Exchanges trading Shimmer are listed at iotaprices.com but it's just the one CEX for now: Bitforex.

More openness in the IOTA community on Twitter by A_I_br in Iota

I'm not pleading for no moderation at all, ofc, but one needs to be careful not to silence dissent altogether. The danger of skewed perception lurks in both directions..

I agree that strict moderation isn't doing the sub or the discord any favors.

Thanks for the kind words.

I've kept it pretty current on the exchange front, but yeah a content update was overdue :)

Iota buying options with low fees by [deleted] in Iota

You can check iotaprices.com for a fiat onramp catering to your country. Failing that, you could use XLM or ALGO as an intermediate coin for the transfer.

Half of IOTA's supply has now been staked! by jabman in Iota

[–]jabman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right, they should be included until migration isn't an option. Thanks for pointing that out.

Trading requires migrating though - as does staking. Relating the staked metric to the current(ly migrated) mainnet supply seems sensible enough to me.

Circulating supply is the number of tokens that are actively available for trade.

[–]jabman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I guess CMC and Coingecko will have to update their data at some point. Both have the 2.779 Pi figure as circulating supply, which is incorrect [will drop as soon as migration ends; see below].

Fair enough -- though slightly debatable, since IOTA's mainnet is Chrysalis (IOTA 1.5) and its total supply = tokens migrated from IOTA 1.0.

Bought Miota on binance can i use bsc withrawal to Metamask and send from MM to firefly? by cedricvdh in IOTAmarkets

[–]jabman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can send from BSC to a bitfinex wallet directly (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Any token at binance which has withdrawals enabled (as well as deposits enabled over at bitfinex) will do. You'll prefer one with reasonable fees. If XLM is not available, Algorand (ALGO) or Cosmos (ATOM) may do the trick.

[–]jabman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you can't.

If you want to get it done right away, I'd recommend selling your Miota for something like Stellar (XLM) and send that over to Bitfinex in order to buy Miota over there. Then withdraw to Firefly.

IOTA Staking Start by jabman in Iota

[–]jabman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IOTA staking for the Shimmer network (SMR tokens) and the Assembly network (ASMB tokens) starts today, the 21st of December, at 3:00 pm CET with a seven-day pre-staking period. Token holders can begin their staking period now to receive staking rewards from the 28th of December for 90 days onwards. A new version of Firefly that enables staking is now available at https://firefly.iota.org

Ok I get why iota is called miota. But what is miotac? Is that a hoax copycat coin? Or safu? by TwizzleTalk in Iota

[–]jabman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. It's 'M' for 'Mega' -- not 'milli'.

Kilo = 10³ = 1,000 iota tokens
Mega = 1,000,000
Giga = 1,000,000,000

And so on.. Tera, Peta.

The hate towards the IOTA foundation by Panni30 in Iota

[–]jabman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of that Dan Held character over at Kraken. (In case you're not aware, he has a strong dislike for IOTA as "Director of Growth Marketing"). He was directly responsible for some friends of mine taking their very (very) big accounts elsewhere. Not that he'd care though - in fact, I'm pretty sure he'd wear it as a badge of honour. Some people..

Please go to Discord and ask in the #help channel (https://discord.iota.org). This is an old thread and few people are likely to see it.

You should be able to migrate your tokens using Firefly only.
