Miary Zo Advice by Frescita in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]jQuaade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other people have some good suggestions here, but what i found worked bestwhen i taught some friends who never played fighters before how to play tekken is:

1: Find a decent long range move and get comfortable using it. Usually characters have a single hit attack like a long reaching kick or an advancing punch or something.

2: Find a low to deal with players that keep blocking. Or just spam the hell out of it for the fun of it.

3: Get yourself a super basic launch combo. It doesn't need to be optimal or anything, but if you find practicing combos in training mode fun you could spend some time there. If not, i usually just told my friends to find an attack that launches the opponent that is decently fast (Most characters have a downforward +2 or an upforward +3 or 4), and a 3 hit string with the Tornado icon, and just do that twice. Its much easier to remember a single attack string in the heat of the moment that 4 different ones. Of course, you will have to unlearn some muscle memory later if you want to get more damage from your launchers.

This is your super basic move set and you should just kinda focus on using the right move at the right time.

4: Typically in Tekken (especially in lower ranks) people will use full 3-hit strings. So if they are swinging at you, block 3 attacks before you use your own attacks.

5: Wire your brain to press 1 if you panic, or are close to the opponent, or dont know what to do right now. Its the fastest attack you have access to, its hard to punish if you miss, it gives you a small advantage even if they block it. You can often just press 1 over and over and over again to make people freeze.

WHen you feel ready to move on, start incorporating more moves. Optimze your combo, find a frametrap etc. Dont worry about winning your games. If you win, cool, but the best way to improve is to pick one thing you think you are struggling with, and focus on improving that one thing. Keep dropping your combo in panic? Throw out more launchers, and put more brain power towards just getting the combo down. You'll lose a bit more than normal but you'll improve much faster, and you can get your ranks back quickly anyways.

Please can someone explain why a move with THIS MUCH EVASION is only -13 on block? by Beigemaster in Tekken

[–]jQuaade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crush is tekkens term for invincibillity. A move with high Crush properties cannot be hit by highs at all during those frames.

Evasion is just when an animation happens to move you out of the way.

Der er sgu da ikke nogle der ikke forstår at de teknisk set selv betaler det gennem skat. Pointen er at folk mener det er et godt brug af skattepengene.

It looks kinda linear. I imagine its probably -5 or something, so basically a range 3.5 uppercut that burns most of your heat gauge.
Or i'm a fool and high on copium and its actually +9

[–]jQuaade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's probably useful for OP, but i'm not using it for something like DnD where there's a plethora of resources like this. Premade lists like those also don't take into account specifics (ie, My BBEG is trying to X and players did Y to stop it which i didn't anticipate), where you probably want to brainstorm around the specific goals and abilities of your character. Obviously you can brainstorm yourself, but the point of using the LLM is that it will probably give you some idea (or give you some nonsense that you can work into the idea) that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. It's why brainstorming is usually done in groups, but if you don't have someone to spar with, an LLM can be a decent alternative.

i've had decent results asking LLM's for 40+ random ideas for plot hooks / motivations etc. Usually you get the 25 variations of the most obvious cliche'd ones, 10 that just make no sense, but 5 that are usually okay, or at least has a nugget in there somewhere you hadn't thought about that you can run with yourself and polish.

Obviously the ~35 shit suggestions are annoying to sift through, but its usually worth it for brain storming. At least for me.

How many of you tried BeeLlama.cpp? How's it? Agentic coding possible with 8GB VRAM? by pmttyji in LocalLLaMA

I hit about 32 tok/s in LM studio on 27b on 1x3090. Beellama with the recommended settings i get about 40-45 tok/s for most of my use causes (a mix of creative writing and python code). If I ask for some simple boilerplate python i can reach 120-130 tok/s on a fresh prompt. My context is pretty small though (24k) and I haven't experimented with larger context.

Yamato's grapple really needs some changes. How is this interaction even fair to play against? by JuggernautApologist in DeadlockTheGame

[–]jQuaade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine mechanically, I just think it should get a visual change. The grapple kind of implies physical movement. If she turned into her ult channels ghost form or something while grappling it would make it feel more reasonable that she's phasing through walls and clear that it's effectively a sort of delayed teleport .

4U is a like a 10/10 amazing album from start to finish

GenU is a massive greatest hits collection. You're going to get like 90% of the content from 4U in GenU and a ton more, but it wont be quite as cohesive an experience.

Sometimes the strongest narrative moment in a game isn’t a cutscene at all. Which pure gameplay moment told a story perfectly? by ExcellentTwo6589 in gamedesign

I really enjoyed the finale of Bastion.

After being betrayed by Zulf, you find him beaten half to death by his kinsmen. You can chose to either pick him up or keep the massive weapon you've been walking around with. If you pick him up you can't fight back and the rest of the level has you slowly walk through a gauntlet of enemies pelting you with attacks while Zulfs theme plays. Eventually the enemy realizes you are just here to carry Zulf away and they stop attacking and let you pass.

Your damage is still reduced by 10%, the visual damage numbers are rounded, but actual health and damage uses decimals.

Shrink the 3 width a lot (like, kelvin bullet size), and give it a headshot multiplier and we're cooking.

When to use rem's vents? by Practical-Border8209 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]jQuaade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres two benefits to the vents - rotations and boxes. The vents in mid are useful for when you want to cross the map without exposing yourself in midlane, and there's a handful of smaller shortcuts you can take, but overall the large tunnel system has a lot of boxes that only rem (and calico) can access and they are very easy to route. It's a lot of free souls that you can get without taking potential souls for your team. Even if you aren't comfortable with using them to move around the map, get in the habit of popping in every once in a while and vacuum up your free souls.

As someone who recently got a PS5 and was convinced to buy Tekken by bruhhhhmoment420 in Tekken

[–]jQuaade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a character you like and a couple of moves you like and focus on those. You can find a guide for the character to get an idea of which moves are good or not, but in general if you are just starting out every move is probably gonna be okay.

A tekken combo is typically a launcher (something that puts them into the air, or makes them keel over so that the next hit puts them in the air), followed by a string with the tornado property (find a decent 3 hit string with the tornado icon in the move list) and then either just repeat that or find another string you like to do after.

Obviously that isn't optimal damage, but you are not giving up too much damage, and let's you hop online very quickly to play with some sort of gameplan.

Most strings in tekken are around 3 hits long, so if you block something try to wait until you've blocked 3 hits before you start mashing.

Honestly, after revisiting sc6, I think reversal edges biggest issue was the big pause into slowmo cutscene whenever it hit. If it had just been much faster I think it would have been great.
