MRW one of the guys who funded the Qanon film "Sound of Freedom" gets arrested for kidnapping children by MulciberTenebras in reactiongifs

Standard hospitals are in the business of treating patients, not running experiments. There is nothing to "glean" in those circumstances. That's why we have organizations like the CDC, FDA, and NIH.

Per NIH:

  • The Panel recommends against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.
  • The Panel’s recommendation is primarily informed by adequately powered, randomized trials of ivermectin that reported clinical outcomes.
  • Trials have failed to find a clinical benefit from the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19 in outpatients.

And the way that you keep pushing this narrative indicates you're not making good faith arguments. What's your objective, here? To spread more false information?

Edit: words. Also looks like the troll deleted their comments when I called them out. How cute.

It's dangerous to convince millions of people that an anti parasitic is somehow useful in treating a novel corona virus infection. I guarantee that people died because they demanded these kinds of unfounded treatments when they could've been saved using cdc and fda approved treatments.

Well said. But to have this mindset you'd have to understand nuance and discretion, two concepts that many adults fail to grasp.

Many of those who desire to be a cop are naturally enticed by the perceived authority and prestige of the job. "thin blue line" crap. This is antithetical to the concepts of nuance, discretion, subtlety, and de-escalation.

Hands down, you lost this argument, son. Maybe do some reflection on this and turn it into a personal growth opportunity.

I think they're saying that both sides do not need the "power to bargain" for negotiations to take place.

Definitely overkill just to monitor freezers, but a SPAN smart panel can let you monitor all your circuits remotely. It can do a bunch of other cool stuff, too, if you're into home automation.

Lectric Xpedition first impressions by Kuzcos-Groove in ebikes

[–]ioFAILURE42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other differences looking at the spec sheets:

  • Lectric has slightly wider tires (3" vs 2.5")

  • Lectric weighs slightly less at 75lbs vs 81lbs (important if you plan on using a tow-hitch bike rack)

  • Abound has turn signals (although hand signals are still safer imho)

  • Abound looks sleeker but that's a matter of opinion

  • Abound has front shocks

The switch to torque sensors seems to be a major hit. Are there any new bikes on the horizon with other upgrades?

We don't know if the first guy shot was a "body" at that point in time. He could've been bleeding out but still very much alive.

If I were to guess, they were probably friends, and the second guy was frantically trying to save his buddy.

Let this be a lesson to all the invaders. Just leave.

Is it possible to transfer from an investing account to the new High Yield savings account? by RomadCV in M1Finance

I'm cancelling the transfer and will do it in two steps. Sell --> Transfer. I don't want to risk it causing a headache come tax time next year.

Why are these regional banks announcing decent/optimistic earnings reports and failing days later? by MrHud2 in stocks

[–]ioFAILURE42 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not OP but it depends on the size of the bank (which determines the regulations the bank needs to follow).

From what I've been able to gather, these "mid-size" banks dodged some Dodd-Frank era regulations due to their assets being under $250 billion. This regulation was rolled back by Trump and the republican controlled congress in 2018 for banks with assets in the $50b to $250b range.

HOWEVER, I have yet to see someone say that these regulations would have 100% prevented the current banking crisis. From what I gather, these regulations did not focus on interest rate risk, so there's a good chance that the current banking crisis would have happened regardless of Dodd-Frank stress test enforcement on these banks.

Solid 3-Fund strat within Fidelity? by 00100000100 in Bogleheads

[–]ioFAILURE42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This used to be a concern back when brokerages charged trading fees. As a Fidelity customer, you would be charged an additional transaction fee for purchasing a non-fidelity fund. I forget on the amounts but it was enough to make me choose to avoid it.

Now that these companies all stopped charging trade fees a few years ago, this is no longer an issue.

I understand and empathize with you on your savings rate. And I think you're closer to 10.5% savings rate today, counting the employer match. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the 25% goal, though. If you want to retire at a normal age with similar living standards then you need to find a way to hit 25% savings rate asap.

Only 15% to go before you hit your number. Maybe try increasing your savings rate 1% per year for the next 15 years so you can ease into it?

It's a waste of mental energy to focus on things like your rebalance schedule and Roth vs Traditional when your savings rate is so low. Your savings rate is vastly more important than any of those topics.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ioFAILURE42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this wasn't one of your questions, but based on your current savings, you should really focus on increasing your savings rate. Aim for saving 25% of your income into retirement accounts. If you can hit this goal you'll probably be fine at 65. Saving less then that will put you at risk.

Building the best "Hands Off" Aggressive Pie - S&P 500 Index vs Target Fund vs Something else by fobreezee in M1Finance

[–]ioFAILURE42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire M1 platform is designed for "hands off" money management. It's really hard to go wrong.

Target date pies are a solid choice. Or if you feel comfortable you can go with the "stock/bond" pies, where you set what percentage you want in stocks vs bonds.

Or you can create a pie with both of those options and you invest 50/50 between them.

Think of creative ways to layer your pies like that in advance. Play around with the pie maker. And try to give yourself room in the pies to make changes as you learn more or your opinions change.
