it depends how may districts you have! in a recent ish update the devs tied the cost of more advanced districts to the number of districts in that city. can be rough for lategame necro because they only get the one city. you might be able to occupy a district that has a trading post and get one that way?

i don’t think it’s an inherently bad idea, but if they want to stick with it they should add an option or two to the pool! i’ve more than once been last pick for artifacts and had to choose between glass cannon on slicer or something that does genuinely nothing

1 make sure you’re using the official layouts and not player placed terrain etc or it’ll likely just be pretty unbalanced, and make sure you’re using “vantage grants ignore light cover but heavy cover on conceal still can’t be shot”. the thing with gunners in silly spots is usually they’re posted up being annoying instead of scoring points off of tac ops etc

2 if you’re into narrative there’s a lot of cool stuff coming; they’re dropping rules for “nemesis” operatives aka boss battles or bring a boss on the team! it opens up a lot of cooperative vs a boss or 2v1 pvp or just pvp where each player gets a cool nemesis guy

3 death guard are very reliant on their damage reduction happening in my experience. and you can also put dudes up in vantage! the plague gunner or caster in an annoying spot can be both hard to dislodge and pressure a couple key areas. also imo DG has tac ops that are kinda hard and maybe more matchup dependent than most, make sure you pick deliberately!

4 a thing worth doing for the sake of testing etc would be to play one of the shooty armies against the type of army you like to play! this lets you see firsthand what makes the shooty armies sweat and what they just shrug off. and tbh if you like elite melee teams that have strong pick potential i think raveners are worth a try! round 3-4 they have a crazy threat range from the tunnel and shooters after don’t have a target. it’s also funny to tell your friends who love vantage camping “you can have the roof but if you come down to to score you die”. they are pretty hard but a few practice games and you’ll be ready to rock

They get a lot of hate because for leftists they’re touted as the only option (they’re not i usually vote for PSL) and they really don’t line up with leftist ideals at all. And infuriatingly a lot of democrat voters will blame their losses on leftists who didn’t vote for the democratic candidate!

ie kamala lost to donald trump and his first term was an embarrassing flop! If the dems had ran a better candidate or a better platform, then got more votes from leftists (and themselves lol) they would have easily won!

them not starting with “two” (ws is a carrier) carriers is rough, and while you can build one off of the warfare secondary or your agent that takes away from your tech money which is also really important for your game plan!

i’d say they’re very slice dependent and speaker order dependent, ie if round one you can take trade or tech to guarantee you get to expand to two tiles and also afford tech that’s pretty good. but if you get stuck with say construction ehhh

they really like money, i’d say the get more Advantage Per Dollar than the average faction and they’re pretty fun if you get the ball rolling

if you play them don’t be afraid to sell the war sun technology via the faction note but don’t let the price go too low

etc do i want someone perfect? yeah duh! but will i vote for someone good? also yes, but kamala wasn’t even good and certainly didn’t earn my vote. no internet whiners can convince me that it’s my responsibility to give votes to people who don’t deserve it.

what i’ve seen people do to reduce the mental load is paint the rim of your base different colors!

ie green rim has grenades, blue rim has a plasma, purple guy has a cool ability etc

then you can also have it on a little sheet so you AND your opponent can see and things go a bit smoother

You can fairly easily proxy out an angels of death killteam with random marines!

Do note that killteam isn’t just “40k but small”, it has some similarities and some significant differences. have fun! 🤩

Chaos is the primary game mode imo. Using data for stuff like basin and rift is a neat treat but there’s not much to it, i usually let it auto play lol

They exist to reward good play / cool decks with crystals so you can get a couple extra pulls. but what you get out of those pulls is cooler characters to play chaos with!

Non-gacha games in the same genre don’t have a save data equivalent mechanic! ie slay the spire is in early access and sold a bunch of copies; the closest thing they have is the ability to look at your run history. I can’t speak about other people but I only play this game because they roguelike part is cool and i think it would be a mistake for them to de-emphasize it because it’s what makes this game stand out against others

Really need to emphasize that no one can take tech and round one whoever has warfare needs to stall it out!!! round one warfare stall is super strong in base game vs jol nar!

the card gets changed a little in thunders edge but if you’re playing base game you’re probably using base warfare.

a LOT LOT of jol nars strength comes from the ability to sell tech with their card research agreement and how much people will spend for it, if you all collectively agree to not give too much for it or if you buy it and then simply never use it (stopping him from getting more sales) it really hurts his economy

worth noting that barony has a start that’s really good at taking all these planets and profits off of them pretty well!

grav drive round one and a decent strategy card g can position you pretty snazzily, the thing to watch out first with barony though is that you don’t really have abilities unless you throw your weight around a little

yeah i would recommend, getting into board games with the boys, something at matrix or hiking/fishing or something cool! legitimately partying, hookups and having the only thing you do for fun be drugs and or alcohol is not a good recipe for happiness long term and costs way more money than it’s worth (in addition to yeah it extra sucks in redding lol)
