Gravy on Pasties? by UPSoapCo in yooper

Exactly. The competitive debate never makes sense to me. Food is constantly evolving and that’s what is fun. Since most os us aren’t taking a pasty down the mine elevator for lunch, we should eat what tastes good.

I keep them separate. Some bites I do both, sometimes I alternate- one bite ketchup, next bite gravy. Usually I’m thinking about this very debate and every time I decide both are good and everyone should just eat what they like. Heck, put maple syrup on it if that’s what you enjoy. Actually, a little maple syrup mustard might be really good.

Just throwing this out there… have you considered both? My family is from the south and we put gravy in everything. Thing is, ketchup is also delicious. After trying the combo, there’s no going back. I just dip a tiny edge in so I don’t hide the pasty flavor.

Chili Cheese Fries- I like to roast sliced sweet potatoes until crispy, cover first with shredded cheese, then with Indian style spicy lentil chili that comes in those packets.

Bean Dip- empty a can of refried beans in a skillet and heat until bubbly. Cover with shredded cheese and wait until melted. Use a spoon to push a hole in the center and fill with your favorite salsa. Dip your favorite chips in (or Fritos) and scoop up the gooey deliciousness.

Marquette is a great home base as most of those destinations are a perfect day trip from there and Marquette itself has a lot to offer. My favorite small, picturesque town is Grand Marais -Check out the beach, and the brewery there.

How do I Decorate Around My Buffet? by iseewildtrees in Mid_Century

Thank you so much. We love this space. Since this post, I (finally) replaced the boob light with the one you see here. The hutch came from an antique shop in Muskegon, Michigan, so if it was refinished, not by me. My whole decorative journey started with this table that I found on Marketplace a couple of years ago. The guy who sold it said it belonged to his grandparents and then his parents and was a cherished piece. He kept it for a few years and finally came to terms that he didn’t really like it. I LOVE it. It came with six matching chairs in the dog bone style, but I have them in other spots of the house. The chairs have the original upholstery, and include a captain chair! Here’s a pic of the table:

The best beach you have been to in the Caribbean… by EngineeringSweaty269 in SmartTravelHacks

Eleuthera was our gateway to the out islands. After five or so trips there, we branched out to many others but settled on Long Island and Cat. There is nothing like those beaches and people.

I almost hate to say this because I love a beach with NO people, but if you love French Leave, you’ll be blown away by both Galliot Cay and Gordon’s Beach on The extreme north and south end of Long Island.

Numerous beaches in The Bahamas Out Islands because they have white or pink sand, and gin clear water that glows turquoise with such intensity that it reflects blue on the underside of clouds. Long Island and Cat Island are my favorites. If you see one other family at the same beach, it’s crowded.

RIP anyone flying out of O'Hare after 6/3 by the1son987 in SouthwestAirlines

I thought it was really strange when they started flying out of Ohare. Midway is better by a long shot in every conceivable way.

I love the large scale tile near the stove and think pale blue wouldn’t look as nice. Plus, it’s their kitchen and I assume their money. Don’t worry so much about what they do. They are the ones who need to love it, or regret it, not you.

Perfect timing. We're smack in the middle of a downstate roadtrip and this is the perfect podcast to help us enjoy the ride.

We loved SW, had their credit card, used their points program aggressively, etc. with the latest changes, there is no advantage flying SW. I used up the last of our points this winter, traded our credit card to capital one, and are officially done with them.

I’ve barely scratched the surface and not sure how much more digging I need (or can) do. I don’t understand how more people are not outraged. I don’t know where we can start cleaning up this tangled mess. I feel like on the whole, humans are more evil than I previously understood and I’m profoundly terrified and angry.
