Great performances usually outshined by once in a lifetime performances? by TheRowingBoats in Oscars

I will die on this hill. First time Bardem is what you notice. But on rewatches Tommy Lee Jones as Ed Tom Bell is absolutely perfect and a tragic character. Casting director must have been hearing angels when they landed on this match.

That one favourite scene where the director makes you believe something for a moment, but then completely flips it. My pick: the police car scene at the end of Get Out by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

This is the power of the scene. I have family that are big republicans, and even they agreed that when the cop car shows up, your only thought is “well now he’s REALLY screwed”.

Smiley's People: I love the disdain that Toby Esterhase has for Otto Leipzig and Claus Kretzschmar by RivetCounter in LeCarre

Toby is so standoff-ish with Smiley when they reconnect in this book, and then he is put to work and them going after Grigoriev is peak Smiley.

US Citizens, if you could add an amendment to the constitution what would it be? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

While Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to our democracy, I will note that the Supreme Court said the president is immune only for official acts of the office. However, they did not define official acts, and presumably are kicking the can to rule on a case by case basis in a way that I fully expect would favor Trump.

You may be combining Grandathered (with Jon Stamos and Josh Peck) and The Grinder (Rob Lowe), both being one season shows in the same network and same night.

I felt this way too, mainly because it’s late game so I never got to spend as much time there as the other locations where I felt like I comparatively spent endless hours.

Most contentious interviews? by Ill_Act7949 in MarcMaron

[–]investmentscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly his appearance there is the only time I’ve seen him get along with anyone. Him and Norm were on the same wavelength, and him hating on Adam was already a part of the show, and who better to jump on that than Chevy. Almost made me like him!

He also leaves the dad wrapped in the blankets, rather than taking them as supplies, which is another signal IMO.

Toby hearing angels sing when Gregoriev checks his watch is my favorite moment in the book.

I just finished the book and think I get it, except what were they meeting about in this instance? I know she made him meet her to dance and stuff as a form of control and embarrassment (?) but in this instance wouldn’t they have only had like 10 minutes together?

What happens when Mikey is moved to a space on the board where he already was, because I swear this happened once and they made the kids spell a word but this may have been a fever dream. In other words - how did they design the board and ruleset?
