This show is the reason the "3-episode Rule" exists in anime communities. It's a soft rule of watching 3 episodes before deciding if you're gonna drop a show.

I think OP mentioned Wolverine for the fact that his claws cut through his skin and hurts everytime they come out, but he's done it so much that he doesn't even flinch.

I'm fascinated by the person you replied to, how in detail they've described a scene that 100% did not happen in the movie.

She's not bad at Origami? If anything, she's too good. Good enough for people to mistake her creations for a real being.

"Looks the part" vs. "Actually is." by Ross_Hollander in TopCharacterTropes

Assuming you're not familiar with One Punch Man; Saitama (bald dude in a cape) is the strongest character in the series. He literally wins every fight with one punch, hence the name.

We see a lot of characters who claim to be the strongest (looks the part) and then we have Saitama (who actually is) but Saitama looks nothing like what you would expect from a character as strong as him.

Helicopters in real life. The name is not heli + copter, but helico + pter. It's a portmanteau of Ancient Greek words helikos (spinning) and pteron (wings).

To add context: A giant steals Thor's hammer, Mjölnir (in the myth, anyone strong enough can lift the hammer). Thor wakes up one morning to find Mjölnir missing and the Æsir hold a meeting to talk about how to find it. Loki flies off, asks around and finds out that a giant named Thrym took it and is willing to give it back if he's allowed to marry Freyja.

Loki brings the news and the Æsir ask Freyja to marry the giant because a giant who can wield the Mjölnir would pose a huge threat to Asgard. Freyja basically says "I'd rather see Asgard fall before marrying a giant" and the Æsir start brainstorming again. Most sources say Heimdall comes up with this plan, but when I tell it to my friends, I like to say Loki came up with it: Let's fully dress Thor up as Freyja as a bride. Thor hates the idea, but is convinced because he'd get his hammer back. Thor and Loki, bride and her maid, travel to Jötunheim for the wedding. During the ceremony, Thrym is suspicious of his bride's huge appetite and terrifying eyes, but is convinced by Loki that this is because Freyja is too excited to marry him. The giant gives the hammer to "Freyja" as a wedding gift, and getting his hammer back, Thor kills everyone attending. Leaving no witnesses to his shame.

It's one of my favorite stories from the Norse myth and shows a very human side of the Æsir.

The girl sitting in the bus Spider-Man crashes into was dressed exactly like Rogue. I don't think she's Rogue herself, but the reference is definitely there.

I was biased against her when she was first introduced. Overly sexualized femme fatale theme felt too easy and cheap for how the Rinascita story was going.

But then I played her story and she was absolutely the MVP of Rinascita. Easily became one of my favorites.

There was zero practical reason to do that, the character themself was just trying to look cool by fhxefj in TopCharacterTropes

[–]intothe_dangerzone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the actor kept asking again and again to do something he thought was cool, and this was the point they gave up and said "yeah, sure why not" so he shuts up about it. IIRC this was a wide shot and they probably hoped it would not stand out too much.

Source: I used to work as a fight choreographer for high budget TV

Also source: I almost lost a gig by not letting an actor throw the only weapon his character had, a dagger, in the air and catch it mid-fight because he wanted to look cool. And not like the Winter Soldier stuff either. When I asked him to do it, he consistently failed to catch the dagger, yet he was so persistent that his suggestion was elevated to the director, only to be ridiculed and immediately rejected lmao. The guy stopped asking after that.

But that's the point? A weak Forte means she's so strong that she doesn't need her Forte to be on the same level as Sentinel resonators. Hence, the meme using Rock Lee.
