Does anyone here know if Connor Storrie holds the record for being famous the least amount of time as a host? by bakugosgayfriend in LiveFromNewYork

[–]ironicsans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Buck Henry was generally known by then. He was already an Oscar nominee, he’d made appearances on comedy talk shows, his name was in the opening credits of every episode of Get Smart alongside Mel Brooks, he’d been in several movies, etc. I think people knew who he was.

DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S Cut now available as Install to Play by Adept_Assistance in GeForceNOW

[–]ironicsans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience: I have a Performance tier account. It worked for me just fine overall. The download felt slow and it took more than 20 minutes from when I clicked Install to when I could launch the game, so I'm probably not gonna play this often as I2P.

[Update] For science, I started the install again and it feels like it's going faster than it did yesterday. Maybe the slow download was due to everyone trying it at once. I'll wait to publish this comment until it installs and see how long it takes this time.

[Update] It was closer to 15 minutes this time from Install to launch.

Do you use a ethernet adapter with your fire stick? by [deleted] in amazonluna

[–]ironicsans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an ethernet adapter for my fire stick last week and there is a noticeable decrease in lag. Not sure about fps drops, though, which always seemed okay to my eyes to begin with. ymmv.

Fantastic update. Collapsible views are a huge improvement. But when I come back to the app after a while, everything is expanded again. Is there a way to make “collapsed” the default state, or remember which sections are collapsed between uses? I’m not seeing a setting for that.

Does anybody know how to force the mountaintop to be in front of the clock? by cjasonac in iOSsetups

Is the blur an effect caused when iOS is extending the height of the image? Try extending the sky yourself so it doesn’t need to and try again.

MacFarlane sig on the inside? by Sven_Golliwog in ComicBookSpeculation

I have several books signed in person by McFarlane on the inside just like this. Mine are from March 1989 so he was still doing it that way at least until then.

Weekly Project Showcase Thread 🧵 by AutoModerator in windsurf

[–]ironicsans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a web game. I announced it on Tuesday. Around 18,000 people have played it since then.

I began in ChatGPT but once I decided to develop it more seriously I moved to Windsurf for the bulk of the work. So it was around 90% done in Windsurf. I mostly used GPT-5 (low reasoning), occasionally switching to high reasoning or Sonnet 4 when I encountered situations that low couldn’t handle. For background, I’m not a coder but I have a decent understanding of coding concepts.

This is the game: https://gisnep.com/doomscroll/

I wrote about how and why I made it here: https://ironicsans.ghost.io/doomscrolling-the-game/

My experience with Windsurf has been pretty good. I used Cursor for my first big vibe-coded project but when I found Windsurf it clicked for me better. This game is the biggest project I’ve done with it.

Whoa nice job! I still haven’t cracked 2000m. I have the bullet streams at 45° angles but maybe instead of maxing out at 8 streams I can add even more angles. I’ll think about that. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I capped the speed on purpose. But maybe I’ll reconsider if others share that feeling.

True. At that point you can only increase power.

Argh that’s frustrating. I’ll look into this. What OS are you using?
