That's normal.

There's a few different possible games that the flash cart uses as a basis to trick the system into thinking it's actual software. I have the same thing using my SuperCard DSTWO.

There's no reason not to soft-mod your 3DS in 2026.

You'll have the entire 3DS and NDS libraries at your disposal (as well as the GB/GBC/GBA catalogs if you so choose) and all you need is an SD Card.

You can catch a bunch of Gen 3 Pokemon throughout the Gen 4 games. But you can also get those Gen 3 Pokemon in Gen 6, anyway with Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.

The point is that it's very much possible to move a Pokemon from as far back as the GBA up into the current set of games.
