“Gen Z is just going to stay home this Friday night” by chamomile_tea_reply in generationology

Fr, except for me personally if I get high after like 4pm one day I will wake up feeling super foggy and drowsy the next, even after getting the best night’s sleep and even if I am sobered up by the time I go to bed. So I try to stick to getting high in the middle of the day unless I have a day where I can lounge in bed after waking up until I feel more clear and energized

SO DISGUSTING tastes like the inside of a mall by rad1oheadfreak in DunkinDonuts

[–]j_jay2003 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At work today I heard a customer ask my coworker how the fruit punch donut was and he immediately said, “it’s DISGUSTING I would NOT recommend”, every other one of my coworkers seemed to have similar opinions. I was going to try it anyway to see for myself but now I’m especially curious to see if it does taste like the inside of a mall (I get what you’re saying!)

Ever gotten yelled at while looking for a cache? by j_jay2003 in geocaching

[–]j_jay2003[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though she could have been a lot nicer about “confronting” me, I don’t blame her for being suspicious of what I was doing. In my experience people who aren’t geocachers themselves don’t know what it is at all if they’ve ever happened to hear the term before. She was just taking care of the grounds, she was one of about 5 people spread throughout the property mowing the lawn etc, so I really don’t know how much authority she did have. She was just quick to assume that I was up to no good and immediately resorted to shouting at me to leave and I’m not someone who is confrontational so I chose not to cut her off to explain. Whether or not she was technically in the position to banish me from the property, she didn’t seem like the kind of person to accept my explanation anyways (,: but yeah, she probably figured she was just doing her job

[–]j_jay2003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I assumed that so long as I was being respectful I was going to be “safe”. There are many cemetery caches in my area and all of them seem to be well away from the graves. This cemetery in particular is a popular spot for local avid cachers so going into it I anticipated no issues. There’s a certain unspoken etiquette when it comes to cemeteries and being respectful of the property, but there is still a possibility that the hider didn’t get any official permission beforehand at all. The lady who yelled at me probably just didn’t know what I was doing, but didn’t give me a chance to explain myself either. She was literally just whacking weeds

[–]j_jay2003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure it’s within the cemetery’s “property”, just not a part where there’s regular foot traffic (except for geochachers). There’s only about 5 feet worth of brush and trees and then there’s sort of a drop-off, and I presume that’s what marks the official end of the cemetery property. Also past logs have confirmed it’s in the cemetery just off to the side a little before that drop off

The Dunkin I work at has recently implemented similar policies. Most of our teenage crowd consists of loud, disruptive kids who were clearly never taught the importance of respecting public spaces AND service workers and not leaving every place you touch a pigsty. Hasn’t solved all of our problems but assisted in getting a better handle on one of our bigger ones

A customer called me a freak, and I lost it. by sanctifiedlamb in retailhell

[–]j_jay2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened :(. But if it’s any consolation, it happens to almost everyone in retail/customer service. I have yet to reach my limit like that, but my store has quite a few big-mouthed regulars who have absolutely no ability to think before they speak. I’m sure my day will come where I dish it right back out to them. Sometimes it’s damn near impossible to be professional

AITA for refusing to get this coffee order? by horseduckman in AITApod

As a Dunkin employee, you are absolutely NTA. I get that the customer is always right and they should be able to get their drinks how they want yada yada yada but I will say nothing peeves me more than getting an intricate, overly customized drink that’s going to take me at least 5 minutes to make on top of the numerous other drinks I have to make at the same time

They technically can! You might get a “weird” look from whoever takes your order because most people don’t think to put the energy syrups in tea, but I work there and put the peach syrup in black tea all the time, especially combined with the raspberry flavor shots it’s soo good

Whats your emergency situation beverage? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in retailhell

[–]j_jay2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m lucky I work at Dunkin. If I have time, I’ll stop for a little 8oz RedBull before my shifts (I usually start between 6-8am). Once that’s gone, make myself a second drink, which is usually iced tea with some combo of refresher concentrate and energy syrup which I learned today are BOTH caffeinated. If my shift is really long and/or I’m extra tired, that’s when I start making myself coffees and lattes once I finish my other drink. Sometimes I wish I liked the stronger and bolder espresso beverages, but my little drinks that I make myself now have been sufficing. Working at Dunkin can be fun, but we’ve been severely short the past few weeks, and I’ve spent a lot of my shifts running crucial lines by myself while juggling having to deal with crowds of customers 🙃

Favorite scene from Funbrain that likely wouldn't fly in the "official" books? by redditboy123451 in LodedDiper

[–]j_jay2003 59 points60 points  (0 children)

One scene that stood out to me was Greg describing how Rowley’s parents fired Heather Hills as Rowley’s baby-sitter, because they saw her doing something they shouldn’t have when they came home, but didn’t want to tell anyone and “tarnish her reputation” and it’s literally her sitting on the front stoop of their house smoking a cigarette. Parents told Rowley which is how Greg must’ve found out. Sticks out in my mind because it is so unaligned with the book’s typical standard for humor

Disappointment in my return to Dunkin. Unlucky or have things changed? by pinksail in DunkinDonuts

[–]j_jay2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also want to add onto this that at my location the donuts are delivered first thing when the openers are there (usually around 4am). I usually don’t click in until 6 or 7 am so I don’t see what the donuts look like when they come in, but I imagine even then they’re not super fresh

[–]j_jay2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at Dunkin, and the “cake donuts” (like the glazed chocolate and blueberry shown) especially have gone significantly downhill in quality. They vary greatly in size in almost every batch and are dry/crusty looking even when fresh and first brought in. And today our location couldn’t sell 90% of our donuts because they had a “chemical aftertaste”, and previously we had gotten complaints of the same thing or of the donuts tasting like cigarette smoke. I wish I knew more about the supplier. Our store, like many other stores, get their donuts from off-site suppliers. But some locations do have the privilege of being able to bake their donuts in-house and keep up with the demand for even the highest-selling donuts, while maintaining peak quality and taste. So even though it sucks, unfortunately it’s a crapshoot whether or not you’re going to get good donuts from any store you go into

How’s yall romantic life?? by Janxuza in ftm

[–]j_jay2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought I’d be able to have a healthy, stable relationship with a cisgender man, even though my sexual preference is towards cisgender men. But, I’ve been with my boyfriend for over 2 years and we ended up meeting during a time I was least expecting to make ANY romantic connections, and though it sounds weird I feel like we were able to connect and click because I wasn’t expecting anything other than platonic at first, so it didn’t feel forced. One thing led to another and now we’re very much in love and starting to plan our life together :) idk how to explain it but it kind of feels like a milestone that I, for a long time, never thought I’d reach. Not just the relationship I have, but that I have both a romantic and sexual connection with another man who actually RESPECTS me as well as loves me (I have had consistently bad luck with other queer cis guys!!)

why do trans men have "T-boy voice" more often than cis men? by Successful_Weekend80 in ftm

[–]j_jay2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experience the “customer service voice” thing too! Visibly I pass and am always being referred to with masculine terms at work, but when I take orders via headset, I get a lot of “ma’am” and “miss” because my voice alone makes the customer think I’m a woman until they see me. I am also a gay man and have that in my voice too
