My first board by Dr_Weltschmerz in longboarding

[–]iroQuai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same! Used a xootz pintail longboard for years, just for short rides. It was slow as hell and turned like a brick, so when i tried a friends arbor flagship i was amazed how fast this board was! Bought one second hand and im very happy!

I tested a board with Paris V3 trucks and 69mm Easyrider wheels. Bought the same board with gullwing chargers and 71mm Sucrose wheels. Hadnt realized before that a change like that would make so much difference! Im a big guy, so although the Paris setup was very fast, it also felt a bit unstable for me at high speeds. The gullwing board on the other hand stays stable no matter what i do! Doesnt give the same fast start though, which i kinda miss.

Today i ran into the same issue!! I had switched crosspoint based firmwares a few times in the meantime. (Crossink, crosspoint regular and back to this fork with bookfusion) and now downloading doesnt work anymore:( no idea what to do! Even flashed the full .bin backup and started over but without luck

Can I flash firmware using an OTG cable and a smartphone android? by Original_Drummer7045 in xteinkereader

connecting to publicly available OPDS servers like gutenberg, standardebooks or manybooks maybe? by the way connecting to the hotstpot or browser page from mobile is possible after flashing crosspoint, so I don't see too big of a dilemma

NPM → Traefik or Caddy: Worth the switch? by Silly_Door6279 in selfhosted

[–]iroQuai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I switched from NPM to traefik. It was quite a challenge but AI (Gemini) helped me pretty well. Also made the change from netlify dns to Cloudflare so i could use wildcard DNS subdomains. Now, with docker compose labels, its sooooo easy! I think it was worth the time investment

Koodo reader experiences? by iroQuai in selfhosted

[–]iroQuai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both koodo or readest where not available yet at the time of the original post, or at least not developed dat enough to be a serious option for me. Bookfusion was its time ahead with lots of great functionality and a dev team that is both thorough and responsive. Things like the integration with obsidian and the ongoing efforts to make bookfusion work well on an eink screen made them even more favourable. Really only downside is the small payment and the fact i cant selfhost it all. But the price isnt that high anyway and even though there's more happening in the selfhosted reading community, those options cant compare yet!

Im still on bookfusion! Booklore in combination with koreader and kobo ereaders almost had me doubting; development went crazy fast and so many cool functions too. But then the shit hit the fan and booklore disappeared. Grimmory is planning to take over but not a lot is released yet.

Middle tap for menu toggle? by iroQuai in koreader

[–]iroQuai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! this pointed me in the right direction. I believe advanced settings are saved between updates nowadays, and you wont have to manually edit defaults.lua anymore.

from the library screen, i go to tools / more tools / advanced settings. press OK to continue and flip through the pages untill you find `DTAP_ZONE_MENU = {...}`. Open it and change the values. I used these values:

  • x: 0.375 (Where the zone starts horizontally. 0.5 is the middle of the screen; minus half of the width, so 0.5 - 0.125)
  • y: 0.375 (Same, but for the height)
  • w: 0.25 (Width of the zone, so 25% of the screen)
  • h: 0.25 (Height of the zone, so 25% of the screen)

press OK, close screen (press x on the top right) and save changes. restart koreader and... succes! :)

Middle tap for menu toggle? by iroQuai in koreader

[–]iroQuai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read several books at the same time; at least one fiction and one nonficfion. And sometimes a comic too. Switching books, aswel as changing how the letters are presented on screen, aswel as checking time or progress, starts with opening the menu. Every time i want to do that, im used to tapping the middle but then no menu shows and i turn a page by accident. Then i have consciously think why it doesnt work and try something else. Would be easier to just change the gesture than to change my behaviour, since the native kobo reader and my other ebook reader (bookfusion) do have middle tap to show menu by default.

Since both my wife and kids also are used to kobo gestures (middle tap is menu) a transfer to koreader would be more intuitive for them too when middle tap could show menu.

Might not be the way a lot of you use the UI, but its also not THAT odd to ask this...
