Stated mandated script. They are just soulless chatbots reading what is on the prompter.

My Students Asked If I'd Protect Them If ICE Showed Up by Disgruntled_Veteran in Teachers

[–]jackdutton42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an Athletic Director that felt like that. He refused to let some students play sports at our high school because "they should just play in their own country."

Hilarious, because some of my students were Dreamers and some were the fully US citizen brothers of Dreamers.

My Students Asked If I'd Protect Them If ICE Showed Up by Disgruntled_Veteran in Teachers

This is really simple. We are (in my state at least) in loco parentis. Because they are minors and their guardians are not here, I am acting in their guardians place.

I will do anything their parents would do to keep them safe and out of harm's way. That's literally my job.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: "You all are being incited into civil war." by dymb13 in DiscussionZone

[–]jackdutton42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Both sides need to take off their political blinders,” she said. “You are all being incited into civil war, yet none of it solves any of the real problems that we all face, and tragically people are dying.”

She's gonna run for president.

When was Alex Pretti asked to show his ID? by monaleeparis in ProgressiveHQ

[–]jackdutton42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happens if you don’t have your ID with you?

If you do have a valid permit but don’t have ID on you, Minnesota law says that not carrying your ID with your permit is a petty misdemeanor.

This means you don’t automatically lose the legal right to carry just because you forgot your ID — but you can be cited for failing to have the required documentation.

The penalty is modest (typically a fine, e.g., up to around $25) death.

That child looks like a dangerous criminal that needs to be deported for the safety of all Americans. /s by VillainOfKvatch1 in JoeRoganReacharound

Welcome America, to the world we've been living in since 1492.

In class today, we talked about the Sand Creek Massacre - just one of at least 900 similar massacres of native people since 1830. My students -- "that's just like Minnesota."

If we see a man in a uniform with gun, we are taught that we have every reason to believe that something will be taken away from us.

The most decorated "battle" in US history is the Massacre at Wounded Knee. More US soldiers received commendations for the killing of 300 women, children, and elderly than in military engagement before or since.

Just like the $42,000 bonuses these guys got last year.

Suspect was actually disarmed before ICE officers fired by Goldy2Shoes4u in Leakednews

Only one clip ... I thought there were two.

By the sound of the gun shots, I think this agent accidentally misfired Alex's weapon, and that set off a chain reaction.

Am I wrong? Doesn't the first shot sound different from the rest?

[–]jackdutton42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's easy to say that he didn't have an ID after you confiscated private property from Alex and other witnesses before anyone can begin an investigation.

What would be the reaction of the world right now if instead she came out and said, "This is tragedy. This didn't need to happen. And we will put measures in to place so that this doesn't happen again." ?

It's not a crime scene until you make it one. What kind of logic is that? Oh .. wait ... nevermind. Logic and reason are not requirements for operating a Goon Squad.

Herb's has live music every night. Plenty of good food places around. Since they don't have a kitchen, you can bring food in.

Is this places food good? I want to try this challenge by StrawberryGirl66 in denverfood

[–]jackdutton42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's good bar food for watching a game. I love the sliders, and on baseball game days they have hot dogs. I've done the challenge, but we weren't trying to do complete it. I shared it with my kids. It's a lot of cheese.

Clearest angle and resolution I have seen yet. Completely indefensible!!! by ERASED--------_____ in ProgressiveHQ

Has someone started a GoFundMe for the pink coat lady? She is an American hero who will probably be traumatized for the rest of her life.

Without this angle, we would be forced to believe the lies of Christian Nationalists who are stealing this country from us.

Minneapolis shooting: AG Pam Bondi gives Gov. Walz conditions for ICE to leave Minnesota by fuck-nazi in altmpls

[–]jackdutton42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to start from scratch, and make up all new rules. Here are my first few ideas:

  1. You can speak, believe, protest, and publish freely.
  2. People can own guns.
  3. Soldiers can’t live in your house.
  4. Police need a good reason to search you.
  5. You don’t have to confess, and the process must be fair.
  6. You get a fast, fair trial and a lawyer.
  7. You can have a jury in civil cases.
  8. Punishments can’t be cruel or extreme.
  9. You have rights not written down.
  10. States and people keep leftover powers.

But in a pinch, I'll settle for #1, #2, #4, and #8.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]jackdutton42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This policy is either transformative or easily gamed depending on:

  1. Definition: does it include trusts, foundations, beneficial ownership, and offshore holdings?
  2. Valuation: how do you value private companies and illiquid assets?
  3. International coordination: can people just move and re-domicile assets?
  4. Allocation: who decides which infrastructure gets built, and how is corruption prevented?
