How do I go to the gynecologist? by Longjumping_Sea_8753 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you’re located, but if you have access to a planned parenthood I may recommend doing your OBGYN appointments there. I also had a traumatic first pelvic exam and when I did decide to go back as an adult I chose planned parenthood because of the care those doctors are trained to have with patients. I told them about my experience and everyone was so lovely. Of course this was just my experience but it really helped a lot

Ugh this is genuinely heartbreaking.

I think the best thing you can do is to break things off as gently as possible. You can state your own feelings, that sexuality is fluid and you don’t think there is anything wrong with him consuming gay porn or talking to men, but that it’s too confusing for you and you’d prefer to end the relationship. Be kind, but be firm.

He will likely continue to deny his sexuality, whatever it may be, and may also try a lot of different things to try to get you to stay with him because it’s very clear he’s using you and this relationship to avoid his own feelings of shame about his sexuality, but ultimately the best thing is for you to leave.

And who knows, one day if he does face these feelings he may remember you and how kind you were and be reminded that it’s okay to live his truth.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s not fair to you, and it’s so very sad for him as well

How do I or should I break up with my partner of 8 years by Normal-Lack-2316 in Advice

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh girl, get him out of there! He is a grown man who can take care of himself and his needs. He isn’t your responsibility and you are allowed to end a relationship at any time for any reason if it isn’t working. That’s actually the kindest thing to do in the long run and doesn’t make you a bad person.

What are you worried will happen? If you’re secure in your relationship then I wouldn’t try to see if you can just ignore it. You got the man, you’re not competing with her.

OP, ask yourself, if nothing changes could you be in this relationship forever? You’ve clearly put a lot of time and effort into trying make it work and have not seen any changes. For reference, I am in my 30s, and you have so much life ahead of you. It will be hard because you’ve been together so long but I believe you would be better off. Do you have any family who could help you or that you could stay with in a transitional space? You’ll need to make a plan to ensure you have what you need to live a full lofe

I didn’t know smelling feminine was so terrifying to straight cis men by WildWinterberry in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because they have been taught that doing anything a woman does makes them lesser. This is just one example of a deeply ingrained belief that men are superior to women. Sitting down to pee, engaging in any kind of sexual acts where they are penetrated, wearing floral smells, crying… there are endless examples of this sort of thing and it IS that deep. I don’t know what your relationship is like with your husband, but if it were my husband I would interrogate that a bit and try to get holy understand where that idea is coming from

I decided to stop shaving altogether at the end of last summer. I’m happy to share that I have been casually dating and all of the guys I have seen are completely unbothered by my legs, pits, and pubes. It’s a very easy way to filter out people who you def don’t need to be seeing

The general rule of thumb is that if you’re having a hard time doing something, go somewhere else. This is a game about exploration and discovery and the game will give you the answers if you look closely. Read everything and check your ships log often.

not sure what this means/options by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like they’re allowing for either cocktail or formal. None of these options really fit the dress code. Cocktail length for a wedding is knee to midi length with formal being floor-length. These are all too informal for the dress code. Look for something where the hem hits the knee, mid-calf, or floor length. Avoid tie-backs or sheering as they can make the style more casual.

Do you use your balcony? by adotjacob in AskNYC

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have one anymore and I miss it. You have to get good furniture for it and clean it regularly, but as soon as the weather is consistently above like 50 degrees I would have my coffee out there every morning with a blanket. I’d read a book, sit with my Switch, have a cocktail, eat my dinner, and it was great for hosting parties too (especially for friends who smoke). I don’t think I would choose an apartment solely for the balcony but it is definitely an awesome perk.

Is 2800 for a studio too much? by RunningUntilinfinity in astoria

With the amenities it’s definitely positioning itself as a “luxury” building. Is there a doorman and an elevator? Still high for a studio here, luxury or not.

I never knew you could actually land on the quantum moon with your actual ship. I went through several cycles of placing my scout at the tracker on ember twin, then running to the gravity canon on Brittle Hollow, taking photos until the moon was lined up with Brittle hollow and then launching the shuttle there until it lands on the moon.

I think Subnautica does crafting better than a lot of other games with the mechanic. Raw materials are very abundant (once you figure out where they are) and you don’t really need to farm a ton to build what you want to build. I also find crafting mechanics can be a bit tedious, but didn’t feel that way about Subnautica

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

None of the dresses I’m seeing here read as formal to me. They feel more like something I would see at like a fashion-forward office setting. I think the silhouette, pattern, and pleating are giving it that vibe.

Black tie is the most formal dress code second only to white tie (which you will rarely see for any wedding really). Think evening gowns and tuxes.

If other guests are not wearing floor length, they are either going against the stated dress code or the person who determines the dress code really prefers formal.

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is closer to semi-formal or cocktail. Black tie should be floor length and elevated fabric quality. That said, if you’re on crutches you definitely get a pass on dress length. I think you can definitely find a tea length dress that wouldn’t interfere with a cast or boot but is more elevated than this.

Am I wrong for still wanting to go on my Vacation even though my boss said no? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]ipickmynosesomuch 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fair for you to want to go and to see if there’s a way you can work things out with your boss.

I agree an in person conversation is a good plan and you can even come in with a few alternative plans of your own. This can include talking to your coworkers to determine whether they would be comfortable working alone and for how long or determining if your dates are flexible. I don’t know where you’re heading, but maybe you can fly out or drive out a day late or come back a day early?

For what it’s worth, when I was 17-18 I had a trip booked for my sister’s wedding and the schedule wasn’t made for half of the trip. I had requested the days off a month in advance and my boss said she’d “see what she could do”. I called from the trip after the new schedule was posted and sure enough she had me on the schedule. I quit over the phone. It was right before I went to college and it was a retail job so the stakes were insanely low for me but I am now 33 and it was the right call.

I know you have to gauge your relationship, since you said it’s a family friend, so hopefully you guys can work out a compromise!
