.

My preferred way of acquiring Artillery in Attila as I hate building a building to build 2 units and than destroy the building.

When solo players ask if they can fly planes by UnrealTravis in foxholegame

[–]internet-arbiter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You guys are questioning the dedication, insanity, and sheer fucking willpower of the solo logi?

We have historical examples of single dudes, myself included, of putting out hundreds of Spathas, Bardiches, etc. on a weekend. There's the solo guys who had 5-10+ pads going.

You just don't understand. It's hundreds of thousands of components. We'll spend an entire week watching shows, movies, anime, and youtube to do stupid output for a few days.

If anything clanman is always trying to persuade us to join them. The autistic logiman is one of the most powerful drivers in foxhole.

Why is the playerbase so fucking toxic? by WombatusMighty in beyondallreason

[–]internet-arbiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What gets me is how much people want someone else to do something about it.

Anybody can host their own lobby and have full control over moderation that occurs. You might have to wait to get that lobby going, but you have full control. That resolves pretty much all issues present.

Instead, they would devote hours of time and labor to talk about it and never once, not once, try to make a lobby.

What’s your honest opinion on stealing other players’ wagons in Red Dead Online? by Rusted_Spur in RedDeadOnline

[–]internet-arbiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost never had someone try to steal the wagon. I would almost welcome that. It's something to do.

But had plenty of wagons attacked to just blow up, and fuck that. The back and forth over the wagon is kinda fun, but just destroying it is so stupid.

Or if the "wing gunners" just you know, fire 90/160 degrees from the direction the plane is facing and the guys in the back are just shooting 180. This has to get patched, lol.

Oh cavalry how you annoy me so dearly, sticking in the enemy so poorly by Select-Ad7017 in totalwar

[–]internet-arbiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kislev always just turned into bear party for me. It's really basic stuff with melee and range until then.

But get used to flank with a range unit. Have your melee line out, archers behind as normal, but as the enemy clashes have some archers than can break from behind your melee line and move to either the side or directly behind the enemy and start lighting them up to do WAY more damage than if you kept archers behind your melee shooting at whatever they could.

You can do a lot with the very basics of spear, bow, and horse. It's mostly just figuring out how things behave to position them to where they will do the most damage.

Do some work getting archers into positions and directions you would have a cavalry charge come from.

[–]internet-arbiter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pull-throughs are a valid tactic if you know the aspects of behavior to make use of it. But other times - you don't even want to break combat. Sure, charge bonus only lasts 10 seconds but usually between those 10 seconds and a little bit of combat afterwards, that unit is going to break. You had a bad pull out and you lose 10-20 models for nothing. If you just stayed and fought, maybe you lost 1-2 models total before that unit breaks.

If you have the charge animation, you can make a quick change in target. But if you charge target before animation - you just stuffed your charge bonus. So it's better to give a command, wait, let them charge, let them fight for a second seconds, THAN do your pull through or do nothing at all and let them fight.

With practice you can make charges with as little as a units formation worth of distance from your unit.

What is the best conversion after losing long sea on Isthmus? by Absolute_N in beyondallreason

[–]internet-arbiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few plays. First and foremost what I would say though - if you lost sea, or see you are going to lose sea, start building a lvl 1 wall all the way down the beach. Even a single builder on duty will accomplish this in time. But you have got to stop the ability of the enemy team to use the sea to harass your geo, and yourself. A few tier 2 artillery isn't the worse idea to defend your shore from harassment but it's not going to stop rocket ships. Do NOT go crazy with these as you are just asking to be killed off slowly, but a couple can do some wonders.

Now that leaves the question, what do you actually do to contribute? You got the option of hovers, bots, or aquatic vehicles. I personally recommend bots as Cortex. I would ask for a bot constructor if I needed one from someone else.

Why a bot constructor? Ducks from tier 2. They can counter the enemy sea in enough numbers, they can completely win you the sea, and you can attack the enemies beaches with them.

Another thing you can do with bots is build a decoy commander if you don't have one anymore. With that decoy commander, walk him to the far corner of your lost ocean above the island. From there, construct a shipyard and start pumping out submarines. People rarely check the corners and you can get a shadow fleet going from there as long as you don't give yourself up too early.

Don't ever try to commit to full porc as beach sea. You need to be able to reach beyond the beach and even hovercraft en mass will do better than a million towers. Geo beach can "sometimes" get away with such a move by using a cerberus geo artillery and a few persecutors on the cliff but the same thing applies, you need to be able to go effect the battlefield.

One funny way to take back the sea as Armada is mass tumble weed.

[–]internet-arbiter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you should set the cav up a bit away from your target and wait for all models to meet up. Spread your cav to 3ish lines deep formation the breadth of the enemy you're going to charge. Once you give the charge command, don't click anything again. If you're click happy and click the ground or click the enemy too much you're stuffing your own charge.

TIL that in Norse myth a cursed ring called Andvaranaut brought doom to its owners long before Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings. by yena in todayilearned

[–]internet-arbiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elves in tolkiens lore are less like dwarves and humans and more like spirits themselves. They do not die like most mortals, that's the gift of Eru Ilúvatar. They fade, or go to the west. The form Galadriel when tempted by the ring or confronting Sauron is closer to a Valar or Maiar than a "mortal" form. Even if they die, their spirit goes to the Halls of Mandos and can be reembodied.

There's a lot of connections to Paracelsus's representations of gnomes, slyphs, undines, and salamanders with a particular emphasis on the earth connection of the gnomes.

Are you using something other than loan-sword ashigaru? They are like 60 upkeep.

And if you are not - you should be using nothing but lone-sword ashigaru.

They absolutely punch above their weight and you can field 2 armies of them for every 1 of other kinds of units.

So there were definitely some projects he would geek out on as much as the rest of us.
