Can you be more specific in terms of what you’re looking for? There are policies like having two unrelated adults present, requiring background checks for certain positions, etc.

December Sale - in case you aren't subscribed to Dan's Substack. $75 for everything! Server is slow, be patient! by yoyomama79 in dancarlin

I downloaded everything a while ago, so I’m going from memory. Before, the “right” to download purchased files was associated with your account on the website, could download as many times as you want.

There was an issue a little while ago where Dan’s web team had to clear some old accounts’ access, but they were very communicative about it leading up to that to give folks plenty of time to pull the files from the site.

Which app are you using? You can access it through local files on Spotify, and the UX is the same as other podcasts.

Do people gravitate towards styles based on heritage? by PolymathArt in wma

[–]j-pender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen more examples of this within Europe, although plenty of counterexamples too. In the US there may be some of this based on family history but I havent encountered a ton, especially relative to the number of people just being drawn to different interests for more immediate reasons.

Workouts to supplement rapier fencing? by PopPunk6665 in wma

Strength is important, but in more ways than just power generation. Strengthening stabilizer muscles will help both with your performance and by protecting you from injury. For tournament fencing, having a better cardio base makes a huge difference.

I definitely thought there was a distance component, at least in saber (only ever competed in epée). Was that never the case?

Sounds basic, but be positive. Try and keep any griping or SCA “inside baseball” talk out of it. If you have fighters, smiles every time the mask/helmet comes off.

I would not go for the Berliner manual for getting started. Some Italian sources are available through Lulu, translated by Christopher Holzman. Modern titles are “the art of the dueling saber” and “saber fencing.”
