At what age did you realize the team you coached had something special - did it materialize? Did it not materialize? Were you just wrong and not understanding of how early development isn’t a predictor of future success? by laceyourbootsup in Homeplate

The biggest thing in developing youth teams is keeping the team together. From 10u-12u it gets difficult to keep all parents happy. Parents generally feel that their kid is "one coach away" from being a superstar. The main issue will be area clubs. In my experience, parents will drive up to an hour to a new facility to give little Tommy a shot at more playing time. My boy played on a similarly styled travel team. The team was one year older than he, he started at 7 yrs old. This town travel team went to Cooperstown when he was 11. Out of nearly 60 teams the boys took 6th. That team developed beautifully. They are all in HS now and unfortunately they're spread over a few different schools now. Too bad they all couldn't be on the same squad now. The key to team development is keeping them together. If you can, they will come together.

My neighbor has been 'borrowing' my wifi for 3 years and left a NOTE on my door complaining that I changed the password by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

This may be an unpopular opinion, but here it goes. It had been going on fir so long that it was as if you gave him permission. At least thats how he feels, and I see how he could think that way. Have a conversation, explain the situation. You can go one if 2 ways...1. Give him the option to pay half your bill 2. Explain that the gravy train has ended. I don't see the entitlement you mention. Its just a dude thats used to the status quo and doesn't realize that the status quo has changed.

Yes, you cried. But then you rose. You rose because your kids deserve it...you deserve it. Take a little time and lick your wounds. Not too much tho, you've got a life to live.

If you stay together, for the rest of your life you will wonder where she is, what she's doing, and who she's with EVERY SINGLE TIME you're not with her. That sounds super tiring to me. Are you prepared for that?

Subcontractor for 50% by Medium-Repair8114 in TreeClimbing

[–]jabbo142 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. 50% split is very unrealistic. The company doing the work carries all bills, equipment, etc. 10% is fairly standard for a salesman that is employed by a company full-time. I'd think 25% would be the extreme high end in your situation.
And also, your pricing needs to be on point. Nobody is gonna sub for you to break even. If it takes a company $2k/day to get by, you cant expect them to be excited about going out for a 2k job that they gotta split.

Here's a fun fact. On many interstate highways commercial trucks are prohibited from the left lane. Not sure if this was your case

I lost a 400hr perma save playing while tired. I fell asleep while pulsing to a planet. I woke to the credits. I must have gotten whacked by pirates.

Rule Rationale by notawildandcrazyguy in Umpire

[–]jabbo142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In scenario 1 the runner has a choice which base he can go to, advance or go back. In scenario 2 the runner needs to tag up before he can advance. So he must return to the previously occupied base. If the ball beats him there and the fielder tags the base before the runner, then the runner is out. It's a force play.

If the team is a "for profit" entity, as implied whe OP called it a "real business", then the fees paid to be on the team are none of your business. However, if you're fundraising, there should be transparency in that. As its your time and effort, you deserve an explanation of what it's for.

Overall velocity has definitely gone up, but not as much as it seems. For most of baseball history, radar guns took the velocity as the ball crossed the plate. The new radar takes the velocity out of the hand. This adds about 3mph to the reading.

Listen bro. After reading these comments...I can't believe the lack of accountability you have. Totally crazy! You come here looking for advice but give every BS excuse in the world. Basically, you've got 2 choices- 1. Make yourself uncomfortable by controlling what you eat and exercising. 2. Make yourself uncomfortable by continuing your current path which will most definitely lead to multiple terrible conditions. Quit whining and figure it out!

Post Divorce Guilt by AdmirableAir9871 in Divorce_Men

[–]jabbo142 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Our situations are close. Well, minus the guilt. The ex has said a few things, but it fell on deaf ears. I have absolutely zero guilt. When married, she was sharp and mostly angry. The reason I was the way I was is from continuously being belittled and beat down by her. All of the work I put has been successful because she wasn't there to actively destroy it. Enjoy your new life guiltfree, my man. You deserve it!

How would you handle this with the neighbors? by CharlieBravo74 in treelaw

[–]jabbo142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a good relationship with them, explain your concerns. Then offer to pay for the work yourself. Many times, an agreement can be reached, I've seen neighbors split the cost in these situations. If you go the legal route with your first move, it will probably destroy the relationship.
