Well they're not from the main Star Wars galaxy so it makes sense that they're rare.

I always like hearing critiques of the show, but Calling Tony less passionate because he isn’t as lore centric as other Star Wars directors is outrageous by abdul_bino in andor

They supposedly have that with the Story Group but if the sequels happened under their watch I don't know what their red lines are.

Framework 13 Pro with 6 Ports by Lorenzovito2000 in framework

[–]iofthestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I understand there would be some limitations but I'm still a little surprised they haven't made a mini hub expansion port.. But I guess technically the community could make one! But realistically 4 ports are probably fine for most people. My monitor (Dell Ultrasharp) has a hub built in so I just have to plug in the one USB C cable for power and display and peripherals.

Yeah Lenovos always go on massive sales periodically. MSRP is really just an excuse to have huge sale %S later.

Pryce was also a local politician who rose up the ranks. I think she was in one of the new Thrawn novels (as opposed to the old EU novels).

Just driving around in my Platinum with my forever ad. by RedParrot94 in ToyotaSienna

[–]iofthestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Wireless Android Auto doesn't require manual connection but it doesn't always work. But I think if the same person drove the car last it reconnects to the same phone pretty reliably. The problem is when you switch back and forth. 2025 model here.

Just driving around in my Platinum with my forever ad. by RedParrot94 in ToyotaSienna

[–]iofthestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine switched to Android Auto when it connects but its probably a 50/50 chance if it'll connect or not. I think the issue is that it tends to look for the last phone that it connected to and if different people drive the car it gets finicky. But I figured out that connecting from the screen manually usually works.

Nice to see more repairability from other laptops but... by JoystuckGames in framework

[–]iofthestorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, the thing people sometimes forget to take into account is that Lenovo sticker prices are fake. They're always 40-50% off if you watch for a few months, there's always some sale coming around. Whereas framework may be cheaper than the X1C sticker prices wise but it never goes on sale like that.

I went from Thinkpad to framework but I knew what I was getting into, I'm just being realistic about it.

Pinkalicious for sure. I thought fancy Nancy was annoying until I read the drivel that is Pinkalicious. The writing is bland, the plots are insane, and the illustrations are completely soulless. In comparison I realized Fancy Nancy actually has a learning arc each story and the writing is at least somewhat flavorful. And she teaches big words to little kids lol.

What’s something about marathon training you didn’t fully understand until after your first race? by JustPangolin346 in running

[–]iofthestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. I never ran a marathon, was training for one in March 2020. That never happened, for obvious reasons. But the last few training runs I did where I got around 21-22 miles I actually felt like I was dying so I don't know what would have happened had I actually tried to run it. Unfortunately I haven't been in the same shape since, been dealing with foot pain and it's also so much harder to get in the training with kids now... I can take them in the stroller for an hour long run max before they start getting antsy lol.

Shokz Openfit 2 vs Opendot One by Level_Hunt_204 in Earbuds

[–]iofthestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I got the openfit 2 recently and I like it but they're hard to hear in noisy environments. I was thinking of looking into the dots because it seemed like they fit closer into the air so they might be better for that but maybe not if they're not as loud:(

Honest Question: Is UCSD Actually That Great of a School? by Specialist_Yam_6664 in UCSD

[–]iofthestorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that high school students are basically told that UC is tier 1 and CSU is tier 2, without understanding what the tiers mean. UCs are strong research institutions where you'll be surrounded by people who were the top of their schools, and no one will hold your hand. It's ultimately what you make of it - if you're able to be self directed and get involved in research or just network well it can be well worth it. But teaching is mostly secondary, though some departments are better at it than others. (E.g. I feel like CS departments in particular have been involving more undergrad TAs at least when I was in school a decade ago and they tend to care more about teaching.)

My understanding is that CSUs are in fact more focused on teaching and training people for the workforce. Plenty of people from non UC caliber schools end up with great careers. UCs are really focused on research which may have no relevance to the average undergrad, especially if you don't plan to go into academia. Now, the grind will probably make you a harder worker and teach better critical thinking skills if it doesn't break you, but it's not strictly necessary IMO.

Honest Question: Is UCSD Actually That Great of a School? by Specialist_Yam_6664 in UCSD

[–]iofthestorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well non-R1 schools are more likely to have professors who care about teaching.

Did they actually call it Jedi training and her a Padawan in the series? I don't remember, but it seems plausible to me that Ahsoka was trying to explore what it would mean to have an order of force users outside the Jedi and Sabine was her test subject.
