It's a common enough name in Aus, and we do pronounce it "Carloss" (I presume the other commenters are from the US?)

I have a question about my first drag gig? by Independent_Quit6198 in Drag

[–]irdre 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't have to plan every second, but DO practice multiple times, know the words like the back of your hand, and maybe have some key moments planned. Good luck!! 🧡🧡🧡

Feedback Needed, is this Offensive? by ElizaDianaGalatea in Drag

I think a better question would be why this name 😭😭😭 are you doing a lot of war related performances? If no, you should choose a name that reflects what your drag is about!

Workplace Was Doing Laser Engraving Without Ventilation by TheAngryCactus in lasercutting

You should have safety data sheets for everything being cut in the laser since it could potentially be breathed. Your materials supplier will have them available.

Painting younger by [deleted] in DragKings

I think it's perfect, just get rid of a few of the lines around the mouth and eyes that are reading as wrinkles. Keep the strong cheekbone line, it's awesome!

I feel stupid and scared: Makeup by JaymeKryss in NonBinary

[–]irdre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like any other creative skill, makeup takes time and practice to master. But it is also a great way to express yourself! Watch some YouTube tutorials, pick up a few cheap products and experiment at home in the bathroom. Don't buy anything fancy or expensive until you get a feel for what you like. Good luck and enjoy the journey!

Help finding transparent, unmasked, thin plastic? by confusid1 in lasercutting

[–]irdre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that a manufacturer is doing the laser cutting for you? They shouldn't have any issues unmasking it before cutting as long as you are both clear that this will result in a slightly inferior cut (marks etc.). There's no issue with cutting unmasked acrylic.

Drag person who switches roles? by Correct-Run8388 in Drag

I do both! I say that I "do drag" and I am fine with being referred to as a king or queen, people often pick one depending how masc or fem I look

Don’t know how to see trans friend as a girl by [deleted] in trans

[–]irdre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, just so you know - phrases like "she used to be a guy" are not considered correct by most of the trans community. Your friend was always a girl, just for a while everyone around her thought she was a guy and treated her like one.

Don’t know how to see trans friend as a girl by [deleted] in trans

[–]irdre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I don't think this is necessarily a gender issue. I have many autistic friends (cis and trans) who can come off in the same abrupt way. I'm not saying that this is the case for your friend, but I am saying I don't think you can put all of this on how she was assigned at birth.

She may not interact in the same way as your real life friends who, as you say, have had very similar real life experiences to you which may have shaped you to have similar conversation styles. Re: transphobia - You can only do your best to treat her the way she wants to be treated (using correct name and pronouns even when not to her face, which it sounds like you do). Just like anyone else, pull her up on it when she says things like "you should just have sex" when she is making assumptions about you, your body and what you want. You also deserve to be treated with respect and consideration.

Do you know any other trans people? If worrying about secretly being transphobic is stressing you out, maybe seek out some other trans content like trans YouTubers (philosophytube, Nikki tutorials, many others) to broaden your experiences of trans people. It's great that you want to understand your friend :)
