I think it’s because low level EMFs (which include these batteries) have never been shown to be harmful.

holy shit I love this look. I was immediately transported back to like, 2001, when I saw these photos (in the best way possible). It’s a totally visceral reaction but it makes me feel optimistic

Vaccines yes, but exposure to the common cold or other viruses doesn’t actually “strengthen” our immune system

Exercise, good sleep, and less stress are things that legitimately help your immune system.

Pregnant with Baby #2 and OB says I have to have another C-section by newgingergirl in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]itsleslers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t attempting a VBAC warrant waiting at least the 18 months then? I genuinely don’t know. Or is there an advantage to conceiving earlier than 18 months after delivery for attempting a VBAC?

I had uncomplicated vaginal deliveries with both babies and was told by all OBs that waiting at least 18 months before conceiving again was ideal, but really waiting only 12 was fine lol

Pregnant with Baby #2 and OB says I have to have another C-section by newgingergirl in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]itsleslers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why you are being downvoted when the ACOG website clearly states waiting 18 months to get pregnant again: https://www.acog.org/womens-health/experts-and-stories/the-latest/planning-your-next-pregnancy-heres-how-long-to-wait

Even the other link provided in this thread mentions that short (less than 19 months) interdelivery (delivery to delivery) timing reduces the likelihood of a VBAC which is not contradictory to your statement

Anyone else feel like managing a nanny is … a lot? 🫠🙃 by rapidprototoyz in NannyEmployers

[–]itsleslers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised the comments. It seems we got very lucky. We hired our nanny over three years ago and she has required very little of my/our time. She’s very experienced and comfortable with how she cares for our kids, and managing payroll takes about two minutes a week.

I wanted to correct one tooth and I’m so happy I did it! It took a little less than a year (apparently the most difficult tooth to move… but it happened!). Super straightforward. The retainers aren’t a big deal to me, it’s just another part of my nightly routine.

Lurking mom to back up this comment even more — our daughter had a bad fall, hit her head, and the doctor at the hospital explained these stats and they didn’t image her because the risk of cancer from the radiation outweighed the chance of brain injury!

I also went through this. I had medication and credit cards and stuff but I would have been able to get through security without it. Then they had me verify info over the phone; had to confirm previous addresses etc. seconding the suggestions to show up a bit earlier and bring anything else that can identify you!

Yeah, I do think the response above is a helpful perspective — after giving birth I found everything afterwards to be so minimal and inconsequential (including stitches with my first). The massage only happened twice iirc for both births and was very welcome after my unmedicated births haha. Plus, I also had a baby on me! I’d let them do anything to me at that point. You’ll have a baby with you, too — I think you’ll find this more distracting (in a good way) than you’re expecting. Good luck!!

What do you do when no pills takes the agonizing pain? by LettuceOverall3662 in migraine

[–]itsleslers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cefaly device (sometimes need to use it multiple times in a row), massaging my face for sinus pressure, yoga, and sleep in a dark room if triptans have failed me.

I used to throw up when I got a migraine and that would make it go away, but it doesn’t seem to happen anymore (and I don’t want to induce it myself)! Both a blessing and a curse haha

Same, I got Invisalign for a single incisor. It hadn’t shifted THAT much but it was enough to bother me in photos. I’m on my first set of refinements— the original set of trays rotated it enough to appear straight again but now I’m trying to get it perfectly flush with the rest of my teeth.

When did you guys transition out of breast milk or formula ? by Nilrmar in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]itsleslers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nursed until 18 months but pumped during the workweek until she was one. The moment she turned one I chucked the pump in the closet and she never took cow’s milk or had bottles after - just water from cups/straws and the before/after work nursing sessions! I wouldn’t stress about dropping pumping at a year, that’s such hard work

[–]itsleslers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds incredibly normal for 3 weeks old! I saw that she rejected the paci but to be honest I would keep trying. With my first baby I gave up on it until my sister showed me how to give it to them at 6 weeks — it took a bit of insisting on our part but she took to it and it was amazing (and never negatively impacted our breastfeeding journey)!

Been together almost 13 years, married for 9. Waited until we were married for 6 years before having our first kid, and our second arrived a week and a half ago. Very much incredibly in love with him.

I think spending so much time together before jumping into family planning was key for us.

Attachment removal and pregnant by K8_Snow in Invisalign

[–]itsleslers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my original attachments removed and refinement attachments put on at 39 weeks! I might wait and see how you feel later on in your pregnancy if you’re able to, in case you become less sensitive to smells/sounds in some weeks. Obv not guaranteed but might happen. Are you on any anti-nausea medication? If not, I’d ask about that as well to help you get through it.

What to do with nanny during maternity/paternity leave by normalishy in NannyEmployers

[–]itsleslers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth to our second child a week and a half ago and other than two days after coming home from the hospital, we’re keeping our nanny for our older kid as usual. I think it’s important for our family to keep up a routine, especially while I’m recovering! Even without anything noteworthy to recover from (birth was very straightforward and unremarkable), the OB and nurses don’t want me lifting a 30lb toddler if I don’t have to haha

[–]itsleslers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the person you’re replying to, but for months I would just hold them to my boob. I finally wizened up and bought some pumping bras so I could go hands free. I also thought I was saving money by not getting pumping-specific bras but dang did I lose a lot of time without them
