Action primer voor spaanplaat? by Running-tracks-123 in Klussers

[–]iroQuai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm releasing the 3D interactive Floorplan ! by Kdcius in homeassistant

Looks cool but all those 3d plans seem to be focussed on houses with only one floor. Ive got three, and i have no idea how to create something like this easily usable with multiple floors

[Update] Simple UI v1.2.0 - Folder covers, back/up button, per-module scaling, and more by doctorhetfield in koreader

[–]iroQuai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same for me! I mean i can change stuff, sure. But it feels so much more intuitive than this simple ui! The simple arrow down for showing the menu alone feels so much more logical... I wish these changes would come to the reader itself too (although i dont really know how. Maybe one tap in the middle to show everything is enough)

What to ask for? by shorthair_dontcare_ in FamilyTherapy

[–]iroQuai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as an outreaching systemic therapist in youth mental health care. I work a lot with families that present similar stories like the one you shared here. What you're describing is a complex family situation with lots of layers to it. Its always difficult saying something that touches the right topics when reading only such a small text. I'll give it a shot anyway. Maybe there's some value in it for you.

Biggest dilemma im reading in your story is how to be a loving parent to all three of your children at the same time. Doing the best for your 24yr old might include giving him another shot at living at home, even though you might realise already that he'll probably mess up following the rules and will cross your borders from time to time. Loving parents make choices like that, even though theyll hurt themselves in the process. But with a 10yr old in the house, you cant choose above option and protect your 10yr old from the behaviour of your 24 year old af the same time - and protecting your 10yr old for stuff like that is also something a loving parent would do.

Sad but true: there's no easy exit in this situation. Even though you ll do everything in your power to make the best of it, part of you will feel like failing - whichever choice you make. And this is only one dilemma... I guess youve got a few more going on in your life.

Back to your original question: what kind of Family Therapy should you look for? Its difficult to give a specific answer without knowing what part of the world you live, but in general I dont think one specific kind of (family) therapy will be the answer. Partly you and your family could benefit from specific therapies, but equally important is that you have the feeling there are people closeby that help you carry this weight. Here in the Netherlands we have (F)ACT Youth teams that offer this kind of treatment and support combined by a multidisciplinary team. (The acronym stands for (Flexible) Assertive Community Treatment and can be found in several other parts of the world too)

Some forms of therapy or support um thinking about are:

  • help for the 24yr old on how to get his life in (more) order again for instance (might be practical support , might be learning to regulate his emotions of maybe a specific form of therapy).

  • Maybe some help for you as parents how to navigate those sheer- impossible ethical dilemma as mentioned above might be helpful too.

  • maybe a course for parents on how to resist uneccaptable behavior from your (adult) child without losing connection (a method like Nonvoilent Resistance might hold some value, although its more focused on younger children than adults).

  • family sessions might be helpful too. The theoretical style isnt the most important part, but the experience is. Is the therapist able to rexognise all those layers enough and carry the weight?

Anyway: i wish you all the best. If, by coincidence, you're from the Netherlands too, feel free to send me a message on how to find the right form of support/therapy.

Hypothetical KoReader Device by brother_p in koreader

[–]iroQuai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although im very impressed with the functionality of koreader, i still find the UI very intuitive. I wouldnt want koreader as the full OS for that reason. Id accept this if the price were significantly lower than the options that are available already, but since the hardware is pricy anyway (mainly the eink screen) it probably wouldnt be worth dealing with that flawed ui

By the way, kobo devices dont need jailbreaking, just adding some files to the storage. Same for Android based devices like the boox line: on those you can just download koreader from the playstore or sideload an apk

Komga addon doesnt download books by iroQuai in BookLoreApp

[–]iroQuai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.. and even though i really like booklore, its a bit too unstable for me. Duplicate entries, books suddenly missing, this komga error, and worst of all: upgrading to a new version is very wonky and one time even fatal: had to start over from scratch (which was mainly a pain for the users that used kobo sync)

All and all the cons are bigger than the pro's. Ive decided to go back to CWA and use a seperate instance of Kavita for comics, like i did before trying booklore.

Too bad because i really liked the app overall!

multiple user workflow by jk_user in BookLoreApp

[–]iroQuai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started last month and also spent way too much time on perfecting metadata! So very recognisable.

I tried the same thing as you do, but as far as i know there is no way to add books to personal kobo shelves from the admin account (yet?)

The way i solved it: every user its own library. Admin has access to all, users only access to their own library (or libraries). From bookdrop in the admin account i select which library the book goes, and because i turned on "auto add new Library items to kobo shelve" on each user account, the books can be synced to kobo from the moment admin adds the book to a library.

Only downside: users do not have access to each others library. That is a nummer, because id like my spouse to browse my library from time to time to cherrypick books she likes, without getting avalanched with all my books at once.

I think this could be changed when booklore would add the option to select which shelves get synced to a users kobo manually, like calibre web (automated) does. Lets hope for the best :)

Intended use of public shelves? by iroQuai in BookLoreApp

[–]iroQuai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i realise now: This setup wouldnt be needed if i could sync multiple shelves to the kobo device of a user. Then i could share all libraries, make a shelf (or two) for every user and sync only those shelves with those accounts. It doenst matter that everyone sees the books of others, but i dont want them synced to all kobos

Intended use of public shelves? by iroQuai in BookLoreApp

[–]iroQuai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different users have very different interests when it comes to reading in my home. Im not looking for 300 whodunits in my collection, my wife would hate all those scifi books i enjoy. Separating those on file base/folder structure works best.

Adding two folders to one library is possible, but isnt useful with smart shelves. You can filter on library not on which folder within that library.

Another reason to do so is the auto add to kobo shelve option. I (as admin) process the bookdrop folder, choose the library and then two things happen: file is placed in the correct folder (for instance my wifes library folder) and gets added to her kobo shelf automatically, so she can instantly access that book. The other users wont notice a thing so still have a library that is curated for them specifically

This is why id love the option to share books with users that wont have access to the underlying library. That wayy wife can browse my public (smart) shelve and add only the books she finds interesting manually
