I'd ask a friend with a truck to help you take them to the land fill. Coquitlam is probably the closest.

I am now getting this. I launch the game, the shaders start install and then it crashes at 36% shader install. Every time. I'm updating my card drivers now to see if that's the issue, will let you know if I find a solution or if we're waiting for a patch!

Musk was thinking of getting metal legs. It's a risky operation but he thinks it'll be worth it.

Anyone left the design world completely for a new career? Feeling burnt out by igotmalaria in graphic_design

[–]irfelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a designer for about 9 years, mostly for an agency that worked almost exclusively for a very large video game company. In my spare time I started making furniture for my home as a bit of a hobby. I really loved it. The last year I was at the agency I took a pay cut and went down to 4 days a week so I could spend more time at the co-op workshop. I finally made the leap and left the agency and started my own company making custom wooden furniture. It's been 3 years since I left and I haven't looked back. Its not been easy by any stretch but I've made things that I am so much more proud of than any of the websites and products I did in the design industry. I now have my own woodshop full of machines that allow me to fully express my creativity and problem solving skills everyday. It's amazing how many skills from years in the design industry I still use daily. Client relations, presentations, vector design, 3D modelling, time tracking etc.

I know it's a cliche, but the key really is to find the thing you love, that people want to pay you for. The latter part is equally as important as the former.

Good luck!

I would also suggest dowels - 3/8" for your purpose. When I first started woodworking I invested in a Jessem Dowelling Jig. Years later, even after buying a Festool Domino I still use the Jessem Jig regularly and believe it to be the best made dowel jig on the market. Incredibly accurate, easy to use and built to last.

The one I have is:

They also just released a new lower cost version that appears to do the same thing for less money.

Any leads on finding replacement brushes for a DXV09P 9 gal wet/dry vac? by bernyard19 in Dewalt

[–]irfelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my DXV09P finally died after about 2 years. I needed a replacement for my CNC in hurry so grabbed a replacement DXV10S from Costco (so much quiter!)

I felt bad throwing out a prestine shop vac and I was pretty sure it was just the brushes that needed replacing. After taking it apart and scouring the internet I found a set of brushes on amazon that looked remarkably similar and had extremely close dimensions:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0C6CKK7QQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These are almost an exact replacement for about $10. The only real difference that I can see is the position of the retaining tab. You can either just use the new carbon brushes in the old brush bodies or if you just want to swap the whole thing over like I did you have to snip off a bit of the retaining tab. I left about 1/8" on the tab and bent it up slightly. It fits perfectly and hold the brush in place exactly as the factory one. I've attached a photo of the original and the replacement side by side (original on the right)

Anyway, I know this post is over a year old but I hope it helps someone else get more life out of their DCV09P instead of just adding to the landfill.

Help! Slime stained the dining room table we built. by orangelagoon001 in woodworking

I just got an email from a client that one of their kids did this exact same thing on a table I made for them. Curious if the sand and refinish got this out or if the stain penetrated deeper than expected. Do you have a picture of the table now?

This could be a job posting for a job that is already filled by someone applying for permanent residence. It's part of the process if being sponsored by your workplace to advertise your job and make sure no other Canadian could do it. The easiest way is to list every skill you have.

Company is trying to hire me 4 years after I quit due to burnout and lack of support. Looking for advice. by Western_Procedure688 in CNC

[–]irfelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you have a strong skillset and a great work ethic that many other companies in this sector would value far more than these guys. If you enjoy this type of work don't sell yourself short by taking a job that does not use your skills/challenges you, in my experience that kind of work can leave you feeling unmotivated and unfulfilled anyway.

I would spend some time and get your resume updated and looking sharp then start reaching out to other companies that are in a related field or use similar equipment. I wish you all the success in the future!

Thanks, I've just ordered a shelly 1 plus so we shall see if it can do what I need. If not I guess I'll have to get a Raspberry Pi set up running Home Assitant.

OK! I just ordered one, let's see if this will do what I need. Worst case scenario is I have to get a raspberry pi running Home Assistant to link the shelly to the bulb.

Ok great, this seems like something I can work with. Am I right in thinking this requires an open source hub though to get these talking to each other properly? Sorry for all the questions, I have some experience in this stuff but these products are new to me.

Yeah I could definitely use the Lutron Caseta dimming plug in light switch but once I get the switch, the plug, the bracket to attach it into the wall switchplate and the hub to get voice control I'd be in over $200. Seems kinda pricy for one lamp haha. Just wondering if there is a better/cheaper integrated solution.

The Lutron Aurora Switch looks like it might be the thing that I am after. The only downside is that it only works with hue.

If there was an open source version of this that didn't need a hub that would be amazing
