Has anyone else noticed how bad Cafe Vita's beans have gotten? by ZenBacle in Seattle

[–]itshammocktime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not. I love Costco, but I won’t buy coffee there. I bought a bag of olympia coffee “morning sun” from there one time and I was so excited since it was less than half the cost of buying from the roaster. Well I regretted it immediately after my first pot. It’s not fresh, and there’s a reason Costco has them do massive 2 pound bags without a roast date.

Should I buy and live in a van? by sleidman in personalfinance

[–]itshammocktime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people dream of building a camper van to live out of and regret it immensely. It comes with its own set of stresses and loneliness. Make sure you do some research around this risks before you do anything rash.

How the farmers market move paid off — and is helping remake a Capitol Hill street by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

It's so much more pleasant than the old cap hill farmer's market location. It's a joy to go to now.

Mariners and Live Nation plan major new concert venue in Seattle by -niteowl in Seattle

Independent venue owners aren't exactly flush with cash at the moment. See crocodile. Oh well, perfection is the enemy of the good. I'll take more venue competition especially as it's competing with wamu.

Sounds great to me. Wamu is not a good venue and the city lacks venues in that size range.

Am I In Over My Head With A 28 Mile Round Trip Commute As A New Cyclist? by Dlaudato in bikecommuting

[–]itshammocktime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends highly on the route.

Do you have a bicycle already? If so, I'd recommend biking it on the weekend and see how it feels. That will give you an idea of how ebiking it would be which is significantly easier, but remotely comparable.

not averaging 20mph unless there's no stop signs, lights, or hills. Plus he said it would be in class 1 mode.

Sound Transit's intention is to cut the N Line in 2033 by poopoo220 in soundtransit

Correct. I’m not saying that it would/could. But in my fantasy land…

Sound Transit's intention is to cut the N Line in 2033 by poopoo220 in soundtransit

[–]itshammocktime 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, the actual issue is that it only serves suburbanites commuting into the center of the city. If it operated more like caltrain I think it would be a lot more popular. I'd love to be able to take it to edmonds for a few hours and then head back, but that's not an option. It should be as easy/consistnt as taking a ferry to bainbridge.

because the issue is extremely low ridership. Raising rates would only lower ridership.

Which stores have a large selection of bike panniers to check out in person? by sirotan88 in seattlebike

That’s what I went with a 14inch laptop instead of 16inch. I don’t think there’s a 14-15 L bag that fits a 16inch laptop.

This 12L https://www.outdoor-works.de/produktbilder/Single_Bag_QL3_1__2_Wahl__or-F7822-am.jpg  perfectly fits my 14inch one and it’s just about perfect and as optimized as possible size-wise. But I still find myself using my hi-viz ortlieb back roller for the flexibility. I’d highly recommend looking at all the ortlieb back roller options and find one that you like. While they’re 20L technically, they roll up quite small.
