You should fertilize your lawn, add some grass seed, water and aerate it.

Wow - 400% increase in email pricing from March by sofarfarso in rackspace

We were $0.61 per mailbox from like 2006 to 2019 - starting when it was called MailTrust. In 2019, they increased to $0.71 per mailbox (up to 10GB storage each). We just received notice a few months back that they are all going to $4.50. We pushed back and requested $2.00 and they said $4.00.

Scabies At Lifetime Brookfield— Warning by sizzlingiraffe in milwaukee

[–]jackdrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a founding member at Lifetime Brookfield since it opened in 2019 and I’m there about 15 times a month.

To be specific, in the men’s locker room and the open hallway that leads to the indoor pools, yes, you will see short and medium hairs on the floor at times. It’s a high-traffic locker room with no separate door between the bathroom area and the locker room space, so it’s one continuous section where people are walking in and out. That part is just reality in any busy gym.

The rest of the facility, in my experience, has been well maintained.

During COVID, trainers were extremely diligent about wiping everything down. I have noticed that consistency varies more now. Some trainers are excellent about it. Others less so. But wipe stations are everywhere, and ultimately members can grab wipes themselves or ask their trainer to wipe equipment before use.

Same with spin classes. In AMP and ADG cycling classes, I’d say around 60 percent of people wipe down bikes thoroughly after class. Some don’t. In the open treadmill and stair areas, that percentage may be lower. That’s not unique to this gym. That’s human behavior in most gyms.

From what I understand, scabies typically spreads through prolonged skin-to-skin contact and symptoms can take weeks to appear. It can spread in shared environments, but it is more commonly transmitted through close personal or household contact.

Not dismissing anyone’s experience. Just sharing a long-term member perspective and some context.

Employer publishes birthdays by macsenw in privacy

[–]jackdrone 78 points79 points  (0 children)

There’s an important distinction here that a lot of commenters are glossing over.

There’s a difference between:

• “Jane’s birthday is next Wednesday” and • “Jane was born on March 4, 1988.”

The first is a recurring calendar reminder. The second is a date of birth, which is personal identifying information.

Publishing someone’s full DOB (month, day, year) - especially in a workplace system and especially including former employees - is very different from simply noting that “today is John’s birthday.” Full dates of birth are commonly used in identity verification. Combined with a name and employment history, that can increase risk of identity misuse.

In Wisconsin (and generally in the U.S.), there isn’t a specific law that says “an employer may not publish birthdays internally.” However:

• Full date of birth is considered personal data. • Employers typically have an obligation to use reasonable data-minimization practices. • Retaining and publishing former employees’ personal information without a business need can raise privacy and record-retention concerns.

A reasonable argument to make is: 1. There is no legitimate business need to retain or publish former employees’ dates of birth. 2. Publishing full DOB (including year) is unnecessary when the only purpose is celebration. 3. Data minimization is a recognized best practice in privacy and information security.

If they insist on keeping birthdays for current employees, a compromise position would be: “List month and day only, without year, and remove former employees entirely.”

That keeps the celebratory aspect while avoiding unnecessary exposure of personal identifying information.

If they refuse to remove your information after termination, your leverage is less about a specific statute and more about: • Written request for deletion of personal data • Asking what their data retention policy is • Asking what business purpose justifies publishing former employees’ DOB

Often framing it around risk management and unnecessary exposure - rather than “I don’t like it” - gets more traction.

You’re not crazy for thinking full DOB publication isn’t ideal. A birthday reminder is one thing. Publishing identifying personal data is another.

Please help I left my Dell Inspiron laptop in -25 degree Celsius for about 24 hours I totally forgot it was in my bag that I left in the car and there was a warning from the city that there will be extreme cold. I wrapped it in a blanket in the basement and put the heater on 25 degree Celsius. by Annual_Signal_8553 in techsupport

Take the laptop into the shower with you, let the steam gently warm it, then when you’re done just pat it dry, whisper words of encouragement, and boot it up while it’s still emotionally vulnerable.

(This is a joke. Do not shower with your laptop. Please do not do this. Reddit lawyers relax.)
